Sick of people on weight loss jabs saying you still have to “put in the work” with wl jabs

I’ve lost a fair amount of weight naturally this year. It’s been hellish as I’m fairly sure I have some sort of psychological reliance on comfort eating. I asked a couple of people I know if they recommend I go on WL jabs for the last stretch as I have lost momentum and am stagnating but could probably still do with losing another 20 pounds. They always say well “WL jabs still elan you have to put in the work. The fat doesn’t evaporate”. I’m sorry but WHAT. The injections are doing the hard bit for you. Ie stopping you from wanting to shovel large amounts of unhealthy food in your gob. It’s very annoying. I see this comment online all the time too.

I definitely do not have an issue with people on WL jabs. I would use them too but I am saving up for a mummy makeover so have chosen to save my money as a SAHM.

Very defensive comments imo!

.

That took 31 minutes to appear on a WLI thread. Must try harder next time.

To be fair, you posted popcorn on page 3. That’s way too late for popcorn. Popcorn is only acceptable on page 1.

JudgeBread · 06/11/2025 14:19

So get the jab and stop moaning about it? Then you can join all the people on the jab in pissing off people who think they're better than those who took the jab because they did it "the hard way"

Cosyblackcatonbed · 06/11/2025 14:13

Then don't read them. You are the bitter (and ridiculously angry) one here. OP is entitled to her own opinion. You mind your own fucking business, you don't own MN or decide what people are allowed to discuss.

Yes I am angry - I have taken them for 18m and they have literally saved my life and I’ve avoided major surgery as a result. They also changed my autistic 17yo DS’s life, though we are now no longer on them having both lost in excess of 6stones each.

I am as perfectly entitled to tell ill-informed ignorant and goady ops to back off with their unjustified and judgmental opinions when they have no idea why the majority of people are using them. Afterall YOU don’t own MN either, do you?

Jesus! That is properly dangerous @alqggapwbnch ! You shouldn't share meds like that

Yeah - and people are surprised when there are negative reactions, and people die!

Spottyness · 06/11/2025 14:21

I know a few people on the jabs, some of them had to give them up when the prices went up, they've all pilled the weight back on which is such a shame. I don't think they're a long term miracle cure for all. I've been working my butt off losing weight without them, 3 stone down so far. I've been working on the emotional eating & binging, it's hard but it's a lifestyle change for me rather than a quick fix/diet.

Zov · 06/11/2025 14:21

I agree @Plind

I am currently LOLing at 3 people I know (1 man, 2 women - all aged 45 to 50,) who have been 5-6 stone overweight since around 20-23 y.o. Miraculously, over this past year and a half, they have dropped around 6 stone in weight, as if by magic, after 25 to 30 years of yo-yo dieting, and never losing more than 2 stone (which they always regained.)

All deny using the weight loss injections. It's laughable because it's so obvious that they have used them. They are so smug about their weight loss too. Bet they won't be so smug when they stop the jabs and the weight piles back on.

bignewprinz · 06/11/2025 14:22

You're judging people on WLI, just as you will be judged for your mummy makeover.

Would be nice if no one gave a fuck what others do with their bodies really.

It sounds like money is tight. Honestly, I'd buy the MJ. It will be far better for your long term health than a tummy tuck and a boob job.

Pugdays5 · 06/11/2025 14:22

How about you give them a try ,and see for yourself how much of the work they do or do not do for you ..
Like you say you are prioritising surgery after weight loss
Why do you care what others do
Live and let live

goforadrive · 06/11/2025 14:22

they've all pilled the weight back on which is such a shame this is as sincere as Tory MPs talking about poverty.

Isobel201 · 06/11/2025 14:23

I've been taking the injections for my diabetes, so getting them free from the doctors. I've lost two stone from April to September, but now I've been stuck in a rut maintaining ever since. Trying to eat as much protein as possible, but I still get the sugar cravings no matter how much my appetite is supressed. What's worse is that the GP surgery have stopped monitoring me. I had to ring up last week for a nurse appointment, and I won't see them until the 20th November now.

AnonKat · 06/11/2025 14:23

God i swear jabs are like a cult on here. Ofcourse its easier for people to lose weight on them, that's why people lose weight. If you weren't on them, you probably would struggle to lose weight!

