Why does all children clothing have Stitch on?

Went shopping today with my 13 year old (petite girl, so still in older child section).
Why on earth is Disney’s Stitch on so much stuff in so many stores.
We found Stitch clothing in Zara, H&M & Primark. But I’m sure it’s probably also on clothing in other stores.
AIBU to not understand the choke hold Stitch currently has on the child clothing market? I truly don’t know many children/teenager who even enjoy the movies.

Agree. It's been out for years and is no way a current favourite amongst the small children I have and know. I don't see people wearing it much either, compared to Moana and Frozen kit.

PinkPonyClubDancer · 31/10/2025 21:52

Because it was released as a live action movie earlier this year.

Butterflywings84 · 31/10/2025 21:54

My kids love it (8 and 3). Clearly sells or it wouldn’t be everywhere. There’ll be another trend along soon enough though

Nervousbuilder · 31/10/2025 21:55

There was a new one this year.

The live action movie but also because stitch is very very popular in Japan so presumably the china churns our the stitch stuff for their marker and then flogs anything left over to the UK

Tiebiter · 31/10/2025 21:57

See also hello kitty and friends

eurochick · 31/10/2025 22:07

We went to EuroDisney recently and Stitch merch was everywhere. It’s a popular character at the moment.

Do your children love the movie? I am very curious as I haven’t heard of many/any children enjoying the movie.

Yes- that could make sense.

Totally get that at Disney- just surprised how many shops are selling it too. Especially for older kids. Can’t imagine a single tween/teenager rocking a Stitch hoodie.

In Ireland. It's everywhere here too. My kids and nieces love it (age between 7 and 2) I've seen a lot of tweens wearing hoodies with Stitch. It is everywhere though

Is it the movie they love, including teens? Or just the merchandise?
Just very interested in knowing if this merchandise push is a huge marketing spin & people are buying into the stitch stuff without loving the movie?

interesting to know teens wear the hoodies near you as well.

Yes ive noticed this too, my daughter doesn’t like it so it’s annoying how much stuff it’s on.

TheHairInClaudiasEyes · 31/10/2025 22:20

My kids are adults now and still love Stitch and so does my 30 year old niece. They queued for ages when they were 15 and 13 for this photo.

TheendofmrY · 31/10/2025 22:21

Yeah I don’t get this either. My DS is always wanting Stitch merch but has never actually seemed that interested in the film. Maybe the character’s really appealing but the story’s not up to it? It’s not just since the new film came out either.

mystepballchange · 31/10/2025 22:22

I have noticed this and it’s strange. I know it was a live action movie earlier this year but it is odd how some characters dominate the clothing and toys - my DD loves Moana but can’t find much stuff. It’s all Frozen (which she also likes but I do feel a bit like that’s been forced upon her in a way!) Boys it’s all Spider-Man.

Mermaidsarereal · 31/10/2025 22:27

This also annoys my 13 year old DD who is now too cool to wear anything Disney, I even see a lot of adult Stitch clothing.

Ineedanewsofa · 31/10/2025 22:30

DD10 gets so annoyed clothes shopping as “everything” has Stitch on! I also don’t know anyone whose kids enjoyed the movie!

octoegg · 31/10/2025 22:31

I've always found the boys = Spider man thing strange too. What toddler's watching spider man?! They now have Spidey and friends or something but the character on the clothes is usually the grown up one. Odd.

Alasar · 31/10/2025 22:36

The kids love the movie too both the old and new one.

Peridoteage · 31/10/2025 22:39

My 6 year old just thinks stitch is cute.

She's seen the original film and enjoyed it, i wouldn't call it a favourite though. What tends to really stick are films with great songs - encanto, moana, but then more recently k-pop demon hunters, she is constantly singing soda pop.

She also loves hello kitty, she doesn't know it as "hello kitty" though, she just thinks its a cute cat, and in an ideal world she would have cats on all her clothes because she loves cats.

Eenameenadeeka · 01/11/2025 00:53

Because of the new film. They always make heaps when a new film is out

Justacigarette · 01/11/2025 00:55

on the bright side, at least Morrisey can go out tonight

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 01/11/2025 00:58

My 7 year old and her friends are obsessed with stitch!
