To have not put my heating on yet

I am still hot, bearly broken into a jumper yet and it seems people are cold and putting the heating on.
Is it just me or is anyone else still wearing t-shirts and opening windows?
Everyone I speak to seems to have theirs on and looking around I see people in winter coats.

Everything is relative. I highly doubt you are the only person 🙄

We’re in a new build and no heating on yet. House is 18 degrees

Prelim · 15/11/2025 14:27

Yes you are the only person in the whole of the UK not to have put the heating on. I’m sure the King will call up soon to offer you medal.

SnowSnow · 15/11/2025 14:27

It’s been very mild here so far with temps around 13-15c so we haven’t had ours on yet.

EchoedSilence · 15/11/2025 14:27

I've had my heating on loads. Does that make me some inferior being?

Beekman · 15/11/2025 14:28

Putting the heating on is not some kind of weakness or moral failing.

Some people have warmer houses than others, some people don’t feel the cold etc.

RaininSummer · 15/11/2025 14:29

Not yet. Haven't even got the big jumpers out yet. My sofa blanket has been enough so far.

EuroTour · 15/11/2025 14:29

My house is still 21° so no heating here yet.

AgnesX · 15/11/2025 14:29

And your point is what? It's not a competition to see how long it can stay off for.

Bagamama · 15/11/2025 14:29

If it hasn't rained or you're not worried about damp then crack on.

TeenLifeMum · 15/11/2025 14:30

Ours hasn’t been on much and earlier we had a puppy visiting so the backdoor was open while our dog ran around with the puppy so I turned it off. It wasn’t on as the house hadn’t dropped below 19 degrees but with the door open it probably would have. I’m using the heated blanket but that’s plenty.

House is 20 years old and seems to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Assuming it’s well insulated.

Vaxtable · 15/11/2025 14:30

Bully for you

you do realise that everyone is not the same, that some do feel the cold and some dont

RamblingFar · 15/11/2025 14:30

I haven't had mine on yet.

It wouldn't heat it any higher than it already is inside my flat, so no point. It was 18C in here when I last looked.

I do have have an electric blanket on the bed and an electric throw on the chair though.

My house would feel cold at 18 degrees.

No but it’s interesting because I don’t think I’d be in November a few years ago without heating. September was chilly but we stubbornly held off to put the heating on here and it appears to have got milder. Maybe we need to specify regions as that will impact majorly. I’m in Somerset.

Overtheatlantic · 15/11/2025 14:33

I find this very unusual, and no one I know is traipsing around in shorts. There is one man in IT who wears them year round but he is morbidly obese and might have sensory issues. Otherwise I think it is entirely normal to have the heating on and wearing warm clothes in mid November in England.

Gowlett · 15/11/2025 14:33

Our place is pretty warm, luckily. Had the heating on for an
hour or so in the mornings / evenings, with it being so damp & miserable outside, the last few days. Once the temperature drops next week, we’ll have it on for a similar amount each day.

EchoedSilence · 15/11/2025 14:35

When the temperature drops next week there will still be people on here saying they are wearing bikinis around the house with all the windows open.

Marchintospring · 15/11/2025 14:35

I’ve put mine on to dry clothes not because it’s cold.
Was out last night and people ( including me) were out in coats for rain but just light tops underneath. Mid November and no jumpers needed.
So yes, where I am it’s not necessary to have heating on.

cardibach · 15/11/2025 14:36

YANBU to do what you like with your own heating.
YABU to make into a competition whereby anybody not hot must be wearing t shirts. My heating turns itself on within certain hours if the temp drops below 19. It comes on for a short while most days now. I’m wearing an oodie at that temp to be comfortable.

FuzzyWolf · 15/11/2025 14:36

It’s up to you when you put the heating on and if you can’t afford it, then it makes sense to avoid it as long as you can.

goldenskiesandsilverlarks · 15/11/2025 14:38

It’s not that cold.

we don’t need the heating on consistently in this country.
