To think that Sadiq Khan needs investigated?

Considering the ongoing disclosures of the extent of the Pakistani rape gangs in London and Khans refusal to even acknowledge them do we think he has bought the office of Lord Mayor into disrepute?

Yes, this thread is about Khan. Feel free to start threads about all the other people who potentially obfuscate their responsibility about child safeguarding. You’ll be a while. Best to focus on one at a time I would say.

Why haven't you started another? Am i not allowed to contribute to this one?

meagansmullet · 22/10/2025 00:51

'Needs investigated'. It's how some people speak in NI. Not saying it's right, though.

Because I am only interested in the subject of this thread. I’m focussing on this particular issue. Why would I start a new thread? You’re the one who wants to talk about other people Confused.

Have we asked how khan is dealing with those too?

Khan was asked about rape grooming gangs. That includes the white men doing it to. So yes, he was asked about them too.

Excellent! To the second part.

The first part is because i don't think it's solely khan's issue, and I'm unsure why a thread was started implicating him. There has been a hell of a lot of racist crap on here lately and I've not really seen any posts on this thread that I feel suitably justify a thread implicating solely khan.

So I will post about that as I see fit, just as many posters do. Probably all of us.

Read the OP .
It’s about the office of Mayor.

The "article" you linked to doesn't refer to any ethnicities - victims or perpetrators - at all. It quotes Maggie Oliver as saying two case studies referenced in the piece are "typical grooming gang behaviour". So, where's evidence of "the extent of Pakistani rape gangs" you mention?

I put "article" in speech marks because it is, at best, an extremely poorly written opinion piece, which proves nothing except whoever wrote it isn't very good.

I rescind this.

Just read the thread again. Quite a few posters refering specifically to race.

Thanks Suffolksun for getting me to read it again.

I always expect the best of people, but the racists gonna racist.

Because he is responsible for London. He’s the mayor. And because he has openly avoided concerns about this in questioning before. And because fresh concerns about his position on the existence of grooming gangs in London have been raised in the article.

Ablushingcrow · 22/10/2025 01:13

He's a slimy odious little man. The look on his face always looks like a dog that's just done a runny poo.

Starconundrum · 22/10/2025 01:33

Prince Andrew.
.

I mean, he's not the creme de la creme or anything. No connections. Noone turned a blind eye there. Absolutely no institutional coverup. Bet noone else was involved. And hes famously oh so close to all those lefty causes.

And his punishment speaks volumes.

But let's all blame khan.

Here you go. Knock yourself out. One thread of many in the last week or 10 years.

No one is blaming Khan. It’s reasonable to ask if the person responsible for the management of crime in London has done enough to take the issue of grooming rape gangs seriously, particularly when he has form for ignoring the issue in favour of political games.

Prince Andrew | Mumsnet

I just think everyone should know about these details, published yesterday: ‘Prince Andrew believed having sex with me was his birthright’: Virginia...

This is my point. That thread is about the perpetrator.

Why do we have a thread blaming a mayor for grooming gangs? Surely it's the grooming gangs to blame. And no one else seems to have a thread blaming them, except this one guy. Why?

NotBadConsidering · 22/10/2025 03:07

Yes, the abusers are to blame. But there have always been investigations into the institutions that facilitated the abuse, whether that be public or private organisations, the police, politicians, the BBC. And there have always been threads on Mumsnet about those investigations and/or the failure of those institutions to act. Too commonly, there are threads on the failure to learn from past investigations, allowing the perpetuation of abuse. “Lessons will be learned.” Like hell they are.

So why do you think the Mayor of the capital of the country, the largest city in the country, responsible for the largest police force in the UK, covering an area that is highly likely to and highly suspicious of containing the same type of grooming rape gangs seen in other cities, should be exempt from scrutiny about what he’s knows, when he knew it, and what’s he’s done about it? Particularly when he’s been deliberately dismissive of the issue in the past. Why is he exempt? Why?

I'm pretty sure if I did a little graphic and a wee bit of research, that for at least 98% of the time throughout British history that rape was rampant

A white bloke was in charge.

Im not seeing threads about them though, nor have I ever.

But knock yourself out with your justifications there. Lets make lots of threads blaming brown blokes instead. We all see you. We all know what you are.

Sir mark Rowley is the police commissioner in London, since 2022.

Anybody been asking him hard-hitting questions on the grooming gangs and what he's doing about it? When he's evaded those questions has anyone felt the need to attack him?

Because you know that mayors can't conduct criminal investigations right?

I mean, you do all know this?

Serpentstooth · 22/10/2025 03:27

What rubbish

In recent years we have had three Chancellors of the Exchequer, two Home Secretaries and a Prime Minister who were all, as you might put it, “brown”.

Khan gets attacked, just like the others, for his politics. I don’t recall any of the others playing the race card.

And for the record I am a Londoner and “brown”. Are you ?

Yes. You’re trying to make certain men exempt from the same scrutiny by creating a sacred caste. Men who can’t be touched. Can’t be examined. Can’t be scrutinised. You have your selection criteria for your sacred caste. Others have a different selection criteria.

No one should be exempt when it comes to scrutiny over safeguarding.

No I'm not. I'm asking why you're not holding other, more accountable, white men up to the same standards you're demanding of khan.
