And there's no convincing me otherwise.

Roofers!

Rumpledandcrumpled · 17/10/2025 15:59

And the fact the op said wc men are the most attractive then used a middle class man as an example shows she means a perception she has of the tattooed fit a little bit rough male that Tom often plays. But that’s as far from real life as it gets.

sunandfizz · 17/10/2025 16:00

If they are the type to be shouting at women from building sites or "get yer tits out" from white vans, that's not exactly attractive is it OP. I think this may be a case of be careful what you wish for because you might get it.

Nothing less appealing than "Cheer up luv, might never happen". Or other hilarious quips they feel the need offer up to the world.

It's about the individual, nothing to do with class. Just avoid morons basically.

ChesterDrawz · 17/10/2025 16:03

I'd probably agree, somewhat.

And it's the opposite with women.

SouthernFashionista · 17/10/2025 16:03

Gosh no. Give me my public school educated City husband any day of the week.

Ihateboris · 17/10/2025 16:03

I must admit I do find men who do physical jobs a lot more attractive. A farrier looks so damn sexy shoeing a horse ..😄

Ihateboris · 17/10/2025 16:08

What about this handsome chap...

DramaAlpaca · 17/10/2025 16:10

I have to admit I like the sight of a hunky man in tradie pants (or whatever they're called) but when it comes down to it what I'm actually attracted to is the nerdy intellectual type, whatever social class he's from.

Now if the nerdy intellectual happened to be hunky and wearing tradie pants, all the better Grin

In fairness, Jacob R-M would be unattractive if he did look like Tom Hardy et al because he is, indeed, a twat.

No it doesn’t and it’s just crashing snobbery to stereotype anyone who has a manual job and a regional accent as thick and below them.

I value emotional intelligence a million miles above academic qualifications and some of the smartest most engaging men I’ve met are tradesmen

Yep, and the funniest. Which is massively important.

teacupzs · 17/10/2025 16:16

@Illegally18 but the men I find physically attractive in real life & celeb world all come from fairly different backgrounds. Granted I can't think of any aristocratic types I like.

SomeConstellation · 17/10/2025 16:17

Thepeopleversuswork · 17/10/2025 14:00

I am pretty agnostic on this and I try really hard never to judge anyone on their background but will say that very posh men have never done it for me. I don’t fancy very cut glass accented men and men who dress in that upper class dress code.

Theres a sense of entitlement, wetness and softness about them which is deeply unsexy.

It’s the UC thuggishness that turns me off. (My Oxford college had a few actual Bullingdon members and not a few others who’d have been in it like a shot if allowed/had the necessary money to spaff on tailcoats, writing cheques in advance to restaurants you’re going to trash, and burning fifties in front of tramps. Then again, I’ve met Millwall thugs who’d probably be up for it too, without the costume and cut-glass consonants.)

teacupzs · 17/10/2025 16:19

Although a rugby plyer body also helps !

Again there's nuance, for the rare ones that look like the below there are many that look like they have wondered out of a pub in middle earth or moonlight as an orc.

Fluffypotatoe123987 · 17/10/2025 16:21

Tbh i like manual workers and thats because then they can fix things in the house. However my last relationship that was a labourer we didnt have anything in common aside from sex lol. He didnt understand me. Couldnt have educated discussions. And if i mentioned anything from mumsnet for a discussion all i ever got was i dno or i dont compare to people.

So physically yes I do fancy.

Currently dating someone who works in tech physically strong looking body but i like the intelligence side and have more of a bond.

The issue is, you really only see that on the telly. In real life they are never hunky, generally just some knackered bloke who looks like he’s a bad diet and a dad bod, and who is a bit grubby and not in a good way.

they are often fit on home makeover shows.but that’s about it; visit any building site, get your kitchen bathroom electrics, extensions, windows, patio done and seldom is some fit hunky bloke walking down your path. It’s usually more Alan Carr.

Dacatspjs · 17/10/2025 16:25

Mills and Boon have made millions off of the aristocratic fantasy. Can't agree.

Tryingatleast · 17/10/2025 16:31

So many stereotypes on one thread!!!!!!

Yes, or the stable boy (do they have those now?). Maybe I have been reading too many bodice rippers!

I actually don’t like super intellectual men I find it a bit of an ick which sounds bonkers written down I think because the majority I’ve met over the years seem to love the sound of their own voice and think they are never wrong.

I much prefer working class I’d say overall but then I don’t mix in circles with upper class or even London style middle class.
RP accents I don’t dislike but don’t particularly find attractive I suppose. Give me a northern accent any day.
Seeing as this is an anonymous forum!

DramaAlpaca · 17/10/2025 16:43

@teacupzs ooh, the gorgeous Dan Carter... be still my beating heart!

@Rumpledandcrumpled you made me proper lol at It’s usually more Alan Carr

I agree and I loathe thuggishness from any demographic: I'd no more want to cuddle up to a Millwall thug than a Bullingdon one.

And I know it's my hangup and probably unfair. Intellectually I can rationalise that a posh man can't help being posh, there are some very nice and thoughtful posh men etc. And also that there are probably a lot of advantages of being with a posh man.

But at some really visceral, gut level I find them deeply unsexy.

JHound · 17/10/2025 17:11

Sigh.
