Things are dire at the moment and people want change. It’s easy to make snide remarks about Reform but they are likely to win the next election so you better get ready.

I appreciate that people want change but voting Reform is like trying to cure stomach ache by punching yourself in the face. Your stomach will still hurt but now you have a black eye and your nose is bleeding too! Hmm

They're the Dad's Army of political parties. They would be laughable but no one on the ground was laughing after Liz Truss, just whatever venture capitalists swooped in to clean up. People have no real idea how bad things can get without a semi-competent government. However bad things seem now or over the last 15 years, they really can get worse.

That's totally unfair on the Home Guard - the majority were true patriots doing what they could for their fellow citizens in the face of the most evil empire in history. The comedy came from the interaction of good intentions, situations, and upended expectations.

Reform have fuck all interest in the UK, the British way of life and especially in looking after everyone who is left behind. They are almost an anti-home guard.

I laugh at them because in their desperation to play Billy Big Bollocks, all they are doing is grazing their 'nads on the cold asphalt of a world where you have to pitch your grift like everyone else.

You realise you typed that into a forum where the UK left the EU because people "wanted change". ?

SquirrelosaurusSoShiny · 20/10/2025 15:39

Indeed.

And what does that mean - we’d better get ready for it - how?

@1457bloom if people think they are suddenly going to be radically better off under Farage think they are going to be incredibly disappointed - in fact I think a lot of those voting for these changes might not be the priorities they think they are - just making noises about immigrants being the source of all ills isn’t going to cut the mustard when it’s still just as shit on their patch

1457bloom · 20/10/2025 16:41

I am not a Reform voter but you cannot ignore the utter despair with this country which neither of the main parties seem able to change. People are prepared to vote for something new and radical because they see the current system as broken. What they seem to want is a strong, charismatic leader who is not going to base their decisions upon opinion polls or do u turns because they don’t want to upset the backbenchers.

You say you are not a Reform voter but you seem to understand and sympathise with how they think, instead of calling out bs about backbenchers, when we could literally lose our NHS.

Spokebefore · 20/10/2025 17:09

Tiresome!!! I really do despair.

SerendipityJane · 20/10/2025 17:15

To be fair, these will include some people who thought they'd be better of out of the EU. So critical thinking isn't necessarily overflowing with them.

SinnerBoy · 20/10/2025 17:48

The die hards don't care, anyway. Look at the comments on the Mail stories on this.

*Fake news
*So what? Liebore are worse.
*Communist propaganda
*It's 2 tier Kier's fault

Absolutely no understanding of what has actually been going on.

Oh indeed - to be frank most of them don’t care, just as long as it’s bloke who waves the flag as much as they do and likes blaming foreigners for all our ills , then they are fine with that - and it’s all ends of the spectrum, those who find the Sun a challenging read and those who believe every word the mail , express and telegraph print

But in seriousness, imagine these kind of people running your council, let alone your country…

It's a threat.

Reform supporters were all over our local Facebook group today saying women had better get ready for men having an equal say over abortion and divorce rights.

They are white male supremacists. They want their power back.

To be fair Kent voters welcomed the massive .lorry parks needed for Brexit. In fact they donated some of their own land - village greens and cricket clubs to make sure it happened.

No. That was to keep the county moving. Any issues ar the ports block anywhere east of Maidstone. Operation Brock, supposedly temporary brought in to deal more congestion, impacts speeds on the motorway. Kent has all the disadvantages from Brexit. And no I am not a reform voter.

Kent thought there were not disavantages to Brexit for them. Which is why they voted for it. Same as every single leaver voter. It was "Well I'll be OK, so fuck you".

We had Brexit, It's done. It's dusted. If you aren't happy with it, then why did you vote for it ? (Not addressed to any individual poster).

Newsflash not everyone in kent voted leave, just like very many didn't vote for reform.

That's probably as useful as saying that not all Germans supported Hitler as the RAF was dropping bombs.

Or indeed not all Britons supported the wars in Iraw and Afghanistan.

Unfortunately the price of a democracy is having to suck up the will of the people.

Unless you are suggesting it's OK for someone who didn't vote Labour to ignore any laws this government makes ?

Of 970,000 people in the county who voted 59% voted to leave and 41% to remain.

£30 billion saved, planet damaged even more. Typical knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing.
