As the mum to an almost 6 year old DD, I have watched a lot of Disney films. Was delighted today when she asked for Tangled. The music and lyrics are fun and clever, the plot is engaging and I find Maximus the horse really funny. Plus the animation is beautiful! It seems to me that it stands out from lots of others- does anyone else agree?

Jungle Book, Robin Hood (major crush on Robin) and The Arisrocats.

Think I'm showing my age!

With a different ending (I don’t like that the family get their superhero powers back) Encanto would be the perfect film.

As it is I think Moana is the nearest Disney film to perfection. (Haven’t watched the sequel and not planning to.)

Oooh I have to agree with this I think! I love Moana! I have seen the sequel several times and can say it's probably on a par with the first one! I took the kids on my birthday last year to see it but secretly it was my own birthday present to me 😂 Are you worried it will ruin it if you watch it and it's not as good?

Another vote for The Emperor's New Groove here! It's the funniest by miles. Kronk and Yzma!

But Tangled is the best Princess film imo (Brave is second). The only classic I can make it through is Alice in Wonderland...

Yes Moana is by far the best.

Although l quite like Maleficent.

Moana is the best by a country mile - full of heart, doesn't end with a wedding, and excellent songs. I love Coco too, and from my own childhood Robin Hood, ahem....

ELMhouse · 18/10/2025 21:52

Nope Mulan and Moana are the best for the best songs and sassy awesome women and hilarious sidekicks!

I love Tangled but The Lion King is wonderful. I could watch it every week.

Agreed on the Lion King. Best songs ever. But I can’t watch the but when the Dad dies. I have to fast forward through it.

Surely Lady & the Tramp is the best Disney film?

SkaterGrrrrl · 18/10/2025 22:22

Love this movie! Cry at the end when they pull Eugene into the family hug.

Might rewatch it, even though DD is now 15.

Fun fact, Rapunzel is voiced by actress Mandy Moore of 'This Is Us' fame.

My issue with Moana is that it's really a redemption story about Maui. Moana is just there to give him the motivation to change. And Maui is really, REALLY irritating.

To a certain extent you could say the same for Tangled but I think Rapunzel has way more character development through her story than Moana does.

Plus as funny as Heihei is, Maximus is better. I'll fight you.

It is clearly Alice in Wonderland or Robin Hood with the hot fox.🦊

Mulan is the best ‘princess’ movie - although she’s not really a princess is she… but it was my fav as a kid and even as an adult now I could watch it over and over. It’s hilarious!

The lion king also is probably the best Disney film ever! Coco is also fantastic for one of the newer ones and my DD6 is obsessed with Tiana and Princess and the frog (but we did just stay in Florida in the New Orleans themed hotel so think that might be why!).

There is a theory that for every generation, Disney comes out with a film that inspires a whole new batch of furries. For GenX it was Robin Hood. For the Millenials it was The Lion King. For GenZ it was Zootopia.

DD (also almost 6) is obsessed. She also loves the sequel film/TV show on Disney + (Before Ever After) which they put a ridiculous amount of effort into in terms of songs! It's all great.

Fionaville · 19/10/2025 01:55

It's definitely up there with the best! Love the music and Flynn Rider! It's neck and neck with the Toy Story films. I miss the Disney days now my kids are teens. Enjoy them!

Disney is awesome i grew up watching Disney with my brothers. I love Mickey and Minnie mouse and the dogs. I also watched bugs bunny and his crew. My mother loved cartoons as a middle aged woman.
