Dh went to carpark last week. He parked slightly over the hatching instead of within white lines as he had a passenger and car next to him was quite close to white line. Obviously his parking isn’t great but worth an appeal for £100 fine?

@Doris86 a parking companies invoice is an invoice, not a speculative invoice

If the car park has adequate signage with the parking terms & conditions, penalty amounts, company contact details etc then the charges are enforceable in court (easily enforceable) then it has those facts behind it. A speculative invoice carries the threat of legal action without the basis of facts behind it (that’s the speculative element)

If the car park has adequate signage and you continue to use the car park then you have entered into a contract, fail to comply with the terms of the contract and expect a valid invoice which can be enforced in court.

I agree it’s rubbish parking but he didn’t take up 2 spaces

But he only hasn’t taken up 2 spaces because he’s in there’s hatching next to him rather than another space. It’s awful parking and he deserves a ticket.

Appeal it. If it’s a Tesco car park you’d be amazed how many people get fines overturned, they come into us with the letter but we can’t do anything because it’s run by a private company.

It's hashed for a reason such as if emergency vehicles needed access.
He's parked on the hashed area where he should not park. No ground to stand on with appeal. I wouldn't bother, would pay the fine and not do it again.
