Personally I love buying and selling on it

OP posts:
Nanny0gg · 02/11/2025 13:28

I've done well selling - easier than EBay

Haven't bought yet because I can't believe the presentation of most BNWT clothes!

Laying on the floor. Screwed up rags. Only one photo so you have no idea of the back or pattern or detail. Failure to put length in description

If they weren't so lazy I'm sure they'd sell more

I vowed never to use it again after an appalling customer service experience when my item got lost in the post.

Couldn't communicate with a human, just kept getting bot after bot.

Yeah their customer service is abysmal. Probably the worst brand I've ever dealt with. Its just a never ending stream of bots

I ordered something that was quite blatantly fake and it was an absolute headache to sort because I couldn't speak to an actual person, just a bot that took 24hrs to respond. Now my entire feed is just fakes, and vinted ignores any reports on these items and let's the sellers continue scamming because they profit from it.

I'm usually quite careful but now knowing if there was an issue it's such hard work I won't be ordering from them again

It’s my main selling platform. I’ve made over 7k since joining. But I did learn the hard way to regularly cash out as I’ve had issues when having to confirm identity. And sometimes when the site updates it can lock me out for a week.

Fairyliz · 02/11/2025 13:43

I’ve bought some lovely things on there for a good price. However this does mean that when you sell you have to go very low which often doesn’t seem worth it.

Evaka · 02/11/2025 13:55

Generally love and have bought some great stuff but it's currently a mess with payments being held up. Anyone else seeing this?

i bought a mug and received a worn smelly top instead...seller said it wasnt from her and someone had tampered with it..errm no you printed your label and stuck it on for dear life and you can see your address underneath cos you used a used m&s bag...its deffo from you...ffs it was a £2 mug and all this grief

Never sold anything but bought quite a lot. Really enjoyed it up until a couple of months ago. Things going missing, or not turning up.

Then, once InPost merged with Yodel, it really went to shit. Customer ‘support’ is abysmal.

Will never use it again now.

this in spades i paid £55 for perfume I never received as it never reached the shop i sent it to my order was suspended while they investigated i did everything asked of me then one day they sent a message saying i didn’t provide enough evidence and released the money to the seller i tried to contact them so
many times but you get nowhere i had to give up i the end as it was driving me mad

this was mid September and im in no hurry to ever order from them again they’re service when things go wrong is dreadful

I've lost a lot of weight, and Vinted has been great for replacing my entire wardrobe!

What I would say, is that around 80% of stuff arrives smelling musty. Even stuff I've bought with tags. So I guess lots of people have been storing stuff, or just have musty smelling houses.

It comes out with a decent wash, and I would wash anything I bought second hand anyway before wearing it, so I've never mentioned it on any reviews.

I always click on the received and leave feedback asap, because I can imagine it must be annoying for sellers when people don't do that.

I have an enormous pile of clothes to sell from when I was over 5 stone heavier, but haven't quite got round to it and keep putting it off. Don't really know why - I guess I'm probably just a bit wary about hassle.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 02/11/2025 15:05

I really like it for the most part.

I've lost 2 stone this year and have replaced my entire wardrobe via Vinted. I haven't tried selling yet but need to get my act together and do so to recoup back some of the money I've spent!

Ive hardly had any issues but I get really pissed off with Vinted's sizing. No, size 12 isn't a Large in any other world. A size 12 top will fit me fine. A top labelled L will drown me.

Twiceadaytoday · 02/11/2025 15:15

I'm a pro seller, sell kids clothing samples from high street brands so am on it ALOT. It's a high volume easy to use platform - I love it and frequently buy too.

AreYouBrandNew · 02/11/2025 15:29

Just been buying stuff today for DS after not using for a while. Finding it really annoying - created a shortlist of a few favourite t shirts and started getting tons of messages from sellers - ‘do you like my stuff’ / offers. They are £4 T-shirts just let me decide in my own time. My inbox is now full of nonsense messages. I’d only want that level of ‘customer service’ or follow up for collector or luxury item.

starofthecountydown · 02/11/2025 15:32

I have only ever bought stuff. Mostly very positive experiences. But a few times orders have been cancelled by the seller for one reason or another. A couple of sellers had lost the items. Another one didn’t like the courier I chose from her list, but the one she insisted on didn’t deliver to my postcode. Another one didn’t give a reason. I mostly buy items advertised as new with tags and the odd item in very good condition. Am fed up with the number of people who advertise something as new without tags, then go on to explain in the blurb that it has been worn ‘a couple of times’ or ‘a few times’. It’s not bloody NEW then, is it? I know why they do it, but it still pisses me off.

