To think this dream job is just sad.

MN posted a link with a ‘dream job’ so of course I clicked it and when I saw the insane salary I read on.

It just made me so sad.

It feels like they’ve had children just to moulded them into what they think is the perfect person.

They waited too long for the 5yo, so now they’re starting on the 1yo.

Its like something out if a movie where babies are bred and moulded into a certain design.

Why not let kids be kids and give them support and opportunities but let them choose their own path.

AIBU to feel so sorry for kids like this?

I think I have watched too much The Americans as this screams 'spies' to me.

I didn't think my comment was racist, it was obviously written by people who are not British so they are foreign, foreign is not a racist word. Anyone can be a social climber, my comment is specific about foreign entitled rich parents in the UK because that is what the discussion about: an advert written by such group. As for my description that they are entitled, such people their wealth makes them act entitled because in other countries wealth is enough to rise in the ranks whereas in British culture and British class system you can't buy class, they think they are entitled to something long established and goes beyond money.

You sound very protective of something that you don't own yourself. 😂

The Middleton example clearly contradict you on that one. How much higher into the "British class system" could Kate go?! (genuine question!)

Alpacajigsaw · 22/10/2025 10:17

There’s not a salary on this planet that would make me want to work for these absolute weirdos. Poor kids.

Alpacajigsaw · 22/10/2025 10:18

nasalfluvaccine · 22/10/2025 08:47

What’s wrong with it?

Saying it was too late for rhe 5 year old is weird but what’s wrong with getting one on one tutoring like that?

The kid is one!

DancefloorAcrobatics · 22/10/2025 10:18

😢 poor children.

It's hard to live up to expectations of delusional parents.

Holdonforsummer · 22/10/2025 10:19

Also, the obsession with avoiding ‘cultural bias’ is sinister. Anyone who thinks they can mould a child to be exactly what they want with no influence from the outside world is crazy and dangerous whichever way you look at it.

StepAwayFromGoogling · 22/10/2025 10:19

WTAF have I just read?! Who even thinks like this?!

Alpacajigsaw · 22/10/2025 10:19

is it wild to suggest they are probably from a culture that doesn’t value women and the 5 year old is a girl, so “failing” with her doesn’t matter to them anyway?

They sound really quite vile people

Holdonforsummer · 22/10/2025 10:25

Remember Dead Poets’ Society where the boy killed himself because the dad wouldn’t let him be himself and kept pushing him to be what the dad wanted him to be? Chilling

RoseyPoe · 22/10/2025 10:25

The bit where it says it was too late for the five-year-old to achieve 'their' goals. This is gross. Trying to cultivate some weird dream. Poor child.

CarrotCrusader · 22/10/2025 10:25

I'm dying to know who the family are. They mention high net worth and royal family in the ad.

Tryingatleast · 22/10/2025 10:25

Surreal and so sad but then I suppose some people live like this. Even the ball that Gwenyth Paltrow and Chris Martin went to that introduced their daughter to society-it just all makes me uncomfortable

Ye Gods, what fresh hell is this?! Shock It sounds like the plot of a bad British comedy film. That poor child. Sad

ShrimpyMcNeat · 22/10/2025 10:29

This ad instantly made me think of Mohamed Al-Fayed (or at least the version shown in the Crown, assuming it was accurate-ish).

It screams 'foreigner that grew up poor, made it big and fetishizes British Culture because being British Upper-Class is their final tick-box to success'.

Screamingabdabz · 22/10/2025 10:31

Does asking for someone with Received Pronunciation breach the Equality Act?

Fuck me. Thanks op, for opening my eyes to a world I thought was just a parody. They say if you want to know what God thinks about money, just look at the people he gave it to.

There are a lot of similar families and similar requests in the world, but many don't even live or have a permanent residence in the UK, which is why the reference to quintessentially British experiences is not unusual.

Forget the list and requirements, anyone with the right name and connections will be considered - because that's already one foot in the door for them.

333FionaG · 22/10/2025 10:34

Poor little boy. All that pressure at the age of one!

And you sound like you are personally affronted as if this is your own advert or you are such a parent?
The Princess of Wales was middle class, her marriage upgraded her status not her family money or fancy 'quintessentially English' nanny or expensive schooling as the advert seems to hope to do (buying social class). Her class wasn't overlooked, it's even being discussed here today many years after her marriage which proves the point that class is beyond money and remains important in British and English culture. And neither I or you need to be Royals to be able to understand and comment on this.

ThisGentleRaven · 22/10/2025 10:36

What I find amusing, and surprising, is the reaction of posters.

Not talking about the tutoring and everything about the child, but why are people so offended rich families are so admiring and impressed by British Culture and British life, it's their ultimate goal? That (and only that) is flattering?😂

or is it just racism, and "British culture" is too good for anyone non-British, even if the angry people are nowhere near the Upper class themselves anyway

Pipsquiggle · 22/10/2025 10:37

They are looking for a young Rory Stewart 😂

How gutted would you be that you fit all the criteria but you had a regional accent!

The family sound like a PITA - they obviously are trying to buy into the British class system - they'd be better just buying a country estate and getting them playing polo and shooting. Also getting them signed up for a posh prep school.

I wonder what their parents actually do and why they think it's all necessary?

I do know a few landed gentry and it's all outdoors activities, having a nanny and posh schools (not necessarily the schools for the very bright like the ones listed on the job description)

You are taking everything so personally, no need to turn it around.

And speaking of Kate Middleton, let's pretend that money to push her in the right circles and the right schools and places didn't have anything to do with her "marriage", nothing at all, shall we 😂

But at least she was British, so that's all that matters, "British and English culture" remain safe, is that it?

cherryontoppp · 22/10/2025 10:44

I'm not angry I just think it's cringe-worthy and internalised racism on their own culture. They will never be fully accepted by the people they're hoping to rub shoulders with eg Al Fayed. The UK is not like other countries. I actually think they might go further by being more proud of their own cultural heritage.

ruethewhirl · 22/10/2025 10:49

Ugh, those poor kids. Doesn't sound like they'll ever get a chance to really be children, it's all about what the parents want. Just goes to show money is no assurance of decent parenting.
