https://staffordshire.public-i.tv/core/portal/webcast_interactive/980236 Take a look at the questions at the end of this full council meeting, skip to item 17 and decide whether you think this is a group of elected people who are truly representing their community.

What county council and district council's do DOES matter, these are not small ‘parishes’ like the Jackie Weaver thing. Sadly when our services start to fail and not be delivered …for the elderly, SEN, children in care, children who need to be safeguarded, libraries , waste, highways etc….. it’s all going to be too late.

Too long and too many links, which part are you referring to

She’s clearly stated what part she’s referring to. This is the whole issue with people that don’t understand politics - they want ‘ ‘highlights’ and ‘summaries’ and don’t get the full picture. If you’re going to vociferously argue for reform than at least watch what they bloody do

It’s bloody midnight and I’m going to sleep in 10 minutes, there’s a long video and 15+ links. Just say if there’s a key issue and stop being so patronising

At least they’re not as hopeless as Labour!

Oh behave.
Far, far, far worse. Obviously.

Nope, mine must have got lost in the post. Honestly though, this and the videos
from the Kent council need to be plastered over the news but they’re not.

The media won't be racing to run this story. I've said from the off that they've done all they can for a Reform government.
Really, the hate that has been rammed down our throats began at Brexit and has snowballed ever since. It's suited certain types to swallow all they've been fed.
I don't feel sorry for Kent - play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I'm in a similar situation myself as the mayor of Hull is Reform and, as expected of an ex-boxer with no experience, has been off the scale crap. He's caused so many problems. However, I'm getting to the stage where I feel like let's just let Farage in! Hopefully things will get better after we've hit rock bottom.

Fast forward to 1:31 and item 17 of the meeting. The link I posted takes you to County Council Thursday, 22nd May 2025 at 10:00am meeting recording.

TooBigForMyBoots · 19/10/2025 00:18

It's Reform UK. A shambolic mess owned and led by workshy grifter, Nigel Farage. The ridiculous show in Kent is what Reform UK is. Bullshit, ignorance, arrogance and laziness.

They can't run a council. They can't run their own party. I wouldn't trust them to run a bath.🫣

‘Don’t understand politics’? Bit of a broad assumption - what are you basing that on? The fact that she didn’t fancy doing all the recommended reading on a mumsnet thread at midnight? Or just the fact that she has different political opinions to you?

Fluffyhoglets · 19/10/2025 00:21

Nescafeneeded · 18/10/2025 23:56

What they should ‘do’ is balance the books.

They cant just not do the things the law requires them to do - or they get taken to court and made to do it at even greater expense!

I have a friend who works in a Reform led council.

They came in with a Bullish attitude.

Realised quite quickly that a lot of the things they said they were going to change were Central, not local, Government responsibilities.

Found out that all the savings they were going to make be sacking Diversity officers etc, didn’t exist.

Are now in a Budgetary cycle, with a legal responsibility to present a balanced budget, and are having to cut services they said they would cut, and charge for things they said they wouldn’t charge for.

They were ill-prepared.

The fact that she wanted someone to ‘tell her’ what the issue was rather than understand it and analyse it herself. The kind of idiocy Reform rely on - just take what we tell you, don’t waste your time actually understanding

Dogaredabomb · 19/10/2025 00:36

I can't help but think Reform is some weird trojan horse strategy of the Tories (bear with me here and Don your tinfoil hats).

So Big Money invented Reform to get voted in and seriously fuck everything up. Dismantle the nhs and what's left of the welfare state.

When the country is defunct the Tories come back and rescue us. Yet never again do we have 'free' healthcare or disability benefits.... or anything.

I feel like we're in early 1930s Germany just watching how an extremist party gains traction.

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 19/10/2025 00:36

@Salemsplot , you enjoy your laugh. You can support your party’s gerrymandering with the local elections but you know, your party knows that the time of reckoning approaches. Enjoy it while it briefly lasts.

What laws are changing and how will that help the poor councils at the mercy of Reform UK?

suburberphobe · 19/10/2025 00:51

Strangely the Daily Mail hasn’t picked up this story….

Not strange at all. I read they were pro-Nazi too back in the day....

You'll have to do your own research. I read it many years ago.

Personally, I think it's scary how many people are thinking The Big Fuck is going to save Britain.

He did fuck all in the Euro Parliament, collected his money from us tax payers. And was hardly ever there. Except got the Brit fools to vote for Brexshit.

One of the lads down in the pub. Tells you all you need to know.

Women of Mumsnet, do Not vote for this grifter!

He's cosying up to the anti-abortionists in USA too. 😳

Councils should not have "statutory duties" it should be up to local taxpayers as to which services they provide and to whom.
