Tangled is the best Disney film! AIBU?

As the mum to an almost 6 year old DD, I have watched a lot of Disney films. Was delighted today when she asked for Tangled. The music and lyrics are fun and clever, the plot is engaging and I find Maximus the horse really funny. Plus the animation is beautiful! It seems to me that it stands out from lots of others- does anyone else agree?

And I think Rapunzel is a great heroine. So much more sassy and feisty than most Disney princesses.

YABU. Princess and the Frog is the best. It has the best songs and a heroine that has worked for a living, and it's funny and really scary in parts!

That and Princess & The Frog! Love them!

Yeah, Enchanted is good, but I meant the animated ones. DD is still a bit young to get all the humour in Enchanted.

I watched that my my dd for the first time yesterday and loved it! Sometimes when I’m watching a film with her, I start daydreaming but I really wanted to find out what was going to happen next. Much better than Tinkerbell which is her favourite…

With a different ending (I don’t like that the family get their superhero powers back) Encanto would be the perfect film.

As it is I think Moana is the nearest Disney film to perfection. (Haven’t watched the sequel and not planning to.)

I also like Moana and Brave for other strong female leads.

Moana 2 is good but not as great as the original.

My DC are 28 and 30 , so I’m a bit out of touch 😂

She’s not sassier and feistier than most Disney princesses unless you skip the entire Disney Renaissance period. I do like Rapunzel, though. I don’t think “Tangled” is a the best Disney movie ever, but it’s a good candidate for “best Disney movie of the last twenty years.”

You are absolutely correct OP. I was delighted when my DD2 was obsessed with Tangled when she was 3. She's almost 15 and now says that her favourite Disney Princess is Tiana and Princess and the Frog is her favourite! 😲

Tangled is probably my favourite too. Encanto has got better songs (and I'm still amazed that Mirabel is voiced by Rosa in Brooklyn 99) but the story just isn't as good. Moana is probably a close second to Tangled.

Yeah that's true, but you could say that about all the Princesses.

How did Cinderella not end up having a mental breakdown, being forced to be a slave to her horrible stepmother and stepsisters. I think I would have thrown myself out the window.

Snow White's dad died and then her evil stepmother took over.

They're just all supposed to be sweetness and light and so unbelievably kind that nothing touches it.

As an aside, how BORING are the old Disney films? I was obsessed with Snow White as a child and bought the DVD for my girls when they were little having not seen it for years. I couldn't sit through it. What a snooze fest!

I love Tangled but The Lion King is wonderful. I could watch it every week.

The Emperors New Groove is the absolute best. Nothing comes close to it.
