To think this dream job is just sad.

MN posted a link with a ‘dream job’ so of course I clicked it and when I saw the insane salary I read on.

It just made me so sad.

It feels like they’ve had children just to moulded them into what they think is the perfect person.

They waited too long for the 5yo, so now they’re starting on the 1yo.

Its like something out if a movie where babies are bred and moulded into a certain design.

Why not let kids be kids and give them support and opportunities but let them choose their own path.

AIBU to feel so sorry for kids like this?

Yes.

The 5yr as the "failed" v1.0 just bizarre.

The hours and pay are fab though!

CottonDeTulear · 22/10/2025 08:46

Good grief. Poor kid.

nasalfluvaccine · 22/10/2025 08:47

What’s wrong with it?

Saying it was too late for rhe 5 year old is weird but what’s wrong with getting one on one tutoring like that?

Nifty50something · 22/10/2025 08:50

Good lord! Quintessentially English? Does Nigel Farage have a 1 year old? The biculturalism bit makes sense also given his wife is German.

The whole thing is sad but also very bizarre. That kid is going to write a book about his messed up childhood someday I reckon. Hopefully he'll have the wherewithal to rebel as a teen and figure out how to live his own life rather than fit a very tight mould his parents want to cram him into.

DancingLions · 22/10/2025 08:51

The pay is amazing but I imagine the parents would be a nightmare to work for!
It's very full on for the poor kid and yes, saying it's too late for the 5yr old is weird.

AzurePanda · 22/10/2025 08:53

That’s a heartbreaking advert. My daughter is a Norland Nanny and it’s amazing how parents think they can “fix” everything for a child, the level of control in some households is insane.

Ginmonkeyagain · 22/10/2025 08:54

Strong Russian Oligarch energy. I reckon £40k of that salary is for doing the job and the remainder is danger money for putting up with inevitable hellish employers and children.

theresapossuminthekitchen · 22/10/2025 08:56

I’m not even sure what a tutor would be doing for a 1-yr-old that would be culturally ‘quintessentially English’ beyond English nursery rhymes…?! Taking them to rowing clubs and Lords isn’t going to make them more English, especially not as a preschooler!

I wonder how many people there are out there who went to the top schools and universities, are specialist in early years education and have worked for the royal family? And the successful applicant will have more than these minimum requirements!

SprayWhiteDung · 22/10/2025 08:57

How come another thread, OP? People have been commenting on the main thread about how they find it sad.

Mollydoggerson · 22/10/2025 08:57

An easy job for a suitable tutor.

A little bit daft on the parents behalf, if they had family connections with that kind of background, they wouldn't need to pay a nanny to teach the child etiquette.

The 5 year old could benefit from the tutor too. Maybe the 5 year old fell in with the wrong crowd and is telling the parents to F off.

Goldbar · 22/10/2025 08:59

Absolutely bizarre. I wonder if this child's "education" is going to include everyday experiences such as catching a bus, jostling with other kids in soft play, being bored on the sidelines of an older sibling's sports match or "helping" to do the shopping in a supermarket.

What some people want for their children never fails to amaze me.

I would have said Chinese! But yes. Horrible for both children and, I would imagine a nightmare to work for. Especially if their second child is a 5 year old ' failure' too!

ladyofshertonabbas · 22/10/2025 09:02

Absolutely rank!

SouthernNights59 · 22/10/2025 09:02

Poor kid!

notacooldad · 22/10/2025 09:05

I thought we couldn't do a thread about a thread! We never used to anyway.

They should be proud of that. Quintessentially English ..

That is the weirdest TES advert I have ever seen. Feel so sorry for the kids. What’s happening with the 5 year old is he off to the local comp?

Donostiera · 22/10/2025 09:09

Horrifying!

MiddleAgedDread · 22/10/2025 09:11

It's ridiculous but for £180k I'm more than game for taking a 1yr old to Wimbledon and Lord's and the odd concert!!

Favouritefruits · 22/10/2025 09:14

Any early years professionals worth their salt would not have anything to do with this, bonkers! Poor child!

oldclock · 22/10/2025 09:14

😂at the idea that Harrow is a top-flight school. Those who attend it have always been known as 'double cream' - rich and thick.

BunnyLake · 22/10/2025 09:17

Sounds like a home as full of warmth as an igloo in the arctic on a particularly cold day.

Me too, I’m just not sure I can convince this family my ‘sarf’ London accent is in fact RP.

A tutor for a 1 year old child??? Jesus christ

JHound · 22/10/2025 09:22

I read that and laughed out loud. It’s like a spoof. It’s giving wealthy foreigner obsessed with monarchy and Downton Abbey who wants to raise a child to be like they stepped out of an upper class family in the late 19th / early 20th century.
