I wish I could confess my sins and get absolution

I made a right tit of myself on Thursday, went out with some ladies I don't know that well, got pissed, couldn't get in through the door, wet the bed and had to ring in sick

Why I let myself get into that state I don't know

I am embarrassed and upset

I wish I could do penance and be absolved

Username changed as I don't want it linking to my previous posts

And…. They were in bed when you wet the bed?

Child was presumably (hopefully) completely unaware?

how did you get home?

Edited

I had actually gone in the spare room

Child completely unaware

I managed to get myself in a taxi and home

I appreciate that I do, I blamed the dodgy tea I had had

Again, everyone will know op if you were in the state you have conveyed here

and blaming it on a dodgy kebab 😆 just makes it worse!

I got myself in work, was sick, so came home - to be honest I looked so ill that it could have been a dodgy kebab

I dropped one lady off on the way home and then it just hit me - well I think it did haha

Ignore @Didkyle. It's only repeat offenders whose sickies are looked at with suspicion.

IwishIcouldconfess · 09/11/2025 15:27

I can honestly say in 12 years of nursing I haven't ever rang in sick before - I normally book a day off after going out, so I am not hungover haha

Balloonhearts · 09/11/2025 15:28

Say 10 Hail Mary's for your penance and consider yourself absolved.

Ok you need to be honest with yourself
everyone will know it was a hangover

I would go in. Apologies. Say you felt dreadful and wasn’t thinking straight and you’ll make up the hours.

So they’ve all see you pissed before?

and know you take the next day off for the hangover!

Oh come on

I am trying to encourage the op to face facts. You would think this about a colleague who usually books the day off after a drinking session. The one time they didn’t.., they call in sick 😆

Dollymylove · 09/11/2025 14:42

You got pissed. You didnt kill anyone
Forget about it x

Hmmm…

unless there’s a hell of a dripfeed coming… 😳

Hallywally · 09/11/2025 15:32

You should’ve just been honest about being hung over and taken it an annual leave or whatever. I think that bit’s worse than the actual drinking etc (which we’ve all done- don’t beat yourself up).

Dontlletmedownbruce · 09/11/2025 15:35

This was my Irish Catholic youth. Get pissed Fri or Sat, make a show of yourself then up for mass Sunday hangover or not.

It's ok OP. Your made a mistake, the only injured party here is your pride.

Go in peace...

I have only worked in this department for 2 years and have never once gone out with any of them drinking - gone out for lunch once with one person

No - I take the day off as I am up at 6am for a 12 hour shift, surely its better to schedule a day off after you have been out

OP posts:
nadine90 · 09/11/2025 15:37

Who did you hurt?
I beat myself up after drinking too, I rarely do it anymore because the hangxiety is just not worth it. Drinking too much on a rare occasion does not make you a bad person. You’re a nurse so you know the risks to yourself, no point in us telling you them. Hope you feel better soon x

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 09/11/2025 15:37

When you're making repeated, uninformed comments criticising someone else's actions, including three posts in a row, I think it's time to look at your own behaviour.

On reflection I should have done, but I didn't I Thought I could power on through

I’m not criticising!!!

I am trying to encourage the op to fave facts they will know she lied. Who care about the drinking?! No biggie. The lie however is an issue.

So I suggest the op faces it, apologised and offers to make up the hours

Did they check you home safely?

You’re sounding obsessed. You have no reason to know what OP’s colleagues will think. She’s said she never calls in sick.

Oh fgs,she doesn't
She's never usually ill its an error of judgement are you enjoying trying to mske the Op feel worse?
