The immigration related clown show continues

So now an Algerian national who was released by mistake last week is at large. As if the previous debacle with the Epping forest sex offender wasn’t bad enough.

The fact that we are hearing about this again and again tells us that,
This happens all the time
Foreign national offenders are over represented in crime statistics
Immigration is out of control
People working in Home office, prison service and and every other government department are incompetent and beyond useless.

And these people have the audacity to tell us that they want more of the public’s money in taxes.

At this point, this government (and the previous one) is laughing at us. They are taking the piss out of us. This country is broken and Labour and Tories need to be voted so far into oblivion and out of power that they never get anywhere power, ever again.

No poppy at PMQs and suit shopping in the morning.

Do you think PMQs is the correct place to read out a statement?

Opposing the deportation fellow humans to a prison camp in a third-world country does not make someone a "lefty."

25% of men in the UK have a criminal record. Should they all be deported - something that used to happen until the 1860s?

25% of men in the UK have a criminal record? Hardly. Got the source for this?

I can't find the original source (it was a few years old - I'll post the link if I find it) but the 2024 Home Office figures show that approx. 25% of the population of working age have a criminal record, [Source - The Law Society Gazette - 30 Oct 2024]

I'll concede that the original statement might not reflect the current situation, but it is clear that the number and percentage of people with a criminal record is perhaps higher than generally acknowleged. For example, of men born in 1953 (who therefore don't appear in the above figure for people of working age) 33% had a criminal record.

Where’s the outrage for the 2 women a week killed by white men?!

What makes you think that all of those women were killed by white men?

A rough count up here (80 women allegedly killed by men in the UK in 2024) reveals that 22 (27%) of the men charged with murder are not white.

(A further 5 or 6 men have white but EU/other heritage)

Killed women count: 80 women allegedly killed by men in UK in 2024

Throughout the year the Guardian aimed to report on every woman whose death has led to a man being charged

Yes, that’s why Reeves cried last summer.

She knew she was cornered.

You seem very fixated on Reeves crying. Yes it was deeply unprofessional, but why keep dredging it up?

So why would you want to have even more possible criminals coming to the UK

Everyone who comes to the UK is a potential criminal. Including the ones who come here legally for work or study. Unless you're proposing zero immigration, which would crash the UK economy in record time, this is really not the gotcha you think it is.

Pedallleur · 06/11/2025 20:50

Plenty of stories about female influencers getting jobs in prisons and having sex for content. Others smuggling in drugs, phones etc. Prison Service is struggling and has been for years. Recruitment, retention, overcrowding etc

It’s easier to vet in some cases though. For instance ask for a police report prior to entry.

EngineerIngHappiness · 06/11/2025 21:14

There was a damning article in the Daily Torygraph about asylum claims.

It's nothing new- it can take 10 years for an asylum claim to be processed which is a big problem when you have many claimants who can disappear.

Plus some worrying facts about the pressure on staff to meet targets for ended claims or the case worker could face losing their job.

To be honest the economy is in bad shape now, not really understanding how the immigration we seem to have is helping when we have things like money laundering, people trafficking and so on

I have nothing against those who are self sufficient and can actually pay their way

Really? If we stopped all immigration right now, how do you think the care sector would cope? You could trot out the tired old chestnut about how care homes would just have to pay higher wages, but you know those costs would be passed down to the people buying in care services - so you'd have to pay them higher wages too. And so the cascade would start.

Weaning the UK economy off immigration is possible, but it would be a long process requiring patience and investment. I wouldn't be against it per se, but it is not the simple fix the anti immigrant brigade on here seem to think.

And when you say 'self sufficient and pay their way' - what does that look like for you? Are immigrants allowed to accumulate and claim a state pension (which they will be paying into)? Are they allowed to use the NHS (which their txes pay into) at some point, and how many years would that take? At which point would they be allowed to claim benefits if they became ill or disabled? I know what the Reform position on this is and it disgusts me. I am also aware of the recent bill from Katie Lam MP, which is equally vile. Is that the sort of thing you would advocate?

It was an act of enormous self-pity, and once again, she lied as to the reasons.

No fixation here, beyond the tremendous damage this person is currently inflicting on the UK.

Is she? Not really, thats just your bias coming out, the UK is growing faster than other G7 countries, US aside, inflation stabilised, billions in tech inward investment.
Contrast that with Sunaks recession, just 3 years ago, inflation at 12%, the hiding of unemployment figures by sticking people, esp young people on disability benefits.

Tremendous damage? Yes caused by the Tories.

Of course its fixation, her crying is continuallu mentioned by people like you because you've nothing else and you like to mock, it doesn't even add anything to the discussion, you don't know the reasons, you don't know her personal life nor have access to her medical records, deeply misogynistic too.

She has since managed to deliver several difficult interviews and speeches.

Yours is yet another example of the rightwing constantly attacking Labour women.... maybe we should all stay in our lane? wasn't there a Tory minister who said we should stay at home and knock babies?

I'm blaming Labour for the last 16 months. Have they improved things, or have the figures got worse in that time?
Do you think it was reasonable for Lammy to spend yesterday morning shopping for a new suit?

How would you build more prisons & recruit the staff required inside 16months?

Cannot be done.

How is it Labours fault the prison system still, incredibly, uses paper records, Fax machines & has a staff turn over of around 15%.

Do you have any idea how long it would take to plan, build, install the cabling alone for a modern IT system, they don't even have the power requirements.

You appear to rate yourself as a fair minded person, yet time after time, just show your right wing credentials.

If by 2029, the situation has not improved significantly, then yes of course, it will be on Labour but not yet.

Yep she knew this budget was going to show the lie in the manifesto and break the pledge after the ‘24 one for a one off tax hike.

Starmer too in that last line.

Why the fixation on Reeves’s gender? How odd.

Returning the compliment - yours is an example of the constant left wing bias despite the mounting data illustrating the damage that this is government is doing to the UK economy.

Happy to get into the weeds on this - let me know.

I’ve got to take issue with your assertion that immigrants are over represented in prison. Where have you got that from? I actually looked at the ONS stats recently and foreign born nationals are under represented in prison, so I’d like to know where you got your stats from?

This. The right wing love to tear down female cabinet members in particular. The vile stuff I see posted about them on MN is horrific. Fine to criticise their political performance, but the vitriol is something else. The right wing like to really go for Lammy too, in a way they don't for other male Labour MPs. Wonder why? We know the answer to that, Cummings made it clear the other day.

For the record, I don't think Reeves is doing a great job right now, before I am accused of being a loyal Labour supporter.

You must have skipped over the vitriol on here re Truss, Braverman, Patel, Sunak and now Badenoch.

The foreign born population as of 2021 was approximately 16%
The foreign national prison population is 12%

You are not comparing the same thing - a foreign born person may have British citizenship now.

bozzabollix

I don't think we have a figure for the number of foreign born nationals in prison, - only the number of foreign nationals in prison.
