And there's no convincing me otherwise.

AIBU?

I'm interested in what other people think. This is a discussion forum is it not?

And there's no convincing me otherwise.

Evidently not

Louis Theroux? He's about as sexy as a slap in the face with a demented haddock.

I've reported this for hate speech. Louis is beautiful.

verybighouseinthecountry · 18/10/2025 06:03

My local folk museum has men who are carpenters, basket weavers and Farriers. They might be baking in the sun all day but are definitely not the demograph OP is fancying.

You're not wrong.

Middle to upper class men (to me) look like sappy wet lettuces who couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag.

Surely most rugby players are middle (or upper middle) class? Do they look like sappy wet lettuces who couldn’t fight their way out of a paper bag?

Most of these gorgeous, hunky, sexy WC labouring type men working on your kitchen or extension only exist in Mills & Boon (or porn).

I thought most MNers were married to solicitors 😁

I’ve dated a carpenter, a window cleaner, a postman, an engineer, a company director over the years and they all turned out to be untrustworthy, selfish, and incapable of mature communication in a relationship.

Usually posh men/posh accents give me the ick massively but I love Louis

With pale lily white arms sticking out with soft hands 🤣

Nah tanned from all the holidays we can afford. 😂😂

I’ve never thought of him as posh and I don’t think he has a posh accent.

I suppose it depends on who you are comparing him to.

He’s not at all ‘posh’. Standard-issue MC, I’d have said.

I didn’t think I’d ever had a preference until i worked in a prep (independent) school. The silver spoon ex-boarder male colleagues were bizarre! Skinny (think ankles the size of a wrist), brightly coloured trousers with “jazzy socks”. They were also overly dramatic and highly misogynistic.

Tom Hardy (and dare I day it, Danny Dyer).

Totally understand where you are coming from. TH yep yep yep. DD not so much for me. I think you're leaning towards buff/hunk/a touch rough but hopefully gentle!!! (Too far?!) I lean towards troubled and hot! (Or do i mean trouble, without the d?!) For example my favourite council estate boy is Noel G... Oh. My. God. School of hard knocks boys. Understand life. Oh yes. Fun thread.

JJMama · 18/10/2025 18:40

OP are you looking for a downtown man??

User3365237 · 18/10/2025 18:48

Yes, tough on the outside, soft inside @JJWT.

I'm not actually in the market, so to speak @JJMama.

OP, are you saying you wouldn’t want a piece of this?

There was a thread not long ago where some posters admitted to having the hots for Rees-Mogg! 😄

You didn't ask it as a question. You posted it as a statement.

Westfacing · 18/10/2025 19:59

For those who like a Tradie I think a Pimlico Plumber is the way to go. not Charlie Mullins obviously

I saw one yesterday, trousers with all the pockets etc., sorting out his tools at the back of the van. He was a very fit 40-something, and being a PP no doubt had a few bob!

That's how I read it. That's why I said YABU to @User3365237 'Working class men are the most attractive' is an opinion, not a fact.

User3365237 · 18/10/2025 20:46

Well, only if we're being ridiculously pedantic about it @Zov.

Wimin123 · 18/10/2025 21:50

Much prefer the more rugged, practical types. The wimpy drips at the office did nothing for me - they looked down on the ‘tradies’ who were working there from time to time but us women were lusting after them 😉

I get where you're coming from OP. Do people remember the diet coke advert? They knew it-

I’ve never really considered class as a factor in dating but I am drawn to bookish intellectual types over physical manual labour types so I guess a strong muscles plumber or builder wouldn’t do it for me while a gawky librarian or a scientist does.
