Dd wants to be an artist and is taking part in Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year! This was filmed back in Easter during her school holidays and is being aired tomorrow night. It's terrifying! Ah how wonderful. She is very talented and her work is beautiful - so well observed and executed.
I paint (self-taught) and not portraits and she is a million times better than me.
I hope she enjoyed doing the show - I’m sure it was stressful but I expect she did fantastic work. She has a bright future in art!

I hope Ruby had a wonderful day and got some good advice and feedback from the judges and other artists. And she will always know that Emily liked her painting enough to choose it to take home.

It should be a massive boost to her confidence that at 17 she can hold her own on a show of that stature. She definitely has what it takes to be a professional artist. In fact I am wondering now how much it costs to commission her to paint me!
