Sadiq Khan. Can anyone tell me something positive about what he has done?

So the past few days I've unfortunately gone down a bit of a rabbit hole of clips about the Mayor of London.

From what I have seen the man is an utter buffoon who has done nothing to improve London, in fact quite the opposite.

Strikes increasing. Homelessness increasing. Crime - off the charts. Congestion zone charges etc.

And don't get me started on the deputy who seems to be from another planet!

I am not from London, so just wondering if anyone at all has anything positive at all to say about this catastrophe of man!

An example of London's 'decline'. I went to a gig in St Pancras Old Church last night, after a really good Chinese meal.
It's not that long ago that the area around and behind King's Cross was seriously sketchy. No way you'd walk round there after dark. It was pretty much synonymous with red light district.
Now? It's bloody lovely. Coal Drops Yard is fantastic. Bustling with shops and restaurants and the hq of Google.
See also Battersea Power Station and the area around there. There's so much more to London than the West End.

Travelcards into London from surrounding counties - why on earth should Londoners be paying for those who don’t even live here to travel here? Of course that should be scrapped.

Decline of Oxford Street - Oxford Street is a high street just like many others in the country, with the same shops, and it faces the same challenges as all the others. There’s only Selfridges left of the old guard now as a vaguely “destination” shop. Even decades ago, I was baffled that anyone would travel all the way into London just to go shopping on Oxford Street - unless you were a teen girl aiming for the bigTopShop. Oxford Street is still heaving with people, though - loads of tourists.

It is literally a video of Khan disrespecting women repeatedly and those women calling him out for it. How does that not prove the point - feel free to find a video of him treating male elected officials like shit if you wish. He refuses to answer valid questions in the video too, you can see him stalling until the time runs out to the frustration of the LIb Dem assembly member. I don’t see how anyone can watch that video and not see what an utter cunt he is. He doesn’t think women have any right to question him at all.

And why is it such a dumb idea to want different Mayors when areas have very different want and needs. Ideally the Mayor would just be for the Inner Boroughs anyway and then they can pay for him!

I live in an "outer borough' and I want to keep Khan. I love how mich cleaner everything is now because of Ulez. Particularly as both my kids have asthma. It's been noticeable how they've had less asthma atta less the last couple of years. Also free school meals? Yes please!

Around my way it's the gammon vigilante types who don't like Khan. The same ones who put up flags ar half mast on lamp posts. Some of the. Spend their weekends trying to vandalise Ulez cameras too. Morons.

At repeated points in the video you see women commenting about how he continually talks over them and refuses to answer their questions. Do you think they are making it up?

The video might indicate that he is disrespecting women. It might mean that he is disrespectful to anyone who questions him. It might mean he is incredibly rude generally. Or it might be a video of carefully selected very short out of context clips created by his political opponents. Who knows?

Actually, as a committed Labour supporter, one of my issues with Starmer is that he sometimes appears very patronising when he addresses women!

it is impossible to comment in detail on your video because there is no way of knowing which Khan comment goes with which other comment. And the motivation and intent of the publishers of the video is clear. Presumably there are plenty of longer more coherent clips you can share?

Ok - so even by your assessment 3/4 of the explanations suggest he is a dreadful person!

But you can literally see the women calling him out for ignoring them? Even if the bits of him rolling his eyes etc are not in response to those comments (which is unlikely as the enormous PR team that Khan employs that massively increased when he took over and we pay for would probably insist the video was taken down) then are you saying those women are lying?

Does that include old people's railcards? I'm going to London next month, and it would be handy if it did.

Khan has a security detail because the racist halfwits who don't like his skin colour or religion keep making death threats.

The irony of someone disliking Khan because of his security team, which is only necessary because people don't like him, has quite amused me, in a dark sort of way.

I read something a while ago that said his security arrangements are on a par with those of the king and prime minister. It's really alarming that a city mayor, whose powers are relatively limited, can be so hated imo.

Iirc, he's hated by militant Islamists as well as by racists, so extremists on both sides. I'll see if I can find the article.

Khan does get horrible pressure from some Muslim groups about his family. I think he has two daughters and they do not veil or cover themselves in live in a strict way.

It does AFAIK. I have a Disabled Person's Railcard linked to my Oyster card and you just need to take it to a staff member in a tube station so they can put it on for you. It makes a massive difference to me .

@CurlewKate , In an interviewed after one of his elections. I think he may have been correcting the English interviewer who thought that Khan had automatic universal backing from all Muslims. Death threats and factions were mentioned.

Everything is kept very secret. He could not I think anywhere public like Ice-skating as Rishi did with his girls.

My drive to the ILs has a stretch where you can see right across London from the south. DP and I often used to comment on the pall of pollution across the centre, now it's astonishingly clear. You can see the sun glinting on the Shard on bright days.

I took my daughter to London for a few days, during the summer holidays. From the arboreal walkway in Kew, we could see the Post Office Tower and beyond. When I used to visit in the 80s, we used to come back with black snot.

Until fairly recently, Starker had forgotten what a woman was altogether.

He knew when he got married but between then and the High Court ruling, he seemed to.have had a memory lapse.

I think you'll find plenty of women saying negative things about Starmer if you look in the right places.

In fact, you can find someome saying pretty much whatever you want to find them saying if you look in the right places...
