Sweater Weather Snl GIF

I'm loving it 🤷‍♀️

I wouldn’t saying I’m enjoying but I probably would if I could just stay indoors and keep warm at the fire. I do not like getting up in the dark and having to drive dd to the school bus. We live very rural and the roads are like glass. I do love sunny cold days but I hate the icy roads.

Yes, I imagine that the "enjoyment" rather depends on what one's commitments are.

YANBU. The relatively warm autumns of recent years make me uneasy. This is the kind of November weather I remember from my childhood.

Same here

90s baby and I remember being cold and happy in November 😄

great, but what do you actually DO?

Spend several hours a day outside?
Spend another few hours standing on the side of various pitches while your children are training?

That's not directed to you, but I read people loving the "cold weather" because they enjoy lying down in front of the tv under blanket with a hot chocolate, it's rather hypocritical of them 😂They're not outside, the temperature has nothing to do with anything, and they could do just that most of the year, just by opening a window

😄😄😄 I do the school run!

Pop to asda, lidl and sainsburys

Gonna treat me and dd to an evening out on a bus ride to see the christmas lights

Very busy me! (Much of my time is spent being cosy and making soup though)

If it's going to cold snap like this I would like to see some snow. Alas, we live in the West Midlands, aka the only region of the UK that hardly ever sees a flake of the bloody stuff. Oh, but we got ALL the yellow and amber warnings for the downpour of Storm Claudia, whoop de friggin do.

Try living in Cornwall! Snow is a once in a 20 year event

thats so raven haters GIF

Me ignoring you haters!!!

Far better than being hot and sweaty and miserable in 30 degrees heat, with days that never bloody end and terrible tv

Would love snow in london!

It's cold and I feel for my neighbour. She's 78 and in previous years (since post Covid) she's been in floods of tears at the astronomical energy bills which she cannot afford. I'm always out at work (I have two jobs (morning and evening) so I am rarely home to ask her over, but I do go and keep an eye on her.

I keep hearing and reading the term, 'energy poverty' and it breaks my heart that society is now a place where profit is put over basic humanity. I live in London, which has plenty of homeless people living on the street and this cold snap will take lives.

I hope all the Energy company executives enjoy their fat bonuses. We've already seen the same with Thames Water.

Inhumane.

So you don't have a work commute to do?

Apart from the school run, if your other excursions outside are optional, you will be in a better position to enjoy cold, ice and snow than many other people are.

From that point of view YANU I suppose.

IHateWasps · 20/11/2025 17:11

Winter lovers ought to be put out in the midst of a blizzard with no shelter or supplies for half an hour(Ok perhaps 15 minutes) and see how fond they are of it then.

😭😭 I would love it even with a commute!

Plus my school run is long (long story) so an hour each way!!

This is mumsnet - full of women who can't cope with temperatures over 18 degrees and who either have plenty of £££ to pay for their fuel bills or are people who like to post on the competitive underheating threads.

I'm sorry you are uncomfortable. I don't like winter either but I'm not a typical mumsnetter. I don't like festering snuggling under blankets in candlelight, drinking hot chocolate, I answer the phone and the doorbell, I like my workmates and got on like a house on fire with my late MIL.

So much venom…about people liking different weather to you. Christ.

wtdse · 20/11/2025 17:13

Hate hate hate it!! How long till I can be in flip flops and shorts back down the beach??!!

goldenmagicbiscuittin · 20/11/2025 17:13

I hate it. Thankfully the months seem to be flying by so in about 3 months time it will be almost spring, lovely light evenings and summer on the horizon hoorah!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 20/11/2025 17:13

The one thing I know -

Whatever the weather is, some people will love it and some hate it.

Often this will depend on what you have to do with your day!

GaIadriel · 20/11/2025 17:15

I like when it gets cold and crisp. Makes me feel alive. Total opposite to lethargic heat (which I also enjoy in moderation). Gives me that festive feeling.

I enjoy it less after xmas when it's just months of crap weather and struggling to get into my frozen shell of a car at 5am. Didn't really enjoy being outside for 40 mins at a time yesterday on a big concrete pour. My hands were frozen even under my gloves and had forgotten my neck warmer. 😩

I doubt very much that you'd love it if you had a difficult driving commute or had to drive around as part of your job. @Charlize43 your poor neighbour. It's good that you find the time to look out for her despite being so busy work wise.

We are the ones with all the snow gear out walking in it for fun

GovernmentFundedSteak · 20/11/2025 17:19

I can't afford to put my heating on, so I'm just cold and miserable. My toes hurt when it's cold. I'm a weird size and shape so struggle to find a decent coat that fits. Hate having too many layers, it's just bulky and uncomfortable.

I hate it when is 30+ as well though.

GumFossil · 20/11/2025 17:19

It was simply gorgeous here today. The brightest sunshine, clear blue skies and fucking freezing.

I came home to the roasting woodburner which my husband has lit this afternoon. Bliss.

HeyThereDelila · 20/11/2025 17:20

YANBU; it was traditionally always this cold in Britain at this time of year. We need it for killing pests and bugs in the soil and for the birds and animals to know the seasons. Time was autumn/winter would be cold for 4 months- it’s I only in recent years with climate change we’ve stopped understanding what normal temperatures are.

Pollqueen · 20/11/2025 17:22

Hate it. Hate the expense of having to put the heating on, hate driving in it, hate having to defrost my car in the morning and hate my fingers being frozen. Roll on summer ☀️ I do have a fireplace though so getting that up and running as do love a real fire 🔥
