I can't even think of a reason why this card should exist. And I was amazed to see it being sold in Sainsbury's of all places.

I don t think its meant in the wayne rooney sense

I feel like no good will come from me googling that
Right?

Fionasapples · 16/10/2025 17:56

PersephoneSmith · 16/10/2025 14:53

where did you get that from?

My aunt and cousin buy birthday and Christmas cards for their dogs. The birthday cards are always age ones too. I think they're probably mad, but each to their own.

QueenClinomania · 16/10/2025 17:43

I would buy dozens of those!

It would be quite the improvement. My handwriting is shit.

Unless the message inside says "Because she's a Slag" then YABVVU

Oh behave! 😆 🤣 😂

JudgeJ · 16/10/2025 18:15

HelpMeGetThrough · 16/10/2025 16:02

Surely if the card was in Waitrose it would be “Whatever happens at Grandmothers, stays at Grandmothers”.

I'm sure that Waitrose would punctuate it correctly!

JudgeJ · 16/10/2025 18:19

MummytoE · 16/10/2025 15:51

All jokes aside it's really disheartening that there are people out there who try to turn everything sinister

You do realise that twisting everything is a MN's Mastermind specialist subject?

OldBeyondMyYears · 16/10/2025 18:30

Ffs!! I’d like to think that you are not actually being serious…but you are, aren’t you?? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Just get a grip!! You are being utterly ridiculous!

OldBeyondMyYears · 16/10/2025 18:37

uberalice · 16/10/2025 17:15

I agree with you OP. It's not a joke about spoiling grandkids, it's a joke about teaching kids that it's fine to keep secrets from their parents.

🤯 It’s really not! Don’t be so bloody ridiculous!

Londonrach1 · 16/10/2025 18:38

Perfect and totally true. Yabu op

Peachsandcream · 16/10/2025 18:42

card clearly relates to grandparents spoiling grandkids with sweets/treats etc, seems perfectly harmless to me

LaughingCat · 16/10/2025 18:45

OonaStubbs · 16/10/2025 14:24

Would they sell a card saying "What happens at Grandad's, stays at Grandad's"?

I feel like you’re reading way too much into this. You’re the weird one here, OP. It’s not funny (what greeting card actually is), but damn, your mind went to a dark place. 😳

For the love of God get a bloody grip.
If this is seriously upsetting you must be leading a very sad life.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/10/2025 18:52

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 16/10/2025 14:16

Nah, I'm more disturbed that people buy actual cards for their pets 😂

My cats had a stamp with their paw print on to sign my Christmas cards. 🤣🤣

Livpool · 16/10/2025 18:58

Tillow4ever · 16/10/2025 14:16

It’s clearly lighthearted referring to grandma letting the kid get away with things they wouldn’t at home (eg pudding without finishing dinner, staying up late, watching tv longer than usual, etc).

Exactly! Spoilt by grandparents

Zodiacrobat · 16/10/2025 19:01

BallerinaRadio · 16/10/2025 14:53

Like what? I was looking at cards in Sainsbury's the other day and must have missed the 'Happy Birthday you old cunt' cards

If you find one, let me know, that would be perfect for my best friend’s birthday 😆 she would laugh. Because she has a sense of humour, unlike OP.

Createausername1970 · 16/10/2025 19:04

BauhausOfEliott · 16/10/2025 14:30

If a joke about spoiling grandkids makes your mind immediately go somewhere horrific, you need some serious help.

This!

If the OP has experienced SA within the family then I can see why this might be upsetting.

But for the vast majority of families this doesn't happen, and this is just a card, acknowledging that some grandparents enjoy spoiling their grandchildren, and some parents are happy to turn a blind eye because they enjoyed the same sense of being spoilt when they were kids.

Made me LOL

GameofPhones · 16/10/2025 19:54

Looking quickly, just saw Ma's and Stays, and thought it said something like 'What happens to Grandma's Stays at Christmas'? With Stays meaning 'corset' to me as a child, I did at first think the OP maybe had a point. I should have gone to SpecSavers.

YourBrickTiger · 16/10/2025 15:39

Why? Some of us don't have ANY family, and I mean ANY family. My pets are my world. My parents are dead, I have no kids and my brother isn't speaking to me. I'm more disturbed that people find the need to be so judgemental of us 😢

I'm sorry, that's awful. I'm glad you have your pets. ❤️

OonaStubbs · 16/10/2025 14:24

Would they sell a card saying "What happens at Grandad's, stays at Grandad's"?

That would have been relevant in my childhood. My Grancha was a demon for giving us those chewy toffees even after my Nana had told him not to!

DiscoBeat · 16/10/2025 21:33

It's called a joke

SmugglersHaunt · 16/10/2025 21:37

Unless your grandma is Courtney Love I think it’s fine

RememberBeKindWithKaren · 16/10/2025 21:38

I thought it was funny..Sorry.

ToLoseWeightAndNotMyMind · 16/10/2025 21:39

My ils say this all the time as they for example will allow sweets an hr b4 tea. Or have an extra dessert.
It's all said in jest of what happens at grandma's stays at grandma's or grandma has different rules.

Ils also said that about football as they heard dh swear at a match when he was about 12 so it was a joke of what happens at football stays at football. In other words I don't want it being used elsewhere
