Dd wants to be an artist and is taking part in Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year! This was filmed back in Easter during her school holidays and is being aired tomorrow night. It's terrifying! Wow! Thanks so much all. Lovely kind words from all. I will have to watch the programme again when I can enjoy it a bit more! Ruby did really well though. Some of the cut was interesting. For example on the day, she hadn't actually started the face at all when the judges made their half-way comments!! They showed her painting a bit further on than I remember it being at that stage. Emily Atak also said such kind things to Ruby, much more than ended up in the cut. She couldn't stop looking at Ruby's painting!

Honestly, I think that Ruby’s painting was exceptional and by far the best there, it may not have looked exactly like Emily, but I don’t think the others looked any more like her. Her actual painting in limited time under pressure was incredible. I was so excited when Emily picked Ruby’s painting to take home. I honestly would have picked Ruby’s above the others. Congratulations and very proud Dmum moment for you.

Just watching the repeat on Sky Arts. It takes a lot of self confidence to work publicly to time. Well done her!

I watched the episode yesterday evening and thought your Ruby was amazing. So talented, and lovely herself! And all credit to her for putting herself out there. I loved both her submission and her portrait of EA. And clearly Emily herself loved it too!

Thank you so much, all! It was really interesting to watch the time lapse of her painting Emily. She’s put that on her social media. It really shows her approach on the day - which if I’m honest was a little different from usual, but then she did have only 4 hours and lots of interruptions.

I just watched the episode and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think your dd ‘s portrait was amazing and Emily Atack obviously did too.
