To have not put my heating on yet

I am still hot, bearly broken into a jumper yet and it seems people are cold and putting the heating on.
Is it just me or is anyone else still wearing t-shirts and opening windows?
Everyone I speak to seems to have theirs on and looking around I see people in winter coats.

It is not a moral failing to have the heating on!

Mine has been clicking on and off for weeks now. Set at 18/19 daytime and evening, off at night. I even boost it to 20 or 21 if I or my DH (who isn't able to move around easily) feel cold.

MN is very odd about heating.

Troubler · 15/11/2025 15:00

Ours is not on yet but we’re in London and it’s still relatively warm.

I can smell fires outside though so I suspect some people are lighting fires/putting heating on

Temp drops next week so I imagine I’ll turn it on then. There is always an issue in this house as I don’t feel the cold (and nor do my kids) but Dp and his kids would rather have the heating on tropical level

Hollygolightly89 · 15/11/2025 15:02

New build here and no heating yet. I’ve been unusually warm at night too.

ScaryM0nster · 15/11/2025 15:03

Ive deiced the car 4 times this week.

Heating is on.

Dampsquibs · 15/11/2025 15:09

I don’t have mine set to come on and instead turn it on manually as I feel it’s needed . It was chilly indoors this morning at 14c in the house and 5c outdoors. So, yes the heating had to be turned on for an hour to take the chill away. I’ll do the same this evening. Heavy jumper in the meantime. I’d have it on if I was expecting visitors.

Terrribletwos · 15/11/2025 15:11

Snow on the hills here and been quite Baltic at times with a very cold northerly wind. So heating is on.

youalright · 15/11/2025 15:11

Are you a larger lady when I was bigger i was hotter all the time now I've lost weight i feel the cold a lot more.

PersephonePomegranate · 15/11/2025 15:12

It's mild here. I'm wearing a jumper but haven't had my heating on yet and I tend to feel the cold.

My winter coat is out, mostly because it's waterproof!

No it's not just you. I've taken the chill off the room a couple of mornings but that's it so far. I don't feel the cold as much as most people. You're fine, don't worry about it, we're all different.

SpaceRaccoon · 15/11/2025 15:16

It's useful if people actually mention where they are. Parts of the SW of the UK have sub-tropical climate - parts of Scotland have a sub-arctic climate.

struckbychristmaslights · 15/11/2025 14:47

Could you highlight where I said anyone who needed it must be wearing T-shirts please?

You referred to needing a t shirt in your house. Maybe I made an incorrect assumption. In that case, your post reads that other people must be terribly feeble not to be boiling hot when the outdoor temp is barley in double figures ant the warmest point of the day and it’s peeing down and blowing a hooley.

Well good for you. I’ve lost 3 stone. I was cold at my heaviest and I’m cold now.

Good point.

North East England. Although Geordies don't wear coats anyway so we're a bit of a winter outlier up here 😁

No not at all size 6 and short. I do live with my husband but he’s nothing to go by as he’s just a hot person regardless.
I’m usually freezing all the time in other years and have my heating on in September but looking around it seems just me.
I have taken a rain coat out once or twice but ripped it off all hot sweaty.
Maybe it’s peri? I’ve found shops are unbearably hot lately and can’t bear the duvet on, still using a fan at night.

Thankyou. And well done to you 3 stone loss is great. Really ive been the opposite i remember being boiling all the time when I was fat now I seem to be cold all the time.

CosySeason · 15/11/2025 15:21

I’ve been warm but the thermostat has said otherwise so the heating has been on.

Wow! People are touchy. Where did the op say they were morally superior or that it was a competition?

Not had ours on yet. We live in a well insulated flat.

It is unseasonably warm where I am (south east England). Up to 17° this week which is ridiculous for mid November in the uk.

PuppyMonkey · 15/11/2025 15:23

Snowing next week apparently. Come back and tell us whether you cave won’t you OP?Grin

3luckystars · 15/11/2025 15:23

Maybe it’s your thyroid?

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 15/11/2025 15:23

Yes, I'm also in a t-shirt and have windows open. I'm asthmatic so I hate a hot stuffy house, it feels unhealthy to me.

Beware of ever saying you like a cool house though, people on mumsnet hate that. I got a real kicking on another thread because I made the mistake of saying we have the heating set to 15 😬

Imagine not being able to get your head around the fact that different parts of the UK have different weather and temperatures.

Embarrassed for you.

I agree with you on shops they are always ridiculously hot especially when you have layers on and are rushing about. Are you always on the go at home or do you spend time sitting about watching telly. When I'm doing stuff im fine but like this afternoon where lazing about watching a Christmas film and we have heating on blankets and drinking hot chocolate and im still cold 🥶