Unrelated to my personal experience, I don’t like it when sellers show themselves modelling the clothes. I’m not stupid enough to think they haven’t tried the thing on, but I don’t want to see, with my own eyeballs, anyone wearing my potential top🤣 Worse when it’s someone’s bare feet in shoes/sandals🤢

JMSA · 02/11/2025 15:34

I absolutely love Vinted. Mostly I just buy, as opposed to sell. The few things I’ve sold have gone really smoothly.

It could also be the postal bags.
I had an issue with the ones I ordered suddenly must of changed something as was fine for years then suddenly newest batch smelt like smoke.
smoke free house but the bags stank and could imagine making the items smells as well

Sartre · 02/11/2025 15:36

Absolutely brilliant. Been using it since the beginning and I’ve bought and sold hundreds of items, almost never disappointed. I used to be an avid eBay user years ago but the selling fees were astronomical so it was hard to make money. Vinted is so much smoother.

there’s a setting under privacy “notify sellers when I favourite..” turning that off should fix that. I don’t get them as I have it turned off.

Gerrysmum · 02/11/2025 15:38

As a seller I find it a blessing and a curse. Ive recently fallen down a rabbit hole of buying stuff on another app called Whatnot (avoid at all costs!) and fallen into the trap of thinking I could make some money selling my 'bargains' on Vinted. Almost all of the stuff I sell is brand new and I don't over price things but I've had some stupid offers.. e.g £3 for a BNWT Karen Millen dress, and then had a load of guilt tripping and some abusive comments when I've rejected their offer. Its great if you want to get rid of cheap stuff and aren't looking to make a lot of money. Ive really messed up with Whatnot and need to find away to make my money back, Vinted isnt looking like its much of a solution.

🙌thanks. I knew there would be something but couldn’t find it. Now locked down!

FancyLimePoet · 02/11/2025 15:47

I think it’s rubbish. People seem to sell things for 10% less than you would in the shops. Why would you bother? Then other’s quite obviously buy things in outlets/sales and sell them on for more.

I would like it better if people didn’t become professional thrifters to make a quick buck! What I want is worn a few times wedding outfits etc.

Bought a bundle of clothes for my little one and they had obviously been handed down several times and were just washed to oblivion so I just chucked them. Why bother when you can pick stuff up in the supermarkets for pennies.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 02/11/2025 15:47

I prefer Ebay.

My recent Vinted experience was I saw something I liked, offered a price but didn't hear anything back and then the item wasn't for sale so presumably it was sold. Would have been nice if I'd had a reply.

Friend I have loves it and is always on there.

Sellers are not obliged to respond to offers. They may have been holding out for a better offer and got one.

Yes. I am not selling or buying anything else on there until they correctly update my balance.

PlaceIntheClouds · 02/11/2025 22:00

Found a classic tonight

Somebody is trying to sell an old Kwik Save carrier bag for £20. It's even got a ruddy great hole in the side.

😂

rookiemere · 03/11/2025 08:51

@PlaceIntheCloudsI thought it was ridiculous enough that someone had a swimsuit which had that stretching and fading of costume all up the back i.e. fit only for the bin, for sale at £2.50 with the caption “lots of life left in this yet”. Absolutely bizarre when by the time you have added in p&poptart and the vinted fee, you could get a new one in the sales from say Sainsburys or Morrisons.

Allswellthatendswelll · 03/11/2025 08:59

I buy loads of stuff on there, all my kids clothes in bundles and new clothes for me (my size and style have changed a lot over the years). I do also sell on there but only any of my clothes that might be worth something. I don't really bother selling kids clothes unless they are desirable brands.
