How is that evil?

It could be misguided, excessive perhaps, stupid and rude even. But evil? I mean what’s the worst that’s going to happen - some people might be offended or feel unwelcome, possibly a bit scared

You want to put that in the bucket along with the murder of Rhiannon Whyte, the abuse of children etc? Give your head a wobble.

It is abusing children.

If you don't see that, it's you with the problem.

If you really think the millions of people who have already voted for Reform are evil then there is clearly little hope for you or democracy in this country.

Why must modern society dilute words until they are meaningless.

Trying to brand the entire swathe of one’s political opponents as “evil” is childish and corrosive to democratic society. Unfortunately this sort of behaviour is becoming typical of the modern left.

Agree it’s nonsense but that’s SM for you, if people don’t want to vote for the left keep ramping up attacks as if it will help.

Not everyone wants Labour, in fact their support is dropping each week.

Agree with you here re Labour voters.

I am 48 in January and have been a Labour voter all my life. I will never vote for them again. It really pains me to say that I don’t think I’ll vote for anyone again. I cannot see any party getting any good handle on local ( I am in Birmingham), national or international issues.

After ww2 the UK was bombed to smithereens.
We didn't all say ,fuck it ..let's leave and find another country not in ruins .
Everyone pulled together and rebuilt it ..it took many years ,but no one decided another country was a better bet

Err we brought in immigrants to help with the reconstruction

No, we didn’t. We didn’t need them. Stop repeating this lie as through its a fact. It’s demonstrably untrue.

Not at all. To call it a ‘moral panic’ is to dismiss and deprioritise women and girls. It’s an old line that got used at the GE. It won’t wash anymore.

I don’t think that uncontrolled migration is useful because we can’t adjust infrastructure at the speed of inflow. Lots of people complaining about not getting appointments on the NHS - lots of people complaining about the expense of putting up migrants in hotels and rents going up more quickly than pay packets. There is a connection - rapid demographic change is organisationally challenging and our system of government cannot organise very well, and also it cannot manage money.

You might want to check out the 1948 British Nationality Act. The British government actively recruited in the West Indies because there was a labour shortage.

guinnessguzzler · 26/10/2025 12:51

Slightly off topic but does anyone know / can explain how prisoners are released by mistake? I mean, what is the process and where is it going wrong for this to happen? Are people being released instead of other people? Is paperwork with the release date being mis-read? Are they releasing multiple people at once and someone just accidentally gets in the wrong group? (All prisoners for release today wait in the gym hall, all prisoners staying wait in the canteen?) Is bribery involved? I read somewhere that well over 200 prisoners were mistakenly released in the most recent year (to March 2025) so I'm intrigued to know how it actually happens as I genuinely can't understand it. Does anyone know?

Kimura · 26/10/2025 02:41

How do you suggest they do that?

I’m not sure but again why do I need to worry about it

i bet we give foreign aid to a lot of these countries anyway

my dgps grew up poor with no welfare and went through WW2 as I suspect a lot of others ancestors did.

I don’t disagree about the WW2 scenario and how people had to get on with it and rebuild. They had no choice

Netcurtainnelly · 26/10/2025 13:19

Some of them are so determined to come here they are flashing knives at anyone who tries to stop them getting on the boats.

Lovely People not.

How many stars are the hotels that asylum seekers get to stay in for free?

The one near me was 3 star.

The women and children who'd been living there and integrated into the community were moved out and single men moved in. I don't blame the local people being upset now they have groups of men hanging around with nothing to do.

It was never the intention or expectation that these people would want to stay permanently.

Why did the Act give them the right to do so then?

‘Moral panic’ would you use that line with Rhiannon’s family and five year old son?

According to what i saw on the news Rhiannons sister is now bringing up her five year old nephew due to the murder of his mother. Ive heard that kinship carers get fuck all help financially unlike foster carers who get it when fostering a child unrelated to them. Im sure Rhiannons sister loves and adores her nephew but she does now have a child that she didnt plan for or choose to have so how about the Government who helped to cause this cough up what a foster carer would get and/or help her financially. I know there is the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board but that will take time.

I am entitled to my view, and I view fascism (which is what it is, gloss over it though you may) as evil. You don't get to vote in extremists and then wash your hands of it. Sorry, but no.

Well you are a lovely human being aren’t you? I take it you accept no services from immigrants.

How the fuck do you think this country functions dear? Lots of immigrants doing the work we ca not or will not do.

Have you seen the posts about how Brits are unwilling to do live away from home fruit picking jobs.
a, because some MN busybody will report their SH home as abandoned
b. Tenants arent actually allowed to live away for the time these jobs demand anyway.
c. but that doesnt stop the SH haters slagging them off for not doing these jobs.

There are no "job that British people won't do". Wages would just have to rise if there were no immigrants. The main reason immigrants were encouraged to come here following WW2 was to suppress wage rises due to lack of supply and increased demand.

That's exactly what's happening in my home town now. There's been a hotel used for homeless single mothers and homeless families for a few years, ever since covid really, and now they're all being turfed out because the hotel is being "repurposed" for asylum seekers. It's a sodding disgrace. Of course, council havn't put plans in place to re-home the people being thrown out - apparently every current resident has to approach the council separately to "discuss options".

I don't have a problem at all with immigrants who work legally, pay taxes, adhere to laws, etc. I have a massive problem with the ones who don't work, or work in the black economy, and those who don't comply with our laws. See the difference???

Losing your temper, dear?

Says a lot about you that you think bringing in a underclass of immigrants to do the jobs we supposedly can’t or won’t do is a good thing.

There are 9 million economically inactive people in the UK, now you might be a "lovely human being " willing to write them off as unemployable and lazy but I'm not.

Employment would benefit their health and society.
