Sick of people on weight loss jabs saying you still have to “put in the work” with wl jabs

I’ve lost a fair amount of weight naturally this year. It’s been hellish as I’m fairly sure I have some sort of psychological reliance on comfort eating. I asked a couple of people I know if they recommend I go on WL jabs for the last stretch as I have lost momentum and am stagnating but could probably still do with losing another 20 pounds. They always say well “WL jabs still elan you have to put in the work. The fat doesn’t evaporate”. I’m sorry but WHAT. The injections are doing the hard bit for you. Ie stopping you from wanting to shovel large amounts of unhealthy food in your gob. It’s very annoying. I see this comment online all the time too.

I definitely do not have an issue with people on WL jabs. I would use them too but I am saving up for a mummy makeover so have chosen to save my money as a SAHM.

Very defensive comments imo!

Definitely doesn’t stop my cravings, in fact at times on the higher doses I felt so nauseous that the only food I could stomach was junk! Not a magic bullet by any means.
However it does curb your appetite so at least when you do eat crap, you can’t eat as much of it.
I lost 3 stone naturally in 2024 by doing it the old fashioned way. I struggled after the excesses of Christmas to get back under control and thought I would try mounjaro. It has definitely been an eye opener and I’ve realised what “normal” people feel around food, and that I’ve clearly been missing these hormonal signals my whole life. I’ve lost another 3 stone this year on WLI. It’s changed my life. But I am off them now and still losing, but so much of that has been a mindset shift.

Im on the highest strength Wegovy. On Saturday I ate a chocolate bar for breakfast, large packet of crisps for lunch, a lot of alcohol (cocktails, wine, etc., out for a friends big birthday), steak, chips, bearnaise sauce, kale with Parmesan, chocolate cake.

It doesn’t work the same way for everyone, so I really have to work at it. Every day is a struggle, obviously I try not to eat like that every day, it was a special occasion, but I definitely can if I want to! It’s actually increased my appetite for junk food. I used to a lot of vegetables and protein, but now I crave junk (albeit in smaller quantities). I’ve. I really appetite for vegetables at the moment, just calorie dense food. I have lost weight these last 20months I had been in it, but it’s been by no means easy.

What are you injecting it into your handbag or something? 🫤

MzHz · 06/11/2025 14:03

Plind · 06/11/2025 13:43

But it suppresses your appetite which 99% of the issue…

Im not claiming you can stuff your face and still lose weight but it stops the food cravings

Oh why oh why are you talking about something you know FUCK ALL about?

You’ve heard of the stopping smoking aids? This is exactly like Wlm.

it doesn’t suppress 99% of appetite and nor should it. You achieve the same result, breaking the addiction and living more healthily.

educate yourself while you’re sat on your arse waiting for your mummy make over

I am sick of bitter posts like this one demeaning those who use them with no understanding of the emotional, psychological and health journeys that many people been on before deciding to use them.

If you don’t want to take them yourself - don’t. Otherwise, wind your neck in and keep your opinions to yourself. It’s frankly none of your fucking business.

I’m not on them but I can still
understand how they work…

Except you really don’t… 🙄

Nerdynerdynerd · 06/11/2025 14:09

Curious about what you're wanting from this thread? Validation? A reaction? Congratulations for losing weight without them?

themerchentofvenus · 06/11/2025 14:09

Motnight · 06/11/2025 13:41

🍿

How rude! Surely 🍏would be more appropriate on a diet thread?!? Or is that salt free and sugar free popcorn made with no oil?

@Plind well done with what you have achieved so far. It's about developing life long healthy eating habits and finding replacements for bad habits. A friend of mine took up crocheting to stop snacking as it kept her hands busy. It worked really well. Another friend took to going on a long brisk walk every evening as it made her feel good and less likely to want to snack (because evenings were when she had the most urge to snack, and once she started she found it so hard to stop.). You just need to find a better habit to replace the snacking one.

I don’t begrudge people using them but why can’t some people on the jabs just acknowledge that the hardest part of weight loss (food cravings as a result of deprivation? Is basically taken out of the equation.

Im not jealous. I’d be on them in a heartbeat but im a SAHM and have chosen to spend my disposable income elsewhere

Because for some/most it is isn’t.

I know plenty who still crave food, still eat excessively and believed the WLI was going to make them lose weight.

You just need to go on the weight loss board and see post after post that WLI isn’t working as they believed it would.

You’re wanting a blanket statement for your own misconception and for that YABU.

MattCauthon · 06/11/2025 14:11

Well, I have been on for only a month but I am learning that being on the jabs DOES still require work....

