It's dark, rainy and I have a rotten cold. I've just made a big pan of vegetable and lentil soup.
It really hit the spot!

YABU - that bread makes me feel sad. It needs to be much crustier.

TheWytch · 12/11/2025 13:35

I'm currently down with Covid ( almost better now) and just had a bowl of homemade lentil and vegetable soup.

Nothing quite like it for comfort food. Hope you feel better soon

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · 12/11/2025 13:38

You're ill and you made soup, you are officially a heroine @FagotsAndPeas .
That soup looks fab and I agree sometimes it's just the thing.
Hope you feel better really soon.

LilyGeorge · 12/11/2025 13:39

Soup is wonderful.

If I lived alone I’d eat soup everyday for dinner.

Charel2girl5 · 12/11/2025 13:42

You can’t beat a bowl of leek and potato soup with bacon scones!!

DeadBee · 12/11/2025 13:54

Yabu.

Soup Is not food.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 12/11/2025 13:55

I’m just about to eat my soup. Butternut squash and chestnut. Also having cheese on toast with it.

TeaRoseTallulah · 12/11/2025 13:56

I've just had carrot and coriander and sourdough bread, so good.

Cleikumstovies · 12/11/2025 13:56

Home baked bread for me.

DarkEyedSailor · 12/11/2025 13:57

I bloody love soup.

Tonight I'm having chicken, carrot, potato and pea soup.

DierdreDaphne · 12/11/2025 13:57

Was thinking exactly this yesterday, big bowl of minstrone with chunks of half-melted cheese floating in it. Sooooo satisfying.

And to the soup naysayers - make or buy thicker soup and obviously eat the whole tin..Serves two my arse 😂

WildUnknown · 12/11/2025 13:57

I’ve recently been on a liquid/puree diet post bariatric surgery. Yet another bowl of soup gets old very quickly let me tell you. I can recommend the Cully and Sully Chowder though.

DierdreDaphne · 12/11/2025 13:58

Where is the 😋😋 reaction when we need it eh?

I’m just eating a bowl now minus the scone- sadly not home made, Yeo valley !

TheFinePrintess · 12/11/2025 14:03

i always have some homemade chicken soup in the freezer for under the weather days… it’s basically chicken, tin tomatoes and veg with some spices. It’s got chopped chillies in it too so really clears the sinuses!

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 12/11/2025 14:06

Love soup but your bread needs a glow up! toasted sourdough with an inch of real butter... nomnomnom

doodleygirl · 12/11/2025 14:37

Ii bloody love soup, so far this week I’ve had homemade, minestrone, tomato, leek, cauliflower and potato. My too, if you don’t have lovely bread, make croutons - cut bread into chunks, olive oil, salt, hot oven for about 10 mins, delicious

isitmyturn · 12/11/2025 14:39

I love soup and make some at least once a week. No recipes just random veg.
A good dollop of chilli makes it even better if you are full of cold.

isitmytime · 12/11/2025 14:45

The best thing about this time of year is a good bowl of soup, chicken and rice is my firm favourite, scotch broth is a close second but any soup will do really I bloody love it and always have some In the freezer
according to DP I make the best lentil soup he’s ever had 😇

Croutons is what I do, or cheese on toast with lots of black pepper. Just something a little more special, especially with lovely homemade soup.

Arlanymor · 12/11/2025 14:51

My favourite comfort food in the whole entire world is cream of tomato soup with a cheese toastie for dunking... made by someone else.
