To say that women look bloody weird ….

.. when the only part of their face that moves is their mouth and eyes.

And don’t get me started on the massive fish lips.

Never see any naturally beautiful young women on TV these days. Such a shame

Some people have had so much Botox, they do actually look awful and I bet they were beautiful before but insecurity made them waste money on Botox and plastic surgery.Flase eyelashes, huge Botox lips, overly pouty top lip, they look like scary dolls , awful.I think just a bit of make up is enough as it's not permanent. It saddens me to see so many men and women paying to look so weird. Sorry to offend people who have had these procedures but you are wasting your money.

GarlicHound · 20/11/2025 22:33

So let us see the face of perfection.

It's not about perfection, though, is it? It's about young women having the topography of their faces changed in a similar way to all the others, eliminating the variety and individuality that gives people charm and/or character.

OP's right about limited facial expressions, too. Our faces are a huge medium of non-verbal communication, and emotions (positive and negative) matter. Hordes of young women attempting to make themselves seem like matching dolls actually is concerning from a sociological point of view, and I am vaguely worried about the impacts this has on the individuals' self-perceptions.

I find it depressing that teenagers now feel they 'need' their faces changed! I'm not 100% against interventions - philosophically I am but, now I'm seriously old, I'd be tempted to have the kind of well-judged lifts & tucks some wealthy women do if I had their funds.

Not everything a woman does to herself is admirable.

Well yes.

And hopefully women will continue to speak out against the onslaught of pressure in our society today to have botox and fillers and cosmetic surgery.

Trying to normalise these procedures and trying to shout down women who speak out against them is doing women, and particularly young girls and young women, a total disservice.

Well said

I’m not lambasting anyone.

Well lambasting is criticising - are you not criticising then?

YANBU

But some men are catching up.

If you've ever watched Graham Norton or Johnathan Ross lately, some of the male actors are positively dribbling with facial paralysis.

Omg yes!!! I have recently watched a film with male actors completely unwatchable due to whatever the hell they did to their faces. Definitely not just women.

🤣 Thanks for your insightful contribution

You're welcome 😘

Dollymylove · 20/11/2025 22:37

The pillow face. They are like clones. Usually black dyed hair and eyelashes that weigh about a stone on each eye.
Not forgetting the huge arse and tiny waist in gym gear 🤣

Best to keep your opinions on appearance to yourself, there will be things about your appearance that others won’t like, and you’d probably prefer not to hear them 🤷‍♀️

But you've turned this in to personally insulting the OP! This isn't about the looks people were both with! This is about women paying so called aestheticians to deform their faces! And all you can focus on is tearing apart the looks of a woman you've never met was born with?

I’m not sure it is a criticism to say that they look weird when their faces don’t move. It certainly doesn’t look natural or normal and as I said it is a real shame that women don’t realise that they look more beautiful in their natural state

If you “Never see any naturally beautiful young women on TV these days” you need to widen your tv viewing choices because I see lots.

I’m no fan of the Botox, lip filers etc fake look either but yabu to think that all women on tv look like that.

Frenchexs · 20/11/2025 22:41

Don’t assume everything is due to cosmetics. I’ve been accused of this but I have a mild form of muscular dystrophy, can’t move my facial muscles very well and have had some shitty comments in this vein.

EatMoreChocolate44 · 20/11/2025 22:41

I think threads like this are important OP because woman need to know that not everyone feels the need to Botox. That not everyone thinks it looks good. It's becoming the norm for 20 year olds to inject into their faces as a 'preventative' measure. Nonsense! Beautiful natural faces are being stretched and paralysed, tweaked and puffed. It's ludicrous and unless we turn the narrative around it's going to get worse. 8 & 9 year olds are buying expensive skincare for goodness sake and damaging their beautiful skin. 🙈

bottledboot · 20/11/2025 22:41

I think it’s ok to comment on why society puts this pressure on women & discussing that doesn’t automatically mean you are slagging off other women. Do posters think it shouldn’t be commented on?

raspberryberet2020 · 20/11/2025 22:42

It's a deliberate thing, I think. They are signalling they are available and a certain sort of trashy, misogynistic man finds that pornbot look appealing. It's like having a facial tattoo really, most people will be very put off but you appeal to a niche audience.

