What do you do for your Xmas breakfast?

I am hosting for the first time. I am 29, in my newly gutted and decorated home so plan to push the boat out. No children will be in attendance. Only adults. I enjoy hosting and cooking/baking.

What do you do for Christmas brekkie? I want it to be posh but light and easy. I was thinking of doing cinnamon buns and fruit salad. Plus tea, coffee, juice and fizz.

But then I think most people who are coming don’t really have sweet tooth’s (myself included liked). Stuffed croissants? DIY style? There will be a couple of veggies. And then some mini sweet pastries? But then that seems like too much pastry. Parfait?

I wouldn’t mind doing waffles/crepes but I don’t think that will be fun as I don’t want to be stuck in the kitchen whilst everyone else eats.

Xmas lunch is at 2.

Sorry this is being asked in Oct!

there will be plenty of snacks/canapes/seeet treats throughout the day

We always do smoked salmon with poached eggs on sourdough with bucks fizz!

Harleyband · 10/10/2025 13:40

Breakfast casserole- like a bread pudding but make it savoury with sausage (we use vegetarian), cheese and onion. Herbs to season to taste. Make it the night before and bake it on Christmas morning. Serve with Mimosas

FlipFlopVibe · 10/10/2025 15:08

Croissants after the kids have gone wild at 9-9:30. After we all get ready we have smoked salmon canapés and champagne about 12 and then full Christmas dinner around 2:30

linsey2581 · 10/10/2025 15:43

A big pile of buttery toast

LadyHexham · 10/10/2025 15:49

Usually porridge with Demerara sugar, cream and a splash of whisky.

butterfly0404 · 10/10/2025 15:57

Champagne and a few olives for me, can't eat breakfast and xmas lunch, way too much food in a day. I try and save some room for a few cheese snd crackers in the evening but usually too full for that too.

But, for guests, a selection of croisants, pastries, fruits, some yoghurt, jams, marmalades etc should be plenty before a big lunch.

Pork pie here too . With sourdough toast .

Think that’s 3 of us on this thread who have pork pie 🤣 Glad to know I am not the only one!

Pork pie for breakfast on Christmas Day is a tradition in the East Midlands.

AhBiscuits · 10/10/2025 16:22

I've never heard of pork pie for breakfast but I LOVE pork pie, I can get on board with that.

ThatGreenFawn · 10/10/2025 17:13

Honestly it’s spot on . Particularly if you’ve had a heavy Christmas Eve 😂

Youdontseehow · 10/10/2025 17:21

I’m in Scotland so it’s rolls ‘n’ slice with potato scone. Black pudding and brown sauce optional.

What do you do for your Xmas breakfast?
Willyoujust · 10/10/2025 17:32

Scrambled egg, smoked salmon, avocado and Buck’s Fizz.

Farmwifefarmlife · 10/10/2025 17:47

Bundleflower · 08/10/2025 17:48

Smoked salmon with poached eggs. Washed down with Bucks Fizz. The ‘Bucks’ element optional!

Same or we do the little pancake things the kids love them , just a bit of scrambled or poached egg smoked salmon. Perfectly simple but looks good too.

Ventress · 10/10/2025 18:12

I always make Nigwlla’s Christmas morning muffins and coffee and juice. But we don’t have guests for breakfast.

I save the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for Boxing Day brunch.

Vegan cooked brekkie, something I have always done.

Would you mind telling.me what you make?

You’ve just made my xmas!!! Cointreau in Buck’s Fizz!!! Who knew!!!
smoked salmon, cream cheese bagels here.

Not me who invented it ! Oz Clarke the wine buff. We always had Buck’s Fizz - his addition about 15 years ago improved it no end !

Starling7 · 10/10/2025 20:55

In Australia my ( now ex) husband's family always did warm croissants with filling options as you mentioned yourself. Everyone seemed to enjoy them!

AppleandPB · 10/10/2025 21:02

Panettone, Christmas tree brioche for the kids, clementine juice and coffee. Easy and quick .

hattie43 · 11/10/2025 07:08

Sahara123 · 10/10/2025 11:22

Ah but you haven’t experienced my roast turkey lunch , or my cold cuts meal ! Which involves Christmas coleslaw and Delia’s spiced red cabbage with cranberries 😋. Need to leave room for all that 🤣

Ah fair do’s lol. That sounds lovely

MeAndTheDoggo · 11/10/2025 08:29

Crusty baguette, slightly warm.
bacon fried until crispy, Brie and cranberry sauce (gif my mouth is actually watering at the thought)

Tumbleweed101 · 11/10/2025 08:55

I’d make breakfast leisurely, cooking the main meal will keep you busy.

I’d get in a selection of nice cereals and some type of pastries. Leave everything nicely presented so people can come and help themselves and eat when they’ve got up and showered in their own time.

LancashireButterPie · 11/10/2025 08:58

Either smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast/muffins, or MacDonalds fakeaway bacon and egg muffins complete with plastic cheese slices.
Washed down with prosecco or champagne if we have been gifted any!
The vegetarians have vegi sausages instead of bacon or salmon.
