The jokes about H from steps are really cruel. A person's name is a massive part of someone's identity and to have your name tarnished in the way his has been must be awful. He's already been mistaken in the media for being the lost prophet singer.

Leave the poor guy out of this.

This!

can we stop with all the H from steps shit on this thread.

you aren’t funny with your posts, we aren’t all 'spitting our tea out' at your comments

No less than deserved IMHO.

OneAmusedShark · 12/10/2025 22:31

Pity the state couldn’t have done it 12 years ago with the aid of a length of rope and a trap-door, frankly.

Yep. This. ^

Has it really been 12 years? Good grief! Shock In my head it was like, 5 or 6!

CherryRipe1 · 13/10/2025 06:02

Further news reports are that it was two men. The younger 25 year old did the stabbing and was a career type criminal in Wakefield for murder. Whether he did it because he hated pedo Watkins & his arrogance, wanted prison kudos, angry over protection money/drugs funds running out, Watkins pda with groupies I guess we shall find out eventually.

Do people still want to shake hands and give medals to the men who killed Watkins?
One of them grabbed a woman off the street and raped her 5 times

Maybe the other fella then, he and some other drug dealers attacked a 22 year old and a 16 years old, murdering the 22 year old. When he was sentenced he laughed and laid down in the dock https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c03xe0j0xwro

Unsurprising in every sense. The first time Watkins was stabbed was in a row over drugs money. Reports in the MEN and elsewhere suggest that Watkins was regularly being fleeced for protection money, being a particular target because he was a high profile offender known to have money.

The PP who suggested this possibility upthread was, as it turns out, spot on. His killers are the dregs of the earth. They're not as bad as he was - it's difficult to imagine any scenario that is - but they are cut of the same cloth as the usual calibre of violent, murderous or sexual offender housed in that prison. So it does seem that any moral justification of his murder as borne out of horror of his hideous actions now goes out of the window. 'Moral' isn't a word in these mens' vocabulary.

Horrific but predictable. It was obvious these were exactly the kinds of people they’d be.

I suppose one very small positive is they will now have increased sentences over and above the inadequate ones they previously received and the public will be protected for longer.

Absolutely this. Ian Watkins was an absolute henious individual, up there with the worst and I'm for one and am not sad at all he's dead. But I'm uncomfortable with celebrating the people who did murder him and talk of wanting to buy them drinks and medals. These people are also criminals and as shown above, there are victims to their crimes. I hardly think the families of these victims would want them released early or being celebrated by others.

SpottyAardvark · 13/10/2025 10:49

Two men have been charged with Watkins’ murder.

I sincerely hope there is no jury in this country which would convict them. I hope I am called up to serve on that jury. If I am, I will vote to acquit, irrespective of the evidence.

I sincerely hope a jury WILL convict.

One of the accused was jailed for murdering an innocent stranger in cold blood in a case of mistaken identity.

The other is a rapist and kidnapper serving 24 years.

Hopefully a sensible jury is selected for the case. Don't need this pair, if guilty, back on the street.

Do you really want it to be okay for violent criminals to stick knives into who ever they want to in jail.

To think that there might actually be people like this called to serve on a jury is terrifying.

You convict or acquit on the basis of the evidence presented, to the bar of 'beyond reasonable doubt'. No other criterion is appropriate.

Clearly noble gentleman convicts! Perhaps these people think Wakefield Prison is like the prison in Paddington 2. All marmalade sarnies and Hugh Grant musicals.

Wakefield is known as Monster Mansion, Mark Bridger and Mick Philpott are in there along with Roy Whiting, and Sidney Cooke. Murderers and paedophiles. Would they be deserving of a high five if it had been them killing Watkins. What it Watkins had killed Roy Whiting, would that be good or bad?

I shed no tears for Watkins, but let's not pretend there is some sort of code of honour being played out here and these men were acting out of some of moral conviction. They're all dangerous men who will continue to be dangerous and have no ethics or values.

Luckily we have juries of 12 in this country for this very reason. Honestly, im speechless at comments like this.

overstimulatedhermit · 13/10/2025 11:52

Good I’m glad he’s dead. And I don’t care who killed him or how he died, he deserved all of it. On top of being a baby rapist the police found 27 terabytes of child abuse images on his devices. Prison was too good for him, phones, drugs and fans visiting him 🤮 someone needs to check their hard drives too.
