Neighbour parking issues..again

Had ongoing issues with neighbours inconsiderate parking. Just as that seems to have resolved, we now have ANOTHER knob head parker. This guy doesn't live on our estate but has started parking his huge van and trailer on the road into our street. He also has 2 cars and a jeep which he said he parks in our neighbourhood as its safer than where he lives several streets away. I totally get this but he is taking up all the parking spaces in our little area and it's causing real issues. Now he said he is going to start parking his other huge industrial vehicle with a trailer on the road at the side of our house for at least 6 months. It's a monstrosity and it'll be there all over Christmas and new year when we have friends and family visiting. I am devastated, we worked hard to move into our little estate and now it looks like a shit hole. I know he isn't doing anything illegal but im still gutted...myself and another neighbour estimated that he is taking up 11 parking spaces. Am I just being a dick to be upset by this?

Yes at least 6 months. The owner of the plot of land he normally stores it on has kicked him off because of damage the vehicle caused

Park there yourself so he can’t.

NewYorkSummer · 17/10/2025 10:19

Are all these vehicles taxed?! I’d be double checking….

I'm in and out all day and I don't know when he's going to bring it to our area. I know him a little bit and know he'll wait until we're not in to park it

Park there now. Speak to a couple of neighbours and tag team so when one of you moves someone else parks there. Id start doing that on as many spaces as possible for a few weeks.

Thanks we did talk about this but we all go out to work roughly the same time unfortunately so it's difficult for someone's cars to be there all the time x

If he is leaving it there that long without moving it at all perhaps reporting it as abandoned may help?

PragmaticIsh · 17/10/2025 10:28

Some councils have rules about a business parking vehicles in a residential area. Might be worth checking.

Rollercoaster1920 · 17/10/2025 10:29

Your area is 'safer' he says? Hmmm........ Areas can change.

Whereismyfleeceblanket · 17/10/2025 10:31

Is it his own business? If not start reporting the work vehicles to his boss..

Smilesinthesunshine · 17/10/2025 10:33

Go out and buy a large bag of cement. In the middle of the night go and make a large cement mound in the middle of the area in which he wishes to park. Make it so that you can still park a car either side of the mound!

Allegedly!! He probably doesn't want all his ugly work vehicles cluttering up HIS street!!

Do you know anyone who has a spare vehicle they can park there for a while, or do your neighbours?

This - many commercial vehicles are restricted and can't be parked in residential areas - if you are talking about something taking up 11 spaces, then it may well come under such regulations - talk to your council - there will be a department who deal with this.

BettysRoasties · 17/10/2025 10:39

That sucks. I get it’s legal but it shouldn’t be to clutter up streets with work vehicles.

Id totally ban lorry’s/vans/taxis/pick ups and minibuses from being allowed permanently parked on residential streets. Driveways/ car parks and actual business’s premises only.

We had tow trucks, ice cream vans, mini busses, dozens of taxis and vans all constantly parked down the street and the they all have their personal cars feel like I live in a carpark some times and we all have drives but they have too many vehicles.

sorry for my rambling moan.

Hire a skip and get it places right in the middle of where he would park the lorry. 😅

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 17/10/2025 10:39

Reach out to your local councillor, I found this:

You cannot directly ask the council to change a street to resident parking, but you can start the process by contacting your local council and speaking with a councillor, especially if you can get neighbors to support the request. The council has a formal process for this, which usually involves a petition or a formal request, and the council will likely need to perform a consultation and consider factors like parking demand and the impact on the surrounding area before making any changes

Sorry misunderstanding..its all of his vehicles taking up 11 spaces ...he also parks them spaced out so nobody has any space so it's probably more spaces than 11 to be honest x

this is exactly the kind of issue your local councillor should be able to deal with. look them up and get them on the case.

JurassicPark4Eva · 17/10/2025 11:07

Speak to the council.

And the local paper. Name and shame the business via the paper.

Suggest they cover the scourge of businesses parking in residential areas to avoid responsibilities for their vehicle fleet.

Studyunder · 17/10/2025 11:15

I’d be shocked at how every single one of these these vehicles managed to get a flat tire overnight 🤷🏼‍♀️ (a ballpoint pen does the trick)
