Do vapers realise how bad they smell?

Yeah, yeah cigarettes stink. But do vapers realise how bad vapes smell and how that sticks to their clothes and hair as much as cigarette smoke does?

Not just the vapes that smell like demented haribo strawberries, but the ones that dont have a flavour. They all just smell awful. In fact the flavourless ones smell worse because they just smell like a dirty car.

Getting into the lift at work you can always smell if someone has just come in from a vape.

Again, cigarette smoke blah blah blah.

I’ve never noticed to be honest. I’m more irritated that when I’m walking along the high street I smell something lovely that I could purchase and eat, then walk straight into a cloud of someones vape.

The woman I followed out of TK Max the other day obviously didn't realise that the blast of vapour she let out of her mouth was tainted with the unmistakable smell of gum disease. Its a vile habit, like toddlers with a dummy on a lanyard. Yuck.

As in you think the vape smells like something you'd want to eat and are disappointed? Or as in, you smell something nice and then the vape cloud destroys it?

Oh god the people who think they can vape indoors or on public transport as well. Selfish twats are too stupid to read the big signs or use their common sense.

hate it when you are walking along and someone blows a load of vape in your face. to me, they smell sickly sweet, something like those awful parma violet sweets.

Obviously smoking is awful, it stinks, bad for your health etc. But... sometimes in the right light with the right attitude it can look a bit sexy (until you realise what it is and instantly it stops being so) but vaping just looks like someone is sucking on a light up long dummy. It just looks so stupid.

Agree it can look sexy with lipstick and long pined nails !
Still would not do it though !

Apart from the smell of the vape, I wouldn't have any idea if someone vaped if they weren't doing it in front of me. I can't smell anything from them.

I know some vapers and I don't think they smell. I wouldn't know, if I hadn't seen them doing it.

I competley disagree- I’m always suprised at how little they smell! Someone vaped in my car last week and I didn’t even notice

Bring back pipe smoking. The smell of pipe tobacco is lovely.

Ban vaping and all the childish flavours, but being back the humble pipe.

This vape cloud thing really disgusts me too! I don't want to inhale your chemical shit...They are also unhealthy obviously so why do folk do it? Why not just give up the inhaling of stuff via cigs and vapes...There are ways to quit.

I only notice it when people are actively vaping (and then it smells nice imo).

My husband doesn't smell of vape and he's always doing it, but my stepson does. The difference is my husband just uses bog standard tobacco flavoured vape liquid from 88 vape, my stepson uses gid knows what but it's really pungent and when he visited made the kitchen like a disco with a fake smoke machine! He vaped in the kitchen as he has a no vaping around his baby rule, but the fumes were so strong they wafted into the hallway where she was asleep in her pram! He also left his jacket behind and I had to wash it as the smell was so strong

Generally they don't seem to realise. There was a thread on here once in which multiple vapers were arguing that it was fine to vape in no-vaping hotel rooms because no one can tell.

I was at the theatre a couple of weeks ago, sitting next to someone with this really sickly sweet smell coming off them. It was so strong I had to half cover my mounth and nose at times. Didn't realise what is was at the time, but mentioned to DP during the interval, and he suggested it was down to vaping. Horrible!

I've never noticed vape smell to stick on anyone actually. In the street I find some vapes smell really lovely, some awful... All smell awful inside somewhere, smells way too harsh when it's all contained. Like an assault on the nose.

I have a flavourless one as a smoking replacement (used to smoke like a chimney), but it definitly and absolutely has a smell if you stick your nose to it (it doesn't do "clouds", but I imagine you could smell it on my breath if you got close enough lol). And it's not a very nice smell either.

I don't entirely care if other people don't like the look of it or such in public, people do a lot of things, smell and look lots of ways that I don't like at all in public. From annoying stinky dogs, to annoying stinky toddlers and children, to annoying stinky adults. We all live in a society and have to rub along together in public.

I gave up smoking not too long ago. I didn't switch to vaping purely because I didn't want to swap one addiction for another. That said, I feel a bit sorry for the vapers with all the hate they get. People have been banging on about smokers for years, they're the worst people on earth, blah blah. So they use vapes to help them quit and still get the hate! Now its like they're being demonised more than actual smokers!

I am too busy with my own life to pay attention to it. Most people are just doing their best to get along with their own lives. In the same way as some people have visible struggles, others are hidden, or leave no evidence.

I expect other people to do things I find difficult and I suppose I will do things that irritate them too. They aren't perfect, neither am I.

I work with loads of colleagues who go outside for a vape. I have never ever noticed the smell. The ones who smoke proper fags now they stink.

We are all busy with work though so don't really go into judging each others habits and sneering down our noses at each other.

I don't know anyone who vapes but my next door neighbour chain smokes these vile cheap fags that stink to high heaven. He's unemployed so I don't know how he affords 60 a day. His fingers are yellow, his teeth are dark brown its revolting.
He started staying up all night and smoking in his bedroom while doom scrolling and it all came into my bedroom, I'd not be able to sleep because of the smell and go to work exhausted with a sore throat and tight chest.
I cracked a few nights ago and went round there at 4am in my pyjamas to give him a piece of my mind. He'd just been lighting up one after the other all night. I haven't had any problems since.
Wherever he is smoking I can't smell it any more.
