I really struggle with not feeling good or pretty enough and when someone asked me what size my dress was she said she thought it would've been at least a 16 not a 10.

Honestly it sounds like someone is jealous...no way do you look fat in that photo ...I'd have guessed a size 10. And I wish I had those legs of yours! 😄

BretonStripe · 23/10/2025 07:58

Anyone else fail to click on the image to open it fully last night?! I think there were a few, judging by the posts 🙈

These threads are always eye opening. All of these 11 stone, sz12 answers... I'm 5ft7 and at 11 stone world be a Sz16. I'm currently 10 stone and a Sz14. At 9.5 stone I might just about be a 12, but a comfy 12 at 9st. At 8.5 stone I was a bigger sz 10.

Edited

I’m 5ft 7, 11 stone and a size 10.

No way. I'm 5 ft 8 and 13st and a lot bigger than op. I have an athletic build. You're deluded.

@takeadaytomyself2025 you look gorgeous lass take no notice of jealous bastards.

What do you mean “no way”? What don’t you get about different shapes? I have wide hips and shoulders, never had a petite frame even as a teen so weight hangs off me well.

You can believe what you like, it's a long time ago now, I've seen enough photos. I am way less curvy now.

I work in fitness and regularly weigh and measure clients - it is amazing how different the same weight looks on people.

OP you have a great figure and that woman is a total weirdo.

Thankyou, honestly there’s some small minded people on here who won’t accept truth.

Goditsmemargaret · 23/10/2025 12:03

These replies are so weird. Why are people being so bitchy & competitive? "I'm sure you thought you looked a certain way" "you're deluded" etc.

I'm 5ft 7. In the early noughties (when sizes were far less generous) I was a size 10 at 11 stone. I'm fairly sure that would be a size 8 now. I was a size 12 at 13 stone. I was always into fitness however so proportionally more muscle, less bodyfat than most people. Bone density and frame is obviously a factor too. Many people look fat despite having a healthy BMI and vice versa.

I find this thread sad for various reasons. The OP is clearly suffering with low self esteem, I don't know why but it's nothing to do with her figure which is beautiful.

On top of that, someone in her real life is trying to tear her down. The appropriate response would have been "why would you be wondering what size dress I'm wearing? Were you hoping to borrow it?"

I genuinely thought we were beyond this, it seems more like a conversation people would have had thirty years ago. Size-shaming to me about clothes seems as bizarre as size-shaming about shoes or eye colour or whatever; who cares? However perhaps these days aren't in the past and I'm just living in my own little world and thinking we have all moved on from this bullshit. I did visit a friend in a UK city last week who I haven't seen for years and I was unsettled by how much she referred to people's size, weight and appearance even when it had absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

I’m 5ft 7, 11 stone and a size 10.

The OP is also 5'7, but lighter than you. She wears size 10-12 so you're more or less the same size.

Yet you were also saying when you're 2 stone heavier at 13 stone you look like she does now? I can see why people are confused TBH.

This is me now at 5ft 7 11 stone size 10 so yes we’re the same height and size but different builds. Everyone is different, hate to post pics but some people just aren’t believing that different people have different shapes.

Pretty enough for... what? who? What is this minimal standard you expect yourself to meet and who set it and have they any right to rule your life and self-esteem?

I effectively said in my first post I couldn't possibly tell (basically photo was too blurry) and when this lady got it wrong, that's on them they couldn't figure it out, not on you.

I'm barely taller than OP... My weight is probably just under 10 stone & I need size 16 in tops sometimes to get my big shoulders in them. People need clothes that fit. That's all the shop server cares about.

RedRec · 24/10/2025 09:41

Size 14 and about 11 and a half stone.

You look great, as does the OP. You both look about the same size to me, although, as you say, different shapes.

I don't know why you think you have a wide skeleton though, you look very slim through the hips in that photo. More so than OP for sure.