But fuck me, it's a LOT easier than not being on them. The work is doable vs, for me, completely impossible without them.

So YABU to say there's no work involved with jabs. YANBU to think the work without them is harder.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 06/11/2025 14:11

Mummy make overs are normally boob and tummy tucks.

CrossChecking · 06/11/2025 14:12

Ruthietuthie · 06/11/2025 13:48

So, this clearly varies by person, BUT for me (75 lb down, maintaining that weight for a year, at least a stone lower than I ever thought possible for me) I did NO work on WLI.
When I was dieting, I thought constantly about food, battled feeling hunger, and often ended up binge eating. If there was "bad" food in the house, I would think about it constantly and often end up eating the whole packet until I felt sick. It was deeply unhealthy and never successful in the long run.
On WLI, I did not count calories, just ate (protein first, but nothing much different beyond that) what I felt like, stopping when I felt I didn't want more. I lost consistently and have maintained.
Maybe my case is unusual? But there is a reason that people (like me) who have struggled with diets for years are now losing weight like they never did before.

This is it isn't it? There is a reason people who have been overweight sometimes for decades can now lose weight on these jabs. There is a reason people are spending money on them every month. If it was the same amount of difficulty and effort on and off them people wouldn't be buying them and people who have been unable to lose weight wouldn't suddenly be losing weight.

There no shame in it. Loads of us would take jabs to make things that we find high effort suddenly be be effort if we could. Give me a jab that makes chores feel like less effort and I'd be first in line.

Allseeingallknowing · 06/11/2025 13:58

Wouldn’t you have a mummy makeover after losing the weight first?

Exactly. Spend the money on the jabs and just wear a paper bag for now.

Then don't read them. You are the bitter (and ridiculously angry) one here. OP is entitled to her own opinion. You mind your own fucking business, you don't own MN or decide what people are allowed to discuss.

Even if you’re not hungry, you can still eat a load of rubbish.
Eg sweets ,chocolate, cakes, biscuits. You can still drink alcohol. So yes, you do still have to put the work in.

Truetoself · 06/11/2025 14:14

@Plind i am on WLI and completely agree witb you! Yes it cannot make you eat healthy but it will limit yhe amount of crap you eat

Alwaytired44 · 06/11/2025 14:14

Your comment reads like you have no clue about weight loss jabs. The lack of appetite and removal of food noise is merely a side effect and not one that everyone experiences. I’ve been on MJ for 18 months and still feel hungry and think about food ALL the time, I haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing those side effects. So YES I do still have to put the work in and avoid temptation, the only saving grace is I feel fuller quicker so may not be able to eat everything on my plate. But I certainly do still have to make lots of effort. Please educate yourself before parting with your money!

Allseeingallknowing · 06/11/2025 14:14

CNDflag · 06/11/2025 14:00

Wtf is a ‘mummy makeover’?? 😳

Tummy tuck, breast augmentation or reduction, possibly loose skin in back and thighs removed, bingo wings removed. Depends on how much you’ve lost and how much sagging skin remains. If the OP is saving for this yet she seems to have weight to lose first, can’t understand why she wouldn’t have the weight loss injections first, then save for the MM.

My leg. I’ve tried my stomach too, but it doesn’t really make too much difference. Not everyone feels the suppression. I have lost weight though, which is why I am keeping it up.

goforadrive · 06/11/2025 14:14

I don’t understand why you’d want to make life harder. I can understand not wanting the jabs because of concerns re health or cost but just to feel more virtuous than people who did use them is akin to insisting on paying full price when an item you want anyway is on sale 😂

They didn't suppress my appetite at all.

I came off them after a while because they didnt do anything for me

Ineedanewsofa · 06/11/2025 14:16

@Plind If you’re a healthy BMI you wouldn’t qualify for WLI anyway so it’s a moot point for you surely?
People say “you still have to put the work in” because there is so much misinformation out there online that there does seem to be this misconception that it’s a like a supplement or a vitamin that you can bob on and off of and will magically melt the fat off, not that it’s a medication to treat obesity.
It does seem like you do have a bit of a problem with people being of WLIs however

Radiatorvalves · 06/11/2025 14:17

I agree to an extent OP. While on MJ I just didn’t want to eat. I had no interest in food id normally love. I had no enjoyment in wine. On hols when people were having a cold beer, I stuck to water or maybe a Diet Coke. Not because I was being good, but because I just didn’t want the beer. It definitely made life more boring, but I can’t say it was hard work. I’ve upped my exercise a bit and (now off jabs) am maintaining fairly successfully, but I do have to actively tell myself I don’t need the chocolate etc when I really go fancy it.
