To now be increasingly concerned about illegal boat arrivals

CalmShaker · 14/10/2025 21:33

I've kept a level head with boat crossing arrivals but recently I've become concerned that there are some really unpleasant people being let in. This story was hard to watch on the news this evening;

Asylum seeker 'murdered hotel worker Rhiannon Whyte in frenzied attack' - BBC News https://share.google/qxzed2MD19TYPKasQ

I welcome genuine asylum but I don't believe that is what is happening anymore.
The story immediately before the above on national news this evening was the migrant who had threatened Nigel Farrage. I know Nigel is not the most popular of people but the migrant was horrid, clearly dangerous and not safe to be on our streets.
Financial cost and all other factors aside, it's the safety aspect that worry me most.

The biggest risk to women comes from the men closest to them. The ones painting roundabouts and threatening refugees in hotels are more likely to kill you than most

Yawn

Already covered

The only person who has mentioned Tommy Robinson is PP who accused other posters of being a fan of him.

There are far more dangerous people than TR hiding in plain sight in this country. If only the authorities were as diligent in rooting them out and deporting them. Sadly their rights seem to trump those of the British taxpayers

Obviously you’re right but they don’t care. They’re in leafy areas with safe children.

It won’t always be that way.

Why ? Has reform promised you that if you vote for them they will get rid of enough ‘foreigners’ so that you can get the nice jobs, nice houses in leafy green areas? Honestly I have come across so many that actually believe this nonsense.

DiscoBob · 14/10/2025 22:37

'illegal' migrants arriving in the UK have actually decreased since around 10 years ago.

I’m voting Conservative.

You sound about 8 years old.

The whole debate is a “look over here” divide and rule distraction whilst we are being bled dry by massive corporations..but yeah the real problem is some poor bod from Syria or Afghanistan whose country has been bombed and trashed with UK support. Some people are being led by the nose by vested interests ..appealing to their base cruelty. If this is about over crowding you’d be raising hell about non doms…. I guess that’s ok for some reason?

I agree and I know exactly who you mean. They really worry me as well. I probably can’t even say their names on here but they’re very shady.

Wrong. We won't be a pariah. No one cares. Most countries realise there is a problem and are taking steps. We need to start thinking about the people in our own country rather than virtue signalling to people in the world who don't care about the UK's views anyway.

Thousands of people care. We are not all as heartless and lacking in imagination as you.

Which corporations exactly?

That seems to be the standard response but I'm finding that hard to continually accept.
What is the purpose of having background checks, rules, criminal history if someone can just bypass that and enter via boat. We are then told, it's fine statistically nothing will happen. But it is happening.

Absolutely right and why do we all have passports? One rule for one mentality

HRTQueen · 14/10/2025 22:39

I want to see more women and young children here maybe less people but people we can really give support to. We simply have few resources at present to
take in the numbers and support them

and groups of young men with nothing to do are always difficult to manage

We don't actually know the real figures as there is no proper system able to detect and count all the men tripping in. They will come on boats and via Ireland.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 14/10/2025 22:40

BluntPlumHam · 14/10/2025 22:21

Yeah go on. Show the establishment and shoot yourself in the foot like you did with Brexit. Honestly some just don’t learn.

I didn't vote for Brexit 🤣🤣

They haven’t if you mean asylum seekers.

Mumsnet is so good with misogyny issues usually but so wilfully blind on this issue. I really resent the Aunt Lydias on this topic.

I think part of the issue is that women in general are socialised to #bekind. To not be seen to be #racist. To shut down some valid concerns about people coming from countries with less than stellar attitudes towards women and girls and whose attitudes towards us don’t suddenly change just because they’ve arrived on UK soil. We have plenty of homegrown misogyny, they’ll say. We do, but that’s a straw man’s arguement imo.

Bunny44 · 14/10/2025 22:43

BluntPlumHam · 14/10/2025 21:35

Sigh. Here we go again. Op you’re more likely to be killed by your relative as in brother/husband or son than you are an asylum seeker.

Check the femicide stats from home office.

This 1000x. Numbers speak truth..not Farage, not the Daily fail, not Dave down the pub.

Yes but most people in this country according to polls have had enough. Don't virtue signal making out you are a good person and the majority aren't. I think people who are keen on vast numbers of immigrants and asylum seekers are immoral. There are poor and needy people in this country too. Our young people can't get housing. We are heading for bankruptcy and can't support our own let alone the numbers coming.

ladygindiva · 14/10/2025 22:44

I hate to break it to you but there's thousands of violent unpleasant bastards already on this island going back generations ....

IstillloveKingThistle · 14/10/2025 22:44

Bigpinksweater · 14/10/2025 21:44

No, they’re really not. The vast majority of the UK’s problems are due to overcrowding, a reliance on benefits and mental health. How does throwing in a few million extras who will need intense support, housing and no doubt carry some kind of trauma help us?

It’s not sustainable.
It is a huge huge concern of a very large majority of the indigenous population and yes, we’re allowed to say immigration without being deemed as racists.

We have a bunch of people in charge with no bollocks and no answers .. just spouting rhetoric.

We are up shit street for sure . ☹️