Pleasegetmeacoffeesotired · 06/11/2025 14:23

People are obviously very defensive about it. Obviously it does make it easier, or people would be able to do it without the jabs though. I don't see what is so offensive about acknowledging that.

I'm glad people have access to such a life-changing medication. I'm curious as to whether the UKs obesity figures have started to go down with the availability of weight loss infections now.

KillerMounjaro · 06/11/2025 14:24

MakeMineADietCoke · 06/11/2025 13:44

It definitely doesn’t stop food cravings. It makes you physically ill if you eat the wrong things but it doesn’t stop you wanting them in the first place.

This is definitely not true for all (or even most?) people.

It definitely stops/reduces my food cravings and it does not make me feel physically ill if I eat the “wrong” things.

Do you use WLI yourself?

AlltheHedgehogsontheWall · 06/11/2025 14:24

I can understand where you're coming from. You feel as though the hard work you've done is devalued because they are claiming that the work they've done is just as hard. It's obviously not. If it was then there wouldn't be so many people who have tried to lose weight for years and then managed it with WLIs. Unless they all just weren't trying before. It's true that weight loss is always hard but it's also easier with WLIs. However, in 2025, no-one knows if your weight loss was achieved with or without the help of WLIs, just like no-one knows if a baby was born with or without pain meds. YOU know how hard you worked, even if the end result is the same.

So true - why is a "mummy makeover" (ew for the name) less judge worthy than WLI?

goforadrive · 06/11/2025 14:22

Eh? Projecting much? It's such a shame that it hasn't worked long term for them. These are my friends who were so happy about shifting the weight using the jabs, couldn't afford them anymore and are now back to square one and I really feel for them. I think the jabs with also changing eating habits/dealing with the triggers for emotional eating works long term, but seeing people pile the weight back on after spending a fortune on the jabs is really sad to see :(

Bear2014 · 06/11/2025 14:24

You certainly sound like you have an issue with WLI and people who use them, and you also sound like you're looking for some kind of gold star for losing weight without them. Personally, I think you can't know unless you have tried, and a lot of people on here and in real life have an awful lot of opinions and no personal experience.

I am on Mounjaro, I don't give a shit if people think it's easier or harder. It's transformed my health.

Things that are easier - you think about food less, it quietens the food noise. You are less likely to over eat as you do feel more full.

Things that are hard - mostly unexpectedly so. You have to be careful to eat the right things, and to eat enough, weirdly. You need to prioritise protein so you don't lose muscle so often end up forcing yourself to eat things you don't fancy. You also really should prioritise some weight bearing exercise even if you have zero energy. I haven't had many side effects but common ones are nausea, constipation, fatigue, feeling very cold. As I said, I've been lucky but suffering with them does NOT sound easy.

Budgeting and finding the money for it is also a challenge, but I've prioritised and made some sacrifices in other areas, and for me it's worth it.

Her opinion is entirely justified and well informed which you have just proved. They saved your life BECAUSE they make it significantly easier. If this wasn't the case you would have saved your life without them. But apparently she's not allowed to state facts because you'll fly off the handle. Get a grip.

ShesTheAlbatross · 06/11/2025 14:25

I don’t know why people get defensive about this. Obviously they make losing weight a lot easier, that’s why people use them! They don’t spend loads of money for it still to be as hard as losing weight without them. They’re a medicine, there’s no medal for doing it the harder way (as much as some people would like there to be).

EstherGreenwood63 · 06/11/2025 14:25

mummy makeover 🤮

Pugdays5 · 06/11/2025 14:25

Plind · 06/11/2025 13:53

I’m not on them but I can still
understand how they work…

They work differently for different people, some get more suppression, some get less ,some people find it is like injecting water ,with some people it helps with cravings, some people it doesn't do .
Some people it works straight away ,some people it doesn't work untill your on higher doses .give it a try ,it might suprise you

Viviennemary · 06/11/2025 14:26

mumofoneAloneandwell · 06/11/2025 13:41

You honestly do have to put in work with the weight loss jabs tbh 🥺, its no miracle cure

Surely its a lot easier otherwise what would be the point of them.

MummytoE · 06/11/2025 14:26

You lost weight without the jags.... Do you want a medal? Just let people do their thing, you sound envious
