These replies are so weird. Why are people being so bitchy & competitive? "I'm sure you thought you looked a certain way" "you're deluded" etc.
I'm 5ft 7. In the early noughties (when sizes were far less generous) I was a size 10 at 11 stone. I'm fairly sure that would be a size 8 now. I was a size 12 at 13 stone. I was always into fitness however so proportionally more muscle, less bodyfat than most people. Bone density and frame is obviously a factor too. Many people look fat despite having a healthy BMI and vice versa.
I find this thread sad for various reasons. The OP is clearly suffering with low self esteem, I don't know why but it's nothing to do with her figure which is beautiful.
On top of that, someone in her real life is trying to tear her down. The appropriate response would have been "why would you be wondering what size dress I'm wearing? Were you hoping to borrow it?"
I genuinely thought we were beyond this, it seems more like a conversation people would have had thirty years ago. Size-shaming to me about clothes seems as bizarre as size-shaming about shoes or eye colour or whatever; who cares? However perhaps these days aren't in the past and I'm just living in my own little world and thinking we have all moved on from this bullshit. I did visit a friend in a UK city last week who I haven't seen for years and I was unsettled by how much she referred to people's size, weight and appearance even when it had absolutely nothing to do with the topic.
