I went this week and was looking around at the likely demographic

I do love a Toby carvery - I am working class though!

Interestingly, someone’s class is rarely decided by the person themself.
It’s a third party deal.

Well quite. People see them eating in chain carveries and make all sorts of assumptions about their income, upbringing, education and interests based on a short observation.

I’m not interested in justifying my class to you. I know my life and my background and I know how I identify. You know nothing about me and have no right to argue with me about it.

Just to use yourself as an example of how you classify someone’s class

Yes but unless they have power over me, it doesn’t matter.

if they have power over me, i strongly suspect we are aligned on our view of my class 😂

I love a Toby carvery. And yes,I would regard myself as coming from a working class family. Actually,I probably shouldn't be on Mumsnet, should I? 😂

But it’s an example you’ll pick apart, demanding that I justify minor details. I’ve done enough of that already. It’s not interesting and adds nothing to the discussion.

Of course it is, a high % of this fine country is working class. It’s popular. Same as ‘Spoons, that’s working class.

Back in the day Berni was working class.

I haven’t picked anything apart I already said I agree with you that the stuff about liking football/butlins vs centre parks/ having kids over 30 is nonsense. I think it’s more to do with income but you say it’s not income so what is it that defines it? In your opinion? The other stuff you said was kind of vague
