I can't even think of a reason why this card should exist. And I was amazed to see it being sold in Sainsbury's of all places.

Would they sell a card saying "What happens at Grandad's, stays at Grandad's"?

No, but they don't. do they, so it's completely irrelevent. They don't sell a card that says "What happens at Prince Andrew's stays at Prince Andrew's" either.

It's a lighhearted joke. And it's not based on sexual abuse, it's based on "What happens in Vegas". You're completely overreacting.

Realrobin · 16/10/2025 14:33

I agree it's a bit off. It gives me creepy vibes.

What occasion is this card aimed at anyway?

Kreepture · 16/10/2025 14:33

don't be so bloody ridiculous.

jesus fucking christ, people would get offended in a blank room if you let them.

CatsorDogsrule · 16/10/2025 14:33

I'm glad I don't have the same thought process as OP. In the highly unlikely event that this card is used as a threat by Grandma, it seems more likely it might evoke a response that would be noticed and questioned by others.

Why?

DrowningInSyrup · 16/10/2025 14:36

Unless the message inside says "Because she's a Slag" then YABVVU

SandrenaIsMyBloodType · 16/10/2025 14:37

It must be very tiring being you OP

Sunshineismyfavourite · 16/10/2025 14:39

If the wording on the card is a trigger for you for whatever reason then you wouldn't buy it.

As mostly all PPs have said it's a lighthearted joke referencing Grandma spoiling the DGCs. The vast majority get that.

We can't police everything just in case someone may or may not be triggered by it. If that was the case, then all clothing stores would have to be button free!

BallerinaRadio · 16/10/2025 14:40

Oh give over you can't be serious.

😆😆😆
That would make it less naff in fairness.

It's a bit shit and not actually funny...cards seem to be so lazy these days.

Absolutely horrific.

Email the CEO of Sainsburys immediately.

I can't believe they would sell a card with a joke on it. Disgusting.

Haha! My immediate reaction to the OP was ‘eye roll’

Are you talking about the incorrect ascenders and descenders in that script, OP?!

Terrible example for children...

Oo er missus! Watch it with that kind of talk.

The complaint to the CEO should be written on the offending card.

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 16/10/2025 14:42

What do you think it means, OP?

CurlewKate · 16/10/2025 14:42

It’s a joke. Would you rather it said “What happens at grandma’s is automatically wrong” -which is the Mumsnet mantra!

Kimura · 16/10/2025 14:42

Have a day off.

Thehorticuluralhussie · 16/10/2025 14:42

Oh for goodness sake. I use this exact phrase with my DGCs and everyone, including their parents, knows that it means a bit of age-appropriate TV (no screens at home) and as many home made chocolate biscuits as they can eat. It's a way of indulging the DGCs, making them feel that they're breaking 'rules' a tiny bit but it's an open secret. They always without fail grass me up and everyone's happy.

Funnywonder · 16/10/2025 14:43

🤣🤣🤣 Nice try OP …

Moveoverdarlin · 16/10/2025 14:43

Jesus. You’re looking for something really sinister when it isn’t there. It’s referring to staying up late, too many chocolates, skipping bath time, watching Strictly when they should be in bed, letting the dog cuddle on the sofa.

The majority of kids associate time with their grandparents as a magical time. A tiny amount are abused there and told to keep quiet. There is nothing wrong with this card. I feel for you.

nomas · 16/10/2025 14:44

OMG chill out.

It's a card for GRANDMAS.

Not a secret coded message to children about paedophile grandmothers Hmm

purpleme12 · 16/10/2025 14:45

What a to-do about nothing

OonaStubbs · 16/10/2025 14:24

Would they sell a card saying "What happens at Grandad's, stays at Grandad's"?

No because the joke wouldn't be relevant.

Its not a 'thing' that grandfathers are known to give their grandchildren chocolates, sweets and spoil them rotten given half a chance so it wouldn't be funny. People would go eh? What does that mean? Whereas with grandma people go oh haha yes my granny always used to fill me full of sugar then wave me off too. Hehe.

Its a shame that grandads aren't generally seen as the spoilers of children in the same way grandmas are but what can you do?
