To think this dream job is just sad.

MN posted a link with a ‘dream job’ so of course I clicked it and when I saw the insane salary I read on.

It just made me so sad.

It feels like they’ve had children just to moulded them into what they think is the perfect person.

They waited too long for the 5yo, so now they’re starting on the 1yo.

Its like something out if a movie where babies are bred and moulded into a certain design.

Why not let kids be kids and give them support and opportunities but let them choose their own path.

AIBU to feel so sorry for kids like this?

@ThisGentleRaven

I don't really care about them one way or another, they from a different world than mine, but I find some of the posts on this thread very hypocritical - and posters sounding more jealous than anything.

That's a real stretch. What this job ad describes is an environment where all the child's education is geared towards enabling him/her to fit into a particular world which he hasn't come from (and which only really exists in public imagination, not in reality).

There's nothing wrong with assimilation and aspiration but training a child to basically become two-dimensional checklist of what British privilege looks like suggests a very one-track approach to child-rearing. A child reared like this will feel that he or she has "failed" if he or she doesn't exactly match up to the expectations of this world. It's very high pressure, very binary and very lacking in nuance or empathy.

I don't think its hypocritical to point out that this isn't an environment which promotes much individuality or free thinking (or care). And I'm certainly not jealous: honestly I can't think of anything worse.

It's possible to think that other people's aspirations are off-key and self-defeating without being racist or hypocritical.

MissAmbrosia · 22/10/2025 10:58

Fuck me. And I thought I had seen it all!

Zov · 22/10/2025 10:59

@Thepeopleversuswork Agreed. No-one is jealous. 🙄 Most people are just gobsmacked that anyone would want to do this to a child.

AzurePanda · 22/10/2025 11:00

Every single thing in that advert goes against all studies into what actually benefits a child’s development.

Quantumfisiks · 22/10/2025 11:05

RainbowBagels · 22/10/2025 09:01

I would have said Chinese! But yes. Horrible for both children and, I would imagine a nightmare to work for. Especially if their second child is a 5 year old ' failure' too!

Also thought Chinese parents.

They basically want to raise a Jacob Rhys Mogg.

This job would be a nightmare. I also wonder how anyone with early years experience would also tick all the other boxes.

they’ve also decided that this kid will like cricket and rugby- poor child can’t even choose their own hobbies.

How come another thread, OP? People have been commenting on the main thread about how they find it sad.

Sorry I didn’t realise there was another thread about this, else I would have gone on that one.

I am glad I am not the only one that finds this sad and weird!

As PPs have said the parents sound very controlling and they must be a nightmare to work with.

I definitely think a book or at least therapy will be needed when these poor kids are adults like PPs have said.

Zov · 22/10/2025 11:08

I didn't see the other thread either @Cucy

Maia77 · 22/10/2025 11:12

They obviously know nothing about child development and what's really important at this stage of child development. Poor child.

TheIceBear · 22/10/2025 11:12

I actually find this really weird. Could it be fake ? If not , are they right in the head ?

Cucy · 22/10/2025 11:16

ThisGentleRaven · 22/10/2025 10:36

What I find amusing, and surprising, is the reaction of posters.

Not talking about the tutoring and everything about the child, but why are people so offended rich families are so admiring and impressed by British Culture and British life, it's their ultimate goal? That (and only that) is flattering?😂

or is it just racism, and "British culture" is too good for anyone non-British, even if the angry people are nowhere near the Upper class themselves anyway

It’s the intensity behind it.

If you are raised in Britain, follow British rules, go to a British school and have British friends - you are going to act British.

How can a 5 year old be a failure because they weren’t taught to be British enough when they were raised here.
It’s madness.

And what’s so wrong about following British rules and values but also bring proud of your heritage and dual nationality.

The music, sports and schools must all be what they have decided are properly British.
Why is classical music from western countries better than soul music from New Orleans.

It’s the fact that they have an idea of the child and adult they want and they will do anything to create it.
Its cruel.

Cucy · 22/10/2025 11:18

I feel like applying just to see the madness in person but saying that they would absolutely hate me.

I am 100% British but don’t do hardly anything that they see as being ‘proper’ British.

Rewis · 22/10/2025 11:21

I just realised both parents are from a different culture. I was confused how they can cultivate bicultural environment if they libe in england and needs the most English person ever to be the tutor

TheUsualChaos · 22/10/2025 11:24

Expect the Nanny does 3pm onwards, who no doubt was also very carefully selected to be quintessentially English.

Do it and report back! 😆

HelpMeGetThrough · 22/10/2025 11:27

You just know they are going to be right bastards to work for and the nanny will want to twat you for stepping her toes.

If that poor little bugger hasn’t got his PhD by 2 years old, the mug taking on this job will mysteriously fall out a window.

I am an early years eacher, but wouldnt be suitable. I would encourage too much learning through play. My accent would not be good enough either .

But, if they can afford that , then hopefully they will have money for his (and especially his sibling's therapy later on )

Icecreamandcoffee · 22/10/2025 11:29

Annoyeddd · 22/10/2025 09:52

You forgot about giving them an iPad to play with or shoving in front of the telly with a bag of stinky crisps while you have your nails and eyelashes done.
We could job share so kid gets a balance with my estuary accent

Completely forgot about that experience. With that much disposable income they will probably have a cinema room so we can put Peppa pig on the cinema screen followed by paw patrol so they have experience or multiple different types of screen time. After all, TV screen time is different screen time to iPad screen time.

Rewis · 22/10/2025 11:30

Oh how the other half lives. The stuff individually is not too bad, outside of the comment about the 5yo. But together with the tone and adjectives it makes it sound really messed up.

I have a feeling nobody will be good enough. They'll hire and fire a lot. 1yo are all the same. No matter on money and pedigree. The parents will he disappointed if the child likes Peppa and blame the tutor. If the child wants to play with cars instead of polo, tutors fault.

TroysMammy · 22/10/2025 11:33

There will probably be an advert for a therapist for the children in a few years time.

Zov · 22/10/2025 11:34

How does anyone know these are not British born parents? Did I miss something? Or are people just assuming?

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 22/10/2025 11:38

Like a weird mix of Little Lord Fauntleroy and Pip from Great Expectations. Someone should tell the parents money doesn't buck the class system and let the kid be a kid. He's 1 ffs.

usedtobeaylis · 22/10/2025 11:44

Poor kids.

GingerBeverage · 22/10/2025 11:49

It would be just as weird for someone to stipulate any other accent.

If anyone gets to interview, please dress up as Mary Poppins.

This is exactly how Mohamed al Fayed tried to bring up Dodi, to elevate his family into English society. It seems extreme to us, but for someone desperate to fit into high society it probably makes sense.

Exactly my thoughts. I think the trump card for any applicant will be if they have any personal high society connections as well as at least some of the required criteria.

Blimey though, reading it you’d think he’s a secret heir in waiting to the throne or something!

Mist admit I was very jealous to read that a car and driver is on hand for any excursions out!

JetFlight · 22/10/2025 11:57

It’s really sad the way it goes on about cultural bias. As if the child hast to ignore all his cultural background and only be “English” and appreciate only western culture.
Highly educated English are often aware of other cultures. Imagine trying to teach a child possibly about their own culture but from an outsiders point of view.
