Personally I love buying and selling on it

I had a really bad experience where a buyer destroyed a brand new item and vinted sided with them. I’ll never use them again to buy or sell and I’ve switched to eBay now it’s free to sell and have had no problems.

WhereIsMyLight · 01/11/2025 19:34

The limit for which I would sell something at is about £10. The limit that I would buy something at from a new seller would be about £5-10, from a seller with a number of recent 5* reviews up to about £40. For anything over those amounts I would use local FB marketplace to check something out in person or use eBay. So it’s fine up to a certain level that you can risk losing but there are a lot of problems and I personally won’t do higher value things for that reason.

Netcurtainnelly · 01/11/2025 19:35

They've done really well.
I think the customer service side coukd be better though.

GehenSieweiter · 01/11/2025 19:36

Online jumble sale.

HansHolbein · 01/11/2025 19:39

Never sold anything but bought quite a lot. Really enjoyed it up until a couple of months ago. Things going missing, or not turning up.

Then, once InPost merged with Yodel, it really went to shit. Customer ‘support’ is abysmal.

Will never use it again now.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 01/11/2025 19:47

I love it.

Seeingadistance · 01/11/2025 19:50

I love it too. Have used it mostly for selling clothes and small things as I’m having a bit of a clear-out. Have bought a couple of things - no problems at all.

TeaAndTattoos · 01/11/2025 19:50

I love it I’m always buying stuff off there mostly diamond arts and little things like that never bought anything massively expensive on there I have seen people having a lot of trouble with clothes and expensive stuff. I see a lot of designer stuff on there but I wouldn’t buy it because it could be fake items that someone is selling for thousands and Vinted have a habit of siding with the seller and buyer is left out of pocket and with a bad item. Vinted is great if your seller but if you’re a buyer you have to be careful.

PigletIsWorried · 01/11/2025 19:53

I like it. Have made about £200 from kids' clothes I'd just have donated otherwise. I do think a lot of people have unrealistic ideas about what their items are worth though!

RandomUsernameHere · 01/11/2025 19:53

Love it too. Just about to package up something that I’ve sold actually.

keepmeright · 01/11/2025 19:55

I use it a lot for selling. It's definitely worth it for me overall but not getting what it's worth really because of delivery & fees. Occasionally buy but just now seems to be lots of fake Nike stuff so that's annoying! I've had a couple issues with items being wrong/fake (again Nike) but got a north face jacket for half the price & it's new so can't complain there!

Dontbeatwat · 01/11/2025 19:56

Ooh I bloody love Vinted. I've sold about £200 ish worth of stuff in the past 2 months and had zero issues. Buy fairly regularly, mainly kids stuff. In the 3 or 4 years I've been on there I've had 2, maybe 3, issues. Maybe I've just been lucky!

Online jumble sale.

Not at all, if you use it properly. I have bought some beautiful clothes, footwear and other things. You just have to know what you want, brand, size, etc. filter, I choose BNWT and check the feedback first!

Nellieinthebarn · 01/11/2025 20:53

I've lost weight over the summer, so needed quite a few clothes for autumn/winter, and also spruced up 3 bedrooms so bought curtains and cushions ect from there as well.

I've been very happy with my purchases. I've only bought clothes that say very good or new condition, from sellers with good reviews, and brands that I am familiar with and know are reasonable quality.

I've pretty much replaced my all my winter clothes, including coats and boots, for about £150. No way would I have been able to afford to do this without Vinted and Ebay. All the bedrooms have new (some new to me, some actually unused) curtains, bedding and cushions. For under £200.

The only issue I have had is with the delivery service, and it did turn up eventually. The sellers have all been fine. I've not sold anything yet.

Edited to add I am very much in the jeans, t-shirts, jumpers and dog walking coats camp. I am retired and my lifestyle has never needed expensive designer gear. Also I am probably in the frumpy category, because I like Brakeburn, Fatface and Seasalt, and love a stripey Breton.

Ikeameatballs · 01/11/2025 20:59

I love it. I buy clothes. I’ve had a couple of items where I’ve raised a concern and everything was sorted v quickly. Only thing that’s annoyed me is when the item is described as X size, and is labelled as such, but is evidently v oversized, some sellers say this but others don’t and then I end up buying stuff which is too big.

I've bought amazing things at jumble sales.

SilenceInside · 01/11/2025 21:02

I love it. I’ve lost a lot of weight and I’ve been through a couple of cycles of selling my larger clothes and getting new stuff via Vinted. I’ve never had a big issue with either selling or buying. Once had a seller just not respond to the order, it was eventually auto-cancelled and my money returned. Other than that, it’s all been fine.

I check the seller ratings before I buy, and would avoid anyone with a poor rating or who seems weird in their responses to feedback. I only buy items where I can see the condition clearly from the pictures, and where the seller has actually written clear details about the item.

I disagree that it’s like a jumble sale. I tend to see things that are well presented and decent quality.

Zempy · 01/11/2025 21:03

I’m addicted. Made about £1500 since April this year.

RaininSummer · 01/11/2025 21:05

I've had some great clothes and shoes as well as board games from Vinted. Had a few misses as well as I am basically fatter than I think I am. Lucky so far with no bad sellers.

MrsBeltane · 01/11/2025 21:07

I've only ever sold items. Great for wardrobe clear outs. I don't buy second hand stuff, it smells odd!

DrCoconut · 01/11/2025 21:07

Things are not as described and I've had to pass on 99% of what I've bought. Not keen really, prefer a charity shop where you can see the item.

greengreyblue · 01/11/2025 21:08

I like it . Have bought and sold. No bad experiences My latest buy is a large leather bag for £20!! Barely used.

Holluschickie · 01/11/2025 21:10

I have just started using it. It's very tempting but so hit and miss.

I bought two blazers this month. Evri lost one so I need to claim a refund. ( my fault as I didnt realise you can choose Royal Mail). The other blazer was lovely but too short.

I find it really hard figuring out how an item will fit without a model photo. I might go back to charity shops.

Silverbirchleaf · 01/11/2025 21:10

Sold a few things. Not had much luck buying stuff, two things never turned up (money refunded) and one wasn’t as described, but still good value.

SilenceInside · 01/11/2025 21:11

If items have enough clear photos, especially of the care label, showing the material it’s made of, as well as measurements in the description then it’s unlikely that they would not be be as described/shown. And if they were significantly not as described, then you can say so, return the item and eventually get your money back.
