I wish I could confess my sins and get absolution

IwishIcouldconfess · 09/11/2025 14:12

I made a right tit of myself on Thursday, went out with some ladies I don't know that well, got pissed, couldn't get in through the door, wet the bed and had to ring in sick

Why I let myself get into that state I don't know

I am embarrassed and upset

I wish I could do penance and be absolved

Username changed as I don't want it linking to my previous posts

We all make mistakes.

You have confessed; consider yourself absolved.

Frostynoman · 09/11/2025 14:13

I think once you’re over your hangover have a think about your relationship with alcohol and how it impacts your life

Toolatetolatte · 09/11/2025 14:13

We’ve all done daft shit when we’ve had a skinfull. Chalk it up to experience and forgive yourself

Genevieva · 09/11/2025 14:16

When I was at university I had a friend who actually did this quite regularly. She was fun, prone to enthusiasms and getting caught up in the moment, but also religious, so off she’d go to the Catholic Church on the Sunday morning.

ImaginaryAilments · 09/11/2025 14:17

As a former cradle Catholic, I don’t think ‘making a tit of myself when drunk and wetting the bed’ actually constitutes a ‘sin’. Possibly not treating your body like a ‘temple of the Holy Spirit’, but we’re not heading into the Seven Deadly Sins or breaking the Ten Commandments territory.

Chalk it up to experience, and congratulate yourself on having done it around people you don’t know well and don’t need to see all the time.

Consider yourself absolved my child

Aye, I had pals who did this too.

Polly199068 · 09/11/2025 14:24

Meh. This is a very minor, if embarrassing, sin. Forgive yourself

Muffsies · 09/11/2025 14:30

If you want 'absolution' you should probably make up the time you were off sick by working late for a couple of days. Or if someone had to cover for you, maybe do them a favour in return.

As for getting that drunk, you could have put yourself in danger by having a bad accident or vomiting in your sleep. Think hard about why you got so drunk and vow not to get in that state again (it sounds like you're already doing this).

I work in the NHS, so can't really make my time up, but I won't moan if I stay late and will go in next time they are short - I had already planned on buying the lady who took over from me a present.

Believe me I am thinking long and hard about myself, I don't seem to have an off switch, because it was there I was just helping myself.

this, I have been tee total for a long time, don't miss it one bit. Also you only need to ask God for forgiveness if that's what you meant? Father forgive me in Jesus name, Amen, type of deal :)

ok glad I wasn't the only one going down that road lol.

Gottocopebymyself · 09/11/2025 14:55

If you have got to a point where you wet the bed because you have drunk too much then that is a serious wake up call.

What ever has happened has happened and you can't change it.

But you really need to change your drinking habits going forward.

And I say this from my own experience n

IwishIcouldconfess · 09/11/2025 14:57

Thank you, I feel embarrassed that I allowed myself to get into that state
I feel awful that someone had to take over from me
I feel bad that I lied and said I was ill when I was just hungover
I wish I could have taken unpaid leave
I am 52 I should know better
I want to wear a sack cloth and ashes

Well done, it sounds like you are a genuinely good person.

Halloweeeeeeeeen · 09/11/2025 15:05

I bet you have done more than enough in your career to absolve you of a one off silly thing

FlyingApple · 09/11/2025 15:19

That's a lot of shame you're carrying. We are all human.

Didkyle · 09/11/2025 15:20

Do you live alone?

Didkyle · 09/11/2025 15:20

Have you messaged to apologise?

IwishIcouldconfess · 09/11/2025 15:21

Didkyle · 09/11/2025 15:20

No - long term partner and one child at home

And…. They were in bed when you wet the bed?

Child was presumably (hopefully) completely unaware?

how did you get home?
