What are Hamas playing at?

It’s deeply worrying that Hamas haven’t returned all the dead hostages as agreed. I’ve seen comments saying it’s an impossible task given how Gaza has been reduced to rubble. But if that’s the case, they would have known they had lost the bodies. So why did they agree to return them if they knew they weren’t able to do so?

Why? Are you pro Trump and pro Netanyahu and his cronies in government? Do you support the occupation of the Palestinians? Are you pro ethnic cleansing? Pro genocide?

This thread is about Hamas, their murderous, medieval, extremist and terrorist ways. This thread is about Gaza and its regime.

Im not pro anything, other than peace deals and if that is achieved, all well and good.

There has been no ethnic cleansing or genocide.

The fact you cannot come out and say and see how dangerous and negative regimes like this are, along with the people that support says it all.

There's a clause in the agreement that makes allowances for them not being able to find all the bodies by the deadline.

Clearly Israel hasn’t received the email then if they’re still refusing access to much of the aid and still trying to starve Palestinians.

The cease fire won't hold. It can't you have two of the most evil groups in the world fighting each other to the death. They need divide the country and have a demilitarised zone between them like between North and South Korea.

Israelis are evil?

They weren't charged, so presumably there was no evidence. They were just people rounded up in Gaza and held without trial.

Not charged yet. Presumably they were swamped with criminals looking at the numbers. No surprises that there's a backlog.

The 9000 aren't hostages. They're prisoners for crimes committed...there lies the difference. Releasing thousands of criminals back into Gaza. What could possibly go wrong...

5k are in "administrative dentention" ie accused of no crime but simply kidnapped including over 300 children.

Israel claims a further 3k are prisoners of war, but they were also abducted from the territory that they were invading.

Many of them are heathcare professionals directly kidnapped from hospitals as they were treating casualties of atrocities.

Some posters cant help themselves can they.... biting at the bit to come out with what they really want to without getting deleted. Must be exhausting for them...the mask soon starts to slip.

9000 prisoner held without charge or trial?

We don’t know of their previous location
Clearly they were in an accessible and known place or they wouldn’t have been returned so quickly

It’s not inconceivable to understand not everyone will be in the same place.
It was a war zone !
It’s now a demolition site.

Why do you think any of this pertains to what I wrote? You replied to a post of mine that said it wouldn't be a surprise if Hamas can't get all of them. You need to read discussions before wading in.

You're making things up. 'Ie' isn't fact but your assumption. They've committed crime and are awaiting trial.

Completely agree - no one should be sending arms to either of them.

9000 prisoner held without charge or trial?

Can't you see that 9000 is a lot of people to stand trial? Like over here - unless bailed they're held until tried.

The Israeli government is evil in my view. Not all Israelis are evil, anymore than all Palestinians are evil.

‘ They’re prisoners for crimes committed‘

Incorrect!!
The vast majority are held by
internment without trial and many without charge

Unless you can prove they’ve all been through the legal process of trial. ( do you have proof ? ) No !

So innocent until proven guilty

Of those in detention: ( April 2025 )

  • 3,498 are held without charge or trial
  • 400 are children
  • 27 are women
  • 299 are serving life sentences.

Have you read my OP? I literally address this very point!

Israel has reduced buildings and entire areas to rubble.

1000s of people are dead - maybe those who know where the bodies are, are dead or maybe not. The Hamas people doing the negotiations may not have a full picture.

The people of Gaza need to concentrate on the living. They need to survive before seeing returning the dead.

There will be some people from Hamas who are dreadful enough to deliberately withhold the bodies and there will be some on the Israeli side who will use that to push for more violence. Hands are not clean on either side. I hope these people are just a few. Unfortunately, I suspect quite a portion of the few are in the Israeli and Hamas leadership.

My heart goes out to the families of the hostages who need closure and the civilians in Gaza who will struggle to live in the hell created by this whole fiasco.

I’m not sure Hamas have any intention of cooperating.

I don't think they do either. They did public executions the day after the cease fire was announced.

Clearly Israel hasn’t received the email then if they’re still refusing access to much of the aid and still trying to starve Palestinians.

I believe they're doing so as a penalty for late delivery. The clause is to stipulate that Hamas haven't broken the agreement if they aren't able to meet deadlines.

Can't you see that 9000 is a lot of people to stand trial? Like over here - unless bailed they're held until tried.

Wrong

This from Amnesty.org and an Israeli human rights organisation
November 2023

“ Awaiting sentence is rarely a factor for the thousands in administrative detention

Since 7 October, Israeli forces have detained more than 2,200 Palestinian men and women, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club.
According to Israeli human rights organization HaMoked between 1 October and 1 November, the total number of Palestinians held in administrative detention, without charge or trial, rose from 1,319 to 2,070.

Over the last month we have witnessed a significant spike in Israel’s use of administrative detention – detention without charge or trial that can be renewed indefinitely – which was already at a 20-year high before the latest escalation in hostilities on 7 October.

Administrative detention is one of the key tools through which Israel has enforced its system of apartheid against Palestinians. “

We don't hold anyone for more than a few hours without charge.

And we don't assume they're guilty until after their trial.

Your post said they could hold onto 7 bodies ! So ????

That doesn’t mean they can hold onto them all and to suggest they can is nonsense

My post is perfectly relevant to yours
Don’t demean my post which is purely a logical one to yours which is not

Exactly

Israel are freely using administrative detention of thousands
