I take this cold over 30 degree heat any day

I love it.

I’m not British, but I’ve lived here almost 20 years and I still LOVE all the seasons. Im
from a hot country, and the variety of weather here delights me.

Unless there are economic reasons or they are regularly undertaking outdoor labour (which must be quite unpleasant in this weather), I always have difficulty understanding how so many people seem completely unprepared for cold weather. Every single year. It’s like they’re astonished they don’t live in the tropics.

😄😄 this is true, people are like this

Yes love it (but no snow thankfully). Big coat is on!

SliceofTosst · 20/11/2025 16:11

In London it's going to cold and sunny tomorrow. Beautiful.

dooflepops · 20/11/2025 16:12

I love it too. I love coming home and drawing the curtains, summer light and heat can be too intrusive.
I think I may as well enjoy it while we have it, cold snaps never last long and it’s welcome after the long hot summer we had here.

Devilsmommy · 20/11/2025 16:12

I love it personally because I prefer to dress up in loads of layers. Can't wait for the first of December so I can break out my Christmas Guinness jumper 🤭

Sartre · 20/11/2025 16:13

I’m not loving having chapped lips but aside from that, really don’t mind it at all.

Definitelynotme2022 · 20/11/2025 16:14

Nope.... it's too cold. Plus I have dogs to walk, I've had this cold virus thing for nearly 2 weeks and now have a chest infection.

Luckily for me, I'm off to the Algarve for a long weekend later. I can't wait for a bit of sunshine!

Mydoglovescheese · 20/11/2025 16:14

Just got home from the cinema where there was no heating! I’m very glad to be home in the warm.

Boomer55 · 20/11/2025 16:18

I think it depends on age, health and ability to manage the bills. I hate hot, humid weather, but I’m also not too happy with this.

But, in London/NKent, it’s not too bad at the moment. 👎

ilovesooty · 20/11/2025 16:18

No. It's horrible. Roll on Spring.

London here too

Having a lovely time but yet to see snow ❄️

Its the most wonderful time of the year 🎄🙂

It so is. It’s my most favourite time. Thank you for loving it too.

You can be prepared for Winter and still detest it.

sanityisamyth · 20/11/2025 16:24

There’s nothing to love. Had to spend money on a new coat and the pavements are lethal.

I am not loving it all all, I am cold.

It's painful to go out first thing in the morning for my run, I am freezing, I feel like I can't breathe properly and its just hurt to be out instead of staying under the duvet all day 😂

My kids moan about doing their outdoor sports because they're cold and they can't be bothered - they are fine once they warm up.

It's unseasonably cold - I know it's winter, but it tends to be usually mild-ish. I normally never get proper winter coat/ ski jackets and proper winter gear out. It stays in the loft until our holidays, so either I feel the cold more (which is unlikely) or it's actually colder than normal for mid November.

SusanSHelit · 20/11/2025 15:37

Yabvvvvvvu. My energy bills are going through the roof, my joints hurt, my skin is suffering, asthma has flared up and no amount of soup, or hot drinks or bloody sweaters is making any of it any better. I contemplated getting in the bath this morning just warm up a bit.

Roll on spring and the return of reasonable temperatures. If people were supposed to live where it was this cold they'd be wooly.

This is mumsnet - full of women who can't cope with temperatures over 18 degrees and who either have plenty of £££ to pay for their fuel bills or are people who like to post on the competitive underheating threads.

I'm sorry you are uncomfortable. I don't like winter either but I'm not a typical mumsnetter. I don't like festering snuggling under blankets in candlelight, drinking hot chocolate, I answer the phone and the doorbell, I like my workmates and got on like a house on fire with my late MIL.

ilovesooty · 20/11/2025 16:29

My cats are disgusted. The little one walked carefully round the edge of the garden this morning to avoid putting his feet in the snow on the lawn and gave me a hard stare halfway round to remind me of his feelings about it. I agree with him.

For me it means peace and quiet. No bomp bomp bomp of a ball. A housing estate in London during the summer months isn’t a pleasant place.

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 20/11/2025 16:39

I hate it so much. A combination of SAD and Raynaulds syndrome does not make me a happy person in winter. We never get snow either as we live by the sea, just wind.

asrl78 · 20/11/2025 16:45

It is good to have some sunshine after weeks of hideous dullness and the third dullest October on record, followed by a November that will almost match it in places.

It is also good that a bit of dry weather that often accompanies a cold spell will help things to dry out a bit. The super-mild weather for much of this month was accompanied by dampness and the inability to step into the garden I am working on without half of it sticking to my shoes.

It is less good that a fair portion of the cold spell has again been marred by cloudy conditions. I much prefer cold crisp sunny conditions where the ground is frozen and you can walk on a footpath without sinking into it.

The cold snap has been a mediocre affair here in the SE, it is too early for proper cold. A few brief periods of snow that doesn't settle is just a typical southern England fake winter.

RitaFromThePitCanteen · 20/11/2025 16:47

YANBU. The relatively warm autumns of recent years make me uneasy. This is the kind of November weather I remember from my childhood.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 20/11/2025 15:30

I'm loving it 🤷‍♀️

great, but what do you actually DO?

Spend several hours a day outside?
Spend another few hours standing on the side of various pitches while your children are training?

That's not directed to you, but I read people loving the "cold weather" because they enjoy lying down in front of the tv under blanket with a hot chocolate, it's rather hypocritical of them 😂They're not outside, the temperature has nothing to do with anything, and they could do just that most of the year, just by opening a window

SteakBakesAndHotTakes · 20/11/2025 16:56

I don't mind the cold but the sleet was horrible - I didn't have gloves and after pushing the buggy for half an hour my hands were in agony
