To wonder if people prefer the last government to this one?

The amount of people who are saying they hate this government and would vote reform.
So let me get this straight: many would rather vote for someone who was a member of the facist party at university than labour? Er...ok then. It seems to me that most people are fairly racist and blame others for the state of the economy; immigrants, the disabled, sinle parents, working class etc.

The last government gave us Brexit which was a nightmare and landed us in the shit economically.
At least the roads are getting repaired under labour which is a tangible use of my taxes....and yet people moan about paying more taxes.

Im not saying Labour are amazing...tjey are not but are they worse than the tories?

The current government is a shit show.

But the Tories were an even shittier show, and Reform would be a fucking sewer.

I've heard a lot of people saying that they might vote Reform because "things can't get any worse". Er, yes they can... and will if people are stupid enough to elect them.

I will be voting for the least worst option at the next election, and for whichever party is most likely to keep Reform out.

Boomer55 · 12/11/2025 06:04

Labour are worse than hopeless, and I regret voting for them.

And now there seems to be some sort of internal coup going on, so that they can oust Starmer and Reeves.

So, it’ll be the Tories Part Two, by another name. 🙄

What roads, and where? 🤷‍♀️

traintonowheretoday · 12/11/2025 06:04

Yes I prefer the last government

Sally2791 · 12/11/2025 06:05

Definitely not worse than the tories, people seem to think the massive problems can just be magically resolved overnight. Farage is promising this by encouraging racism and division. Labour is far from perfect and lacks conviction in some areas but they have inherited a shit show.

malificent7 · 12/11/2025 06:09

In my area all the roads are being resurfaced...no more potholes.

Having said that ....its the only thing im.aware of that i like..

To be fair, potholes are a local council responsibility - not national government.

Wow , all of them? What magical area is this? Is it not inconvenient having works on all the roads in the whole area at the same time?

Or can I sniff some serious hyperbole on the wind?

Overthebow · 12/11/2025 06:13

At the moment yes.

malificent7 · 12/11/2025 06:15

Loads of road works...obviously only the ones that need repairing. But the council didnt repair under tories.

The last government did not give us Brexit. There was a referendum and the British people voted for, and by a small margin, gave us Brexit. Brexit is history and if anyone thinks we would be better off had we stayed in Europe just look at the economic state of France, Germany and many other members of federal Europe.

The Conservatives did not deserve to remain in power at the last election but Labour have reverted to type and are gravely and grossly mismanaging the economy. The NI increase, particularly the lowering of the threshold to £5k, has plugged growth and resulted in job losses.

Where we are now was inevitable. I have never voted Labour and never shall because I am old enough to remember the 1970s shit show. Neither shall I ever vote Reform.

It may be helpful if the Liberals could possibly spare some thought for policy and strategy and share it with us. Ed Davey is a genuinely nice man and has worked tirelessly in his constituency but he shows no sign of leading the Libs into government.

Personally, I'm not keen on Kemi but presently she's the best bet.

eurochick · 12/11/2025 06:23

Road repairs are nothing to do with central government.

In answer to your question, yes. I thought at the time of the election that it was time for a change but this lot are an absolute shambles. I didn’t vote for them but wasn’t sorry that they won at the time. Now I would love to have the last lot back.

Mumdiva99 · 12/11/2025 06:26

The tories gave us Boris - who made us lock down and lied to us as he didn't follow it, nor did he ensure those who worked for him followed it. I will never forgive or forget that. Even when it all came out the Tories still supported him. I can never trust a party that supports lies.

The Tories absolutely did give us Brexit. Cameron chose to hold a stupid referendum in a failed attempt to get his own party in order. May and Johnson between them then led us into the hard version of Brexit that we eventually ended up with, which has done untold damage to our economy. And no, Brexit isn't "history" - it is very much reflected in our present woes. We can't change the past, but the fuckers responsible should at the very least be held accountable.

LeafyMcLeafFace · 12/11/2025 06:29

i think the previous government were far worse than this one.

This one is having to deal with the shit show that the last ones left but executing it pretty poorly.

@malificent7 wondering if you live near me. All it takes is an accident on the only road not being mended and you have to drive miles as a diversion!

user1497787065 · 12/11/2025 06:30

I have always been a conservative voter and think that Rishi Sunak could have been a good PM but the rot had already set in. I think Labour are finding out how hard it is to govern and how easy opposition is.

We have reached a stage whereby people vote against a party rather than for hence the rise of Reform.

Summerhillsquare · 12/11/2025 06:31

I agree op, but the responses will be filled with misinformation, straw men, distraction and personal abuse, alas.

TattooStan · 12/11/2025 06:51

I don't know if I prefer the last government, but I do wish we could turn back the clock.

The UK is now in such dire straits economically (due to mismanagement by previous governments), it's concerning what measures the current government might implement at the drop of a hat to claw back some funds.

It feels pretty grim as a working person, with our apparently "broad shoulders" that can prop up the entire nation (and I'm sure feels grim for other groups too).

I wonder if Labour have considered bringing in a tax on the air we breathe....

RosesAndHellebores · 12/11/2025 06:54

Does anyone remember the covid threads where MNetters wanted Furlough to ladt longer and for society to stay cllsed and anyone who pointed out the consequences was accused of killing grannies.

Agree with this.

Labour is shit.
Tories were a bucket load of shit.
Reform are all the shit in the world.

Freysimo · 12/11/2025 06:58

I didn't vote Labour last election but wasn't that sorry they won. I thought they might have some bright ideas after 14 years in opposition, would be good to have a fresh start etc. Now I long for Rishi.

Marchitectmummy · 12/11/2025 07:00

Yep, if I could vote tomorrow it wouldn t be Labour. In fact I will never vote for them again

Yes, I find my vote gets less and less discerning each time an election rolls around, as I think all parties are pretty similar and shit.

This. And I fear it’s going to be people on middle incomes like myself who will be targeted and struggle the most from any tax rises. I can barely afford to pay my bills as it is.
