What do you do for your Xmas breakfast?

I am hosting for the first time. I am 29, in my newly gutted and decorated home so plan to push the boat out. No children will be in attendance. Only adults. I enjoy hosting and cooking/baking.

What do you do for Christmas brekkie? I want it to be posh but light and easy. I was thinking of doing cinnamon buns and fruit salad. Plus tea, coffee, juice and fizz.

But then I think most people who are coming don’t really have sweet tooth’s (myself included liked). Stuffed croissants? DIY style? There will be a couple of veggies. And then some mini sweet pastries? But then that seems like too much pastry. Parfait?

I wouldn’t mind doing waffles/crepes but I don’t think that will be fun as I don’t want to be stuck in the kitchen whilst everyone else eats.

Xmas lunch is at 2.

Sorry this is being asked in Oct!

there will be plenty of snacks/canapes/seeet treats throughout the day

Cinnamon buns

AbbeyGrange · 09/10/2025 19:13

Smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and Bucks Fizz of course...

MeAndMyGhost · 09/10/2025 19:18

Smoked salmon and cream cheese blinis with a squizz of lemon is enough to make me feel full and still enjoy the slight effects of the mandatory Christmas morning fizz.

Chocs as a snack to see me through until Christmas lunch.

Laurmolonlabe · 09/10/2025 19:21

We just do Christmas for ourselves, we eat around 2 as well I serve the starter around 12.30 - smoked salmon/ lobster/prawns with a little thinly sliced brown bread and butter and a glass of Buck's fizz. Should I be hosting (and getting up earlier) i would offer warm croissants and chocolate or coffee around 9.30/10.00.

TranquilWater · 09/10/2025 19:25

Greek yogurt - a really creamy one like Fage - with fruit, honey & granola, plus freshly baked (from frozen) French pastries and cinnamon rolls and maybe bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon. They’re going to have a big meal later on anyway.

Floorsweepingsgalore · 09/10/2025 19:28

We have animals so are up and out early but we come home to a selection of bacon rolls with coffee and/or Nigella’s Christmas muffins with clementines.

Goldengirl123 · 09/10/2025 19:31

Sounds perfect

SoOriginal · 09/10/2025 19:35

We have a bread basket with a selection of pastries. A plate of ham, cheeses, sliced tomatoes and spinach. A few boiled eggs, a fruit salad, a bowl of yoghurt and selection of preserves. It’s my favourite part of the day 🤣

IAmThePrettiestManOnMyIsland · 09/10/2025 19:37

Pate on toast. We have dinner at 2.

ICanSpellConfusionWithaK · 09/10/2025 19:49

Bacon baps. Literally chuck the bacon in the oven and away we go.

OutOfDateTreacle · 09/10/2025 19:50

Depends what time you want to serve/ eat the main event.
If you want to rise late-ish, have a relaxed brunch and a good walk and some time after the King (and you say you’ve got savoury-toothed adults) I’d do something like:
Clementine juice
smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, wilted spinach with toast
Croissants and jam

ShortColdandGrey · 09/10/2025 19:53

Warm crusty bread, all the cheeses, cold meats, smoked salmon, paté, and anything else that you fancy. It is everyone's favourite breakfast of the year.

WhatMummyMakesSheEats · 09/10/2025 19:53

croissants with butter / jam / cheese and bucks fizz

tinkerbelldot · 09/10/2025 19:55

I make a trifle on Xmas Eve, I’ve had this for breakfast on Xmas Day for over 25 years 😋

Orangedreams · 09/10/2025 19:57

I open the quality street tub and bucks fizz

geoger · 09/10/2025 20:01

My selection box and a cup of tea

TheShyMumX · 09/10/2025 20:06

Some very fancy breakfasts on here! We usually spend Christmas with my family and I usually have a tube of smarties, few malteasers and a fererro rocher. Washed down with a coke (glass bottle one obvs)
a 10/10 Xmas breakfast and if I’ve been good all year these things will be in my stocking from Santa aka mum so I won’t even have to move!

knor · 09/10/2025 20:07

We do eggs Benedict and mimosas! But good to have pastries and fresh fruit on the side

Dancingsquirrels · 09/10/2025 20:07

We just have normal breakfast and the main meal / celebration is Christmas lunch

Travelfairy · 09/10/2025 20:09

I would go with some savoury options, mini breakfast bites (basically mini quiches) sausage rolls or even cocktail sausages. Bacon butties. I dont have a sweet tooth so wouldn't eat pastries etc for breakfast and would be starving!

Pork pie is traditional here.

Wow. I would never have thought of this but my god I need to do this this year.

whatcanthematterbe81 · 09/10/2025 20:12

We have smoked salmon and mimosa

Rubyupbeat · 09/10/2025 20:13

Vegan cooked brekkie, something I have always done.

What’s your normal breakfast tho? I would feel a bit meh getting the cornflakes out which is quite weird really. Christmas does make some of us a bit mental like that 🤣

FurForksSake · 09/10/2025 20:15

@whatcanthematterbe81 cornflakes with extra thick double cream, a swig of baileys and some charred segments of clementine?
