Please answer this question firstly with a number. What proportion of men - who had they been born into wealth and status - would have sex with a 17 year old attractive girl whom they’d never met before?

I don’t know the answer, but I’m upset to say that I’d put the number somewhere in the 30-40% range.

What’s the aibu?

RabbitsEatPancakes · 19/10/2025 08:59

70% I'd say and of all men- doesn't matter what they were born into.

You only have to look at gang rapes, rapes during wars etc to see most men are savages when there's no witnesses. Think of that reporter in Egypt.

5128gap · 19/10/2025 09:03

Just an age is too vague. A very attractive mature looking 17 year old? I think a high percentage would not be deterred by her age. A young looking less conventionally attractive 17 year old? I think a lower percentage would want sex with her just because of her age.
Obviously I'm speaking as a woman, but I'm drawing on my experience of being a teenager. I got much more attention from men when I presented older, and only a handful were deterred when finding out my age. When looking very young, there was attention, but less and from abject creeps and weirdos.
So if I had to call it, I'd say 'most' men don't want a woman to look exceptionally young (though some do) but 'most' would overlook exceptional youth in a young woman they found attractive.

PollyBell · 18/10/2025 23:45

How many would woman would be dazzled by the money and would sleep with the man because they thought he would spend money on them?

A 17 year old is a girl not a woman, but yes let’s start the victim blaming rather than blame the grown man who should know better and not use their power and status to coerce a vulnerable victim into having sex with them.

Bambamhoohoo · 19/10/2025 09:13

I don’t think it’s unusual for straight men to want to have a relationship (or even just sex) with a woman close to their own age.

I remember being at school and seeing 17 year olds with 25 year old boyfriends then being 25 myself and musing that the idea my male friends or boyfriends would be interested in a 17 year old was preposterous.

I don’t think it’s outrageous to remind people of that. Not all men are interested in young women.

there was a thread here once where someone accused Charles of having the same tastes as Andrew. Charles has been in the public eye all his life, dating age appropriately.
He had an effectively arranged marriage with a very young woman and maintained an affair with a women his own age throughout.

that always stuck in my mind as an example of people thinking any man would be aiming to have sex with young women, when there was clearly no evidence of such desire.

curious79 · 19/10/2025 09:14

100% of all men

or are you somehow imagining men born without wealth / status are somehow morally superior?

Bambamhoohoo · 19/10/2025 09:14

So sorry proportionally I’m going to randomly go for 50%

Maybe less egotistical and arrogant, on balance 🤨

PumpkinSparkleFairy · 19/10/2025 09:15

I don’t get it - are PPs saying that 90% of wealthy men they know in their 40s and up would try to have to sex with any 17yo girl they’re introduced to, within a couple of hours?

So they meet a friend’s 17yo DD and immediately try to shag her?? Christ.

x2boys · 19/10/2025 09:15

I doubt most men would despite, what some posters on mumsnet would have you believe
Also why would a an attractive17 year old want to have sex with a middle aged man?
Prince Andrew is known to.be very arrogant, and to believe that the general public are beneath him I doubt he cared that VG was trafficked, he probably imagined she would be delighted to have sex with him
But you can't make generalisations based on Prince Andrews actions.

Eviebeans · 19/10/2025 09:16

90% if given the opportunity and I wouldn’t rule out those without “wealth and status” either

Soontobe60 · 19/10/2025 09:16

I would say that the vast majority of men under 40 - say 90% - who are not in a relationship with anyone would be ok with sleeping with a 17 year old they met at a party. Then of those in a relationship maybe 50% if they thought they wouldn’t get caught.
I would also say that a high % of 17 year olds who are at a party with older men would consider having sex with them.
Then of those figures would be different if those men knew those girls were being paid to attend and have sex with them. (nor I’d like to think so!).

At a party? Not their DDs ‘friend’? Not knowing their age? Yes!

I think they’d definitely be thinking “I would”
which is sad and worrying

Worralorra · 18/10/2025 23:57

Sadly, I would have to say at least 70%.

If the late Queen couldn’t get it right, what hope is there for most?

Please reassure me this is meant in jest 😂

I think many of us would aspire to raise sons who treat women better than Charles and Andrew!

Octavia64 · 19/10/2025 09:19

Some married men take their marriages seriously.

i would say that married or not married does make a difference.

Viviennemary · 19/10/2025 09:19

More than you would think IMHO.

HRTQueen · 19/10/2025 09:20

NotDavidTennant · 19/10/2025 08:56

If they thought there would no consequences the vast majority of men would do it.

^ this

I don’t think being happily married with children for most men is a factor when it’s just sex with no consequences

EmeraldRoulette · 19/10/2025 09:20

The age of consent is 16 in the UK

You mean a wealthy man in the UK?

I'm going to say 95 to 100%.

MermaidMummy06 · 19/10/2025 09:21

90%, if there were a guarantee of no consequences & consent.

I wasn't even particularly good looking but at 18, once I was in clubs, pubs and even at work, it was constant, regardless age. I also remember being hit on by men in their 20's, when I was 13, sitting in a hospital ward waiting area with my friend, while her DM visited a relative a few times in the course of a month (I spent most weekends at her house). They tried to get us to meet them outside the hospital & thankfully I finally realised what they were after & refused. They thought we were a bit older, I think, but still, we were definitely children.

Same friend ram away with a much older man at 16, vulnerable as wanting to escape her mother's cult religious zealousness & got pregnant. So, yes, I believe most men would.

Now now now, are you saying that a 17 year old cannot have the agency to choose to have sex with a wealthy man? What if she knew that’s why she was at that party, that someone else was paying her for schmoozing with that man? if that’s what you’re saying, then you’re saying any 17 year old cannot having sex with anyone over 18 as that would be rape.

ELO10538 · 19/10/2025 09:21

All of those that aren't gay. No exceptions.

curious79 · 19/10/2025 09:14

You have to deduct the gay men from that figure.

That’s different though isn’t it? When it comes down to it they’re still going to have to flop the dad bod, sagging testicles and somewhat less responsive than a 17 year old man’s penis against a young woman and I don’t think it’s unusual that that (at the very least) would make a lot of men uncomfortable enough to shy away. They’re not all desperate to pump anything without a thought.

AhWeNoss · 19/10/2025 09:25

But is there not a difference between knowing whether she was actually 17, and that she was trafficked.

I imagine many many men would have sex with a young woman who throws herself at him.

I think if those men knew her actual age, rather than just that she was younger, and that she was forced to throw herself at him, the number would actually be much lower.