I think too they often live their lives surrounded by bubbles of people with these abnormal standards, and want to fit in, prove they too can afford to destroy their faces for a fad.

Fair enough, “never” is not the right term to use.

The homogeneous look that’s today’s go-to for so many women is depressing, frankly. Being comfortable in your own skin is an art.

mind you, I think so much, culturally speaking, is geared towards the lowest common denominator in the west. Film/cinema and music especially. So much utter dirge pumped out for the masses. Banality and mediocrity sells, apparently, and enough of us never demand anything better for massive faceless corporations to thrive on our low standards.

TheChosenTwo · 20/11/2025 22:42

I was in a queue at the airport this morning and noticed a lot of women with quite obvious lip fillers / flips, just makes them all have a fairly similar look. They like it, their faces, nothing to do with me. But they just looked very similar!
same with big lash extensions, it’s all very popular.
I cba, not good with needles or maintaining a look of any kind and think you need to keep it up (fillers) otherwise your skin will just end up baggy. Seems expensive to me!
Not slagging anyone off, I’ve not said anything rude and didn’t say it out loud. It’s just an observation while people watching in a long and boring queue.

echt · 20/11/2025 22:42

Yet another three-word username of recent vintage being disobliging about women/relationships/attitudes.

PollyBell · 20/11/2025 22:43

so women complain how society makes them turn their face into plastic or they will look older, I dont know anyone who genuinely thinks the plastic look does in fact look good on anyone, so instead of people being fake nice maybe if people were more honest maybe kess women would fall into the trap of desperately trying to make themselves look younger so they can get and keep a man, and if people say they do it for themselves and not for a man, how on earth did you come up with the idea in the first place that looking like a barbie doll was an attractive thing?

yes when others do it they call the men shallow and only want women for looks yet think the fake everything looks amazing

KickHimInTheCrotch · 20/11/2025 22:44

On Made In Chelsea the other day a male (Fred) recieved gasps of shock when he demonstrated that his forehead moved when he raised his eyebrows. The other men (Ollie and Gareth) were like waxwork mannequins.

I do judge people who are scared of looking their age but thats not exclusively women.

BatchCookBabe · 20/11/2025 22:44

I agree @GoingbackwardsForwards In a couple of decades, we'll look back at this time, and think 'what were these people thinking?!'

cityanalyst678 · 20/11/2025 22:45

I mean, it's just a fact. They do look weird, through choice. It would be a bit off if they couldn't help looking like that, but we absolutely have the right to comment on something that looks weird that has been chosen specifically by the person so they can look weird.

If I walk through the mall wearing a stuffed animal strapped to my head, I expect people to notice it and comment. If you get your face frozen into a pornbot appearance on purpose, you can expect the same. It's odd, it stands out, it's not normal and it's a fad for attention.

They want attention, and they're getting attention. What they can't do is run the narrative of the type of attention they get.

EarthSight · 20/11/2025 22:46

I've noticed more & more how many young influencers have faces that don't move very much.

They'll be presenting something and saying 'And here I am, standing at the site of a historical event. I've dreamt of always coming here and I was horrified when I thought I'd be so I'll I couldn't come'.....something like that, and their face will be 😐😐😐 the whole time - no matter if they're talking about something joyful or sad, it's the same, and the only part that moves a bit is the eyes maybe.

It's strange and robot -, and makes me wonder about the long-term effects this will have on a babies and their ability to read emotions in faces.

And they just seem to miss the obvious point that they are judging women on their appearance in a way that is so reductive and feeds the compulsion to use aesthetic treatments.

All the tedious comments about “weren’t they so naturally beautiful before” zzzzzz.
