And there's no convincing me otherwise.

I'm talking about the rugged types on building sites etc. Intelligence and class are entirely separate.

But being a 'rugged type on a building site' doesn't equate to 'working class'.

If you mean 'men who do physical jobs' then say so. Plenty of working class men aren't manual labourers and certainly aren't 'rugged'.

MsWilmottsGhost · 17/10/2025 14:47

Where were all these handsome tradies when I was getting my house renovated then? The ones I got were balding middle aged men with pot bellies. Lovely blokes and impressive skills, but visually attractive? Sadly, no.

MyCrushWithEyeliner · 17/10/2025 14:44

OP, are you saying you wouldn’t want a piece of this?

Vom. Hard to believe he has fathered about six children.

IAmThePrettiestManOnMyIsland · 17/10/2025 13:06

What? 😂

I think we’ve got a few different interpretations of what the op means by ‘working class man’ here.
I had a vision of thin, slightly malnourished from childhood man with bad genetics eg thin lips eyes too close together, small head = small brain and not very bright. I realise this sounds absolutely terrible as I’m writing this and I’m probably very wrong 🤣 I apologise in advance.

surreygirly · 17/10/2025 12:32

Agreed
Although a rugby plyer body also helps !

.

teacupzs · 17/10/2025 14:59

The shirt offsets it though. And the right watch

Not for me, if the arms are crap then it just doesn't work.

teacupzs · 17/10/2025 15:00

@Uricon2 doesn't do it for me physically but his character is attractive in the show

anotherside · 17/10/2025 15:00

Well most can’t even decide on how to define working class. Are you sexually attracted to men on lower incomes or men whose parents were on lower incomes?

teacupzs · 17/10/2025 15:01

A tidy tradie is a sight for sore eyes when you need a carpenter, sparks or a plumber. The ancient plasterer's mate who was so arthritic he regularly had to be helped up off the ground -- rather less appealing. I worried about him.

😂😂😂

They are more masculine. But in an ideal world I'd like a combo of masculine with highly intellectual. And that is an imaginary combo. So I'll just stay single, thanks.

I mean, that's not an imaginary combo. Keep the faith.

Bloozie · 17/10/2025 15:11

Working class men - too vague.

Men that work with their hands - I AM WITH YOU. I am the daughter of a builder, I grew up with a house full of labourers, and before health & safety went mad*, they were invariably topless.

It's formative.

I find strong men that can fix things very attractive.

*Only kidding. Wear sunscreen folks.

hellowhaaat3632 · 17/10/2025 15:14

Loool this thread is now actually about women fantasising about sexy, rugged men with big, strong hands.... yummy

User3365237 · 17/10/2025 12:39

Tom Hardy (and dare I day it, Danny Dyer).

Tom Hardy went to fee paying independent schools and is not working class in the way Danny Dyer is

Illegally18 · 17/10/2025 15:20

teacupzs · 17/10/2025 12:57

How does class influence one's face?

Actually, quite a lot. Though there are many exceptions.

KStockHERO · 17/10/2025 15:21

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 17/10/2025 12:30

You're not wrong.

Middle to upper class men (to me) look like sappy wet lettuces who couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag.

Absolutely this, with bells on.

Uricon2 · 17/10/2025 14:33

My current crush is Akram Salim from Dept Q. He wears an anorak, a buttoned up cardigan with shirt and tie and on occasion a cap with earflaps. He is, as far as one can tell, not terribly muscular under this outfit.

This however is not all there is to Akram, by any means. Anyone who's seen Dept Q will understand 😂.

Yes, I understand! His appearance is deceptive. You would feel totally safe with him in a dodgy situation.

KimberleyClark · 17/10/2025 15:27

I do like an intellectual, articulate man with a regional accent. With slight preference for Northern but Welsh also good.

Hands and arms are my thing

CoffeeCantata · 17/10/2025 12:25

No. I agree blanket statements don't work.

Depends how you're judging it. Physical appearance? About even, I should think.

I like intellectual, well-educated men. Doesn't mean they can't be working class. My husband is from a wc background and an academic. But I would want someone who could share my interests and understand what I'm on about.

Yes.

My late husband started out as working class and finished up as a teacher. He had the best male chest I've ever seen, whatever class he was. [/shallow]

He was also my best friend and the love of my life.

MagnaICe · 17/10/2025 15:37

Depends. I work with men predominantly. In a manual role. Not many are actually tall, muscular or perfectly built. Most are short, balk, fat or if tall, very skinny....

My one is a public school boy and is nothing short of Apollo

Strawberrycreamcalzone · 17/10/2025 15:40

KStockHERO · 17/10/2025 15:21

I also agree

Uricon2 · 17/10/2025 15:56

One of the best looking men I ever dated was 6'2, wore a suit, degree when it was less usual than today, "middle class" job, quite a stereotypically "aristocratic" look (in a good way) He was also rightly proud of his descent from generations of miners and had a DH Lawrence accent that would have made Lady Chatterley's Mellors sound like a 1930s BBC announcer.

My late DH was an East End boy who was naturally muscular (without effort) but loved literature and worked very hard to get the education worthy of him. Now DH very middle class background and job, boarding school, every advantage from birth but certainly had the muscly, sporty look in his youth (prop forward)

What all these men had in common was/is being intelligent, kind and funny and those attributes have nothing to do with social class.

Rumpledandcrumpled · 17/10/2025 15:57

We’ve completely renovated our house, inside and hard standing outside. And I can categorically say, all those builders, tradesman etc dozens of tnem. not one of them looked like Tom bloody hardy, and I can also say, I didn’t find one of them physically attractive. Because quite frankly they were not fit attracrtive specimens of men. We had hairy, flabby, baldy, chubby, the lot. Sometimes all together. 😂

I also don’t see women loitering round building sites drooling either. Most scuttle past hoping no one wolf whistles.

But then I don’t fancy the bank manager or school teachers either. When a man is attracrtive its to do with many things, appearance, grooming, intellect, kindness, empathy, masculinity, physique, and absolutely nothing to do with what work he does or his perceived class.

I’ve never had workmen doing anything in my house that I have found remotely attractive.

I think some people have read too many bodice rippers 😁

Having said that, most of my dating history has been WC but they all ended up as shit as the MC ones.
