As the mum to an almost 6 year old DD, I have watched a lot of Disney films. Was delighted today when she asked for Tangled. The music and lyrics are fun and clever, the plot is engaging and I find Maximus the horse really funny. Plus the animation is beautiful! It seems to me that it stands out from lots of others- does anyone else agree?

Dd 22 and I watched this a few weeks ago. We haven’t watched it since it came out. Loved it and Dd said it was the best!

InOverMyHead84 · 18/10/2025 19:39

YANBU. It's the absolute best!

Kpo58 · 18/10/2025 19:39

I really like Brother Bear.

I can't stand Wish though. Bland, forgettable and over diverse ethnicity for it's setting. Whatever the name of the protagonist was (I told you it was forgettable) didn't appear to be allowed to have more than 1 friend of the same race in her friendship group which just felt weird and forced.

I love Maximus, he snorts so beautifully and he doesn't know the meaning of giving up - the perfect hench-horse for their future lives.

Newsenmum · 18/10/2025 19:45

Encanto has the best songs by far! But I do like Tangled.

angelinamerry · 18/10/2025 19:45

It’s my DD and DH’s favourite Disney film. I prefer the Pixar films but if I had to pick a traditional Disney princess film, I’d pick Aladdin or Beauty and the Beast. I also prefer Mulan and Pocahontas to Tangled.

I love Tangled but The Lion King is wonderful. I could watch it every week.

It’s funny I loved the Lion King as a kid but less so as an adult. I think I find it too serious. The little mermaid and 101 dalmations I quite enjoy now as a relaxing watch.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/10/2025 19:48

DD(14) would say “Brave”.

TyroleanKnockabout · 18/10/2025 19:49

My favourites growing up were Mulan (definitely a feisty heroine!) and The Lion King.

DD(14) would say “Brave”.

Brave is good but whenever I watch it I always end up getting distracted by the animation of Merida's hair.

Hatty65 · 18/10/2025 20:39

I love Tangled - and frequently sing 'Mother Knows Best' at my (adult) children.

I also love Robin Hood, Sword in the Stone and 101 Dalmations though. They were the ones I loved best as a child myself.

MrsKateColumbo · 18/10/2025 20:49

I love tangled! And yes "mother knows best" is sang at my kids haha

I think little mermaid might be the most perfect Disney film though

StripyHorse · 18/10/2025 20:51

I might be biased because it has always been DD1s favourite. Now at 18, she still loves it.

That said, I agree with a PP that Brave is great too.

afianceeatlast · 18/10/2025 20:55

I absolutely agree!

HornyHornersPinger · 18/10/2025 21:04

Yes you ABVU! Because 'Up!' is the best Disney film ever...

MustBeThursday · 18/10/2025 21:16

Ahh Tangled was the first Disney princess film DD2 was into. My favourite song is the “I have a dream” one!

EdnaMole · 18/10/2025 21:28

Love Tangled. Happy memories of DD (now 17) doing a gorgeous ballet to At Last I’ve Seen The Light -with lanterns - age 8.(sniffs)
Don’t know if you’re a fan of The Gilded Age but Mother Gothel from Tangled is in fact Mrs Astor…

InveterateWineDrinker · 18/10/2025 21:33

No, you're all wrong. Zootopia wins.

Also Elemental, although that's Pixar rather than full-fat Disney.

Dweetfidilove · 18/10/2025 21:36

My 16 year old daughter agrees with you.
It's continues to be her favourite.

Homer28 · 18/10/2025 21:37

My favourite too! And definitely fancy Flynn Rider 😅

YABU. Princess and the Frog is the best. It has the best songs and a heroine that has worked for a living, and it's funny and really scary in parts!

Definitely. So underrated.

Screamingabdabz · 18/10/2025 21:41

The music is fun and clever, and on the surface it seems sweet, but it is essentially a story about a child who has been abducted and her childhood stolen. My DDs love it but I can’t watch it.

noblegiraffe · 18/10/2025 21:43

The Emperor's New Groove is the best Disney film by a mile, but for watching with a daughter, Tangled is great. Far superior to much more hyped Frozen.

Flatandhappy · 18/10/2025 21:45

I think Tangled would be my second favourite, love it but Beauty and the Beast is definitely my number one. There was an amazing musical production in Sydney last year too, I saw it three times.

Yep on all counts
