To think that Sadiq Khan needs investigated?

Considering the ongoing disclosures of the extent of the Pakistani rape gangs in London and Khans refusal to even acknowledge them do we think he has bought the office of Lord Mayor into disrepute?

Isn’t the story coming from Maggie Oliver who has done so much regarding grooming gangs? Are posters now suggesting she’s dodgy and racist? Or are they just using whose reported this to ignore it?

OP - I would assume a number of mayors would need to be investigated as I doubt this has solely happened on Khan’s watch.

She’s going after a lot of people, including the met police. Many people and news outlets just seem to focus on Sadiq Khan for some mysterious reason.

Dweetfidilove · 21/10/2025 17:05

Has he bought this disrepute from the Mayoral purse? If yes, investigate him.

If not, there's nothing to investigate. Unless you think he in some way colluded with the gangs or had a hand in the cover up; instead of just not commenting publicly.

defrazzled · 21/10/2025 17:09

@Ddakji yes, and Chris Wild an advocate for children in care. Shame on the posters above who snark and make jokes about child rape.

Try getting your data from a legitimate source and using proper English grammar.

This sort of thread often goes hand in hand with bad grammar!

But we're not allowed to mention that.

I wonder who puts them up to this sort of thing Hmm

He’s in charge of the Met!

Daisymay2 · 21/10/2025 17:18

Sadiq Khan is Muslim, brown and Labour and a lot of the Right leaning media are always having goes at him!

it is fairly typical that any time there is a Labour government or highish profile politician the Mail/Express/Telegraph etc start the mud slinging . It’s boringly predictable.

I refuse to click on a Daily Express link. I'd firstly say that you might want to consider that the Daily Express are being politically motivated to attack Sadiq Khan, and even more so when the only newspapers to cover this are also from the right, so the Daily Mail, The Sun and of course GB News. From looking at a reliable site, so gov.uk and records of questions to the mayor, this seems to have been dug up from a question asked by that great genius Susan Hall from Jan of this year. How are the facts as you see them, OP? Do you check your sources also?

Thousands of children have been raped by these gangs.

It’s still happening.

The fact that people like you are trying to politicise it and shove it under a carpet is truly shameful.

AzurePanda · 21/10/2025 17:22

I think the turmoil surrounding the enquiry and the grievances of the rape victims are very worrying and are not getting enough attention. The allegations surrounding Sadiq Khan’s involvement in an alleged cover up do look as though they need further investigation.

And how horrible to sneer at a poster’s grammar and accuse them of being “thick” for raising this.

Whatifitallgoesright · 21/10/2025 17:45

So many of you fell into my inadvertent trap. Frustrated teachers banging on about grammar and 'it's all a right-wing plot' -ers.

The office of LORD mayor? How's he done that then?

ColadhSamh · 21/10/2025 18:03

Not like the 'establishment' in the UK haven't been involved in scandals for generations.
Kincora, files locked away ?
Mountbatten?
and the current scandal being exposed around Andy.

There should also be investigations within the inquiry, of councillors and police around the country who we already know to have pushed this away due to 'community tension' threats. I hope Khan will be in a queue of them. He has already shown his contempt of women by his constant deflections as can be seen by his response to a question from Susan Hall.

I'm both appalled and unsurprised that PP's are mostly about the - ugh - Daily Express, my lack of knowledge about Mayoral titles and my evident 'thickness'. This is one of the biggest scandals the UK has known and it is still going on. The systematic abuse of girls is what responses could have been about instead people are still clinging to whataboutery and denying the obvious racial element.

Absolutely. He’s corrupt and a liar and so odious. Dreadful excuse for a man.

CustardySergeant · 21/10/2025 18:26

The Lord Mayor of London is Alastair King. How the hell could Sadiq Khan have brought the office of Lord Mayor into disrepute? You make no sense.

What do you mean he won't acknowledge them? He has answered questions about them.

What did he do that was corrupt?

Westfacing · 21/10/2025 18:43

The systematic abuse of girls is what responses could have been about instead people are still clinging to whataboutery and denying the obvious racial element.

Unfortunately there has been systematic sexual abuse of children and young women in the UK long before Khan came on the political scene, and way longer than Pakistani grooming gangs. For example decades of abuse of children in the likes of Barnardo Homes; the BBC with Rolf Harris & Jimmy Savile - the list is endless.

But for some reason these examples don't bring out the likes of Tommy Robinson onto the streets, nor demands for investigations on Mumsnet.

I wonder why that is.

AzurePanda · 21/10/2025 18:49

@nomas there are multiple allegations (not just in The Express) which accuse him of being aware of the grooming gangs (via briefings, whistleblowers and direct reports) and subsequently denying their existence. Further allegations relate to his stonewalling efforts to investigate the gangs alongside the Met over whom he holds the responsibility of funding and supervision.

AzurePanda · 21/10/2025 18:53

@Westfacing there were a large number of official investigations and inquiries into Jimmy Savile although of course the BBC was complicit in a cover up. Mumsnet was unsurprisingly absolutely full of outraged threads on the matter at the time.

Lambington · 21/10/2025 18:59

Great news OP - he is not the Lord Mayor so the integrity of that office is quite safe.

The 'allegations' are by a couple of Tory and Reform MPs, including 30p Lee Anderson, in the Express and Daily Mail.

If you believe them, you'll believe anything.

Am I the only one who has noticed what it starting to seem like a targeted campaign against Sadiq Khan across various forums and social media?

Absolutely.

He is the most effective mayor we have had in living memory.

JackandSallySkellington · 21/10/2025 19:29

You’re right it’s the lack of acknowledgement.

Corbyn, Sultana and their bunch of merry men are the same (bar Adnan Hussain, who seems a decent type and has signed the motion calling for urgency and proper action in the inquiry).

Corbyn did a post about Gisele Pelicot, probably because the men involved were white European majority (and NOBODY is saying white men can’t be abusers, or that they don’t abuse far too much) - but I don’t think he has ever once commented on the mass rape and abuse of girls in his own country.

Honestly right wing men pose certain issues to feminism but do not underestimate the arrogance, dismissiveness and contempt that the left wing men have for women. In many ways it’s worse as it’s far more insidious and gaslighty and hidden under ‘bigotry’ and ‘racism’ and ‘greater good’.
