I can't even think of a reason why this card should exist. And I was amazed to see it being sold in Sainsbury's of all places.

Post of the year 😂😂😂

Agreed!

Itiswhysofew · 16/10/2025 15:28

I dont understand why that card would actually be sent? It's a bit creepyGrin

Could be worse…

12Giraffes · 16/10/2025 15:28

Fucking hell, the world is rapidly becoming a joyless hellscape.

Seriously, step back, and consider that a totally innocuous greetings card is getting you so worked up.

Then go and find something else to do.

Would they sell a card saying "What happens at Grandad's, stays at Grandad's"?

I hope so, poor Granddad not allowed to spoil his grandkids. I hope there's one for Grandma and Grandpa too for children lucky enough to have both.

It's not a mafia promise the grand parents have entered into with the grandkids. Or do you specifically not trust your parents or your parents in law with your children? I assume if you had the slightest suspicion of anything bad they wouldn't be going to Grandma's or Grandpa's house at all.

My Mother had a fridge magnet that said 'Grandma's House; Children Spoiled While You Wait'

I think this is from the same vein of humour.

MoominMai · 16/10/2025 15:34

It’s a sweet nod to the way that some grandparents insist on spoiling their grandkids - and for some the only relief from ‘rules’ they get! I think it’s very funny and if I ever become a step grand parent to any rascals, I’ll definitely be handing them out I’d hope! 🙂🙃

Hoppinggreen · 16/10/2025 15:34

I know - its very ADSA

LooseCanyon · 16/10/2025 15:35

I'm just glad they got the apostrophes right. So it gets my vote!

Nah, I'm more disturbed that people buy actual cards for their pets 😂

I did buy that one in the OP for my dog. Do you have a problem with that? Is it because it's teaching the little bitch to keep secrets from me?

In what way? It's just a skit on a common phrase that now gets used for all sorts of things that (allegedly) parents, spouses, friends, etc might disapprove of, but actually don't. Usually followed by full disclosure and a lot of laughter. It's just implying that Grandma has a lot of fun with the grandkids

Why? Some of us don't have ANY family, and I mean ANY family. My pets are my world. My parents are dead, I have no kids and my brother isn't speaking to me. I'm more disturbed that people find the need to be so judgemental of us 😢

HangingOver · 16/10/2025 15:39

Sadly I know exactly what you mean OP. I don't think it should be banned though. For most people it's a nice joke. It's kind of icky ironic if you're in the sad minority.

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 16/10/2025 15:40

Unless the inside reads ‘because Grandads a mighty nonce’ YABU.
Its just a twee saying 99% would roll their eyes at/ find mildly amusing

EmeraldShamrock000 · 16/10/2025 15:40

Email the card company suggest that they add "lighthearted".

HelpMeGetThrough · 16/10/2025 15:41

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 16/10/2025 14:16

It's just a joke, probably about the sweets, junk food and late bedtimes kids get at their grandma's that their parents wouldn't approve of.

That’s exactly how I took it.

CrazyGoatLady · 16/10/2025 15:41

Oh dear, someone hasn't got any real world problems to worry about have they!

If you don't like the card, here's a thought - don't buy it. Or alternatively, buy the lot and put them on your bonfire on 5th November if it bothers you that much, at least you'll get something useful out of that!

I have close family, and they get cards from our dog 😅

There's no shame in our game, @YourBrickTiger

TriesNotToBeCynical · 16/10/2025 15:03

That is very important point. I remember being in hospital at the age of 5 or 6 or so and the nurses taking away (probably for sound reasons) the sweets my parents gave me, and telling me not to tell my parents they had done so. I still remember how stressful this was. It is a very thoughtless thing to tell children, as well as dangerous.

All right, keep it light
