What do you do for your Xmas breakfast?

I am hosting for the first time. I am 29, in my newly gutted and decorated home so plan to push the boat out. No children will be in attendance. Only adults. I enjoy hosting and cooking/baking.

What do you do for Christmas brekkie? I want it to be posh but light and easy. I was thinking of doing cinnamon buns and fruit salad. Plus tea, coffee, juice and fizz.

But then I think most people who are coming don’t really have sweet tooth’s (myself included liked). Stuffed croissants? DIY style? There will be a couple of veggies. And then some mini sweet pastries? But then that seems like too much pastry. Parfait?

I wouldn’t mind doing waffles/crepes but I don’t think that will be fun as I don’t want to be stuck in the kitchen whilst everyone else eats.

Xmas lunch is at 2.

Sorry this is being asked in Oct!

there will be plenty of snacks/canapes/seeet treats throughout the day

We have a brunch as we eat in the early evening, so no help really.

We have bacon, eggs, sausage, potato hash, cinnamon rolls, clementines, coffee, tea.

You could make savory rolls with cheese, ham, peppers...

Or have smoked salmon and other savory breakfast hors d'oeuvres.

What’s your normal breakfast tho? I would feel a bit meh getting the cornflakes out which is quite weird really. Christmas does make some of us a bit mental like that 🤣

Yeah just cereal and toast! But it's just us, no visitors until later in the day

I like that. I think I’m guilty of overthinking Xmas stuff. It’s only us too but for some weird reason I think it has to be a special breakfast. It doesn’t tho does it. I half want to do a normal breakfast now but also want to do pork pies like Pp. so easily influenced 🤣

Mcoco · 09/10/2025 20:41

Toast. 😉

Very similar to @Bundleflower
scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and cream
Bucks Fizz with Cointreau as well as orange juice and bubbles

You’ve just made my xmas!!! Cointreau in Buck’s Fizz!!! Who knew!!!
smoked salmon, cream cheese bagels here.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 09/10/2025 20:43

Chocolate surely! It's Christmas day after all.

I tend to skip breakfast and just have chocolate once it's past 9am.

BambinaCucina · 09/10/2025 20:46

If at home, I make cinnamon buns and prove in the fridge overnight.

If staying at my parents, we'll go to my sister and have rolls with sausage or bacon.

LeBonBon · 09/10/2025 20:46

Before kids we would do Christmas lunch/dinner at 4pm so had quite a big breakfast.

Smoked salmon or trout, sourdough, avocado, poached eggs. You could leave out the fish for the veggies? Roast some tomatoes instead or other veg? Bucks fizz on tap. Miss those days!

1apenny2apenny · 09/10/2025 20:57

We don’t have breakfast as such but have our ‘starter’ at 11:30 ish - smoked salmon blinis/pate on sourdough with champagne or (and) cocktails. That said it’s a family thing and if I had people staying I would put out a typical breakfast - fresh fruit, home made muesli, sourdough toast and marmalade.

Food on Christmas Day, for us, is more about planning and ensuring there’s a mix. Christmas lunch/dinner (in our house) is a very full on affair so I wouldn’t do bacon rolls for breakfast for example because we have turkey and ham as well as pibs with the main meal.

mummymissessunshine · 09/10/2025 21:04

nigella Christmas muffins as a snack / whilst opening stockings
then a sit down breakfast…..
smoked salmon
scrambled eggs
toast
coffee
prosecco
juice

we won’t have Christmas lunch until 230pm. So sees us through!

LandladyofTheValley · 09/10/2025 21:06

Smoked salmon, cream cheese or scrambled egg with either a toasted muffin or a bagel. DS has pate because he's allergic to salmon
Very simple and light

AgeingGreycefully · 09/10/2025 21:08

We usually have a selection of good pastries cooked from frozen, toast, coffee and juice. We always eat before opening presents so want something lovely but fairly quick!!

MagratsDanglyCharms21 · 09/10/2025 21:15

Pork pie and bacon baps.

Caroparo52 · 09/10/2025 21:18

We love scrambled eggs with advocado and smoked salmon and lemon wedges on bagels or muffins or just toast. Bucks Fizz obviuosly too.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 09/10/2025 21:42

Toasted bagels with cream cheese & smoked salmon

TickyTacky · 09/10/2025 21:47

Christmas day is coco pops for breakfast day

*This is not the only day we have coco pops

PC7102 · 09/10/2025 22:17

Our family tradition has always been croissants for breakfast

Toptops · 09/10/2025 22:39

We have orange juice, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on toast. More toast if needed. Champagne or similar.
It's late, while boys on the lash the night before get up. 11 or 12.
Then trad Xmas roast dinner later on. Could be 5pm or so. When it's done.

Cordee · 08/10/2025 17:51

I’d do this if the veggies (my brother and sil) weren’t coming.

Have smoked salmon on the side?

Winebefore5 · 09/10/2025 22:42

Surely a selection box is the only acceptable breakfast on Christmas morning!?

It isn't even Halloween yet. Why on earth are you asking this already???!!!

Screamingabdabz · 08/10/2025 18:10

Jeez I’m a fatty big eater but how on earth do you all eat that rich breakfast AND a full Christmas dinner a few hours later? I just can’t reconcile the MN size 6 mentality and what is on this thread at all!!

Completely agree.
We have OJ and croissants

MYOB12 · 09/10/2025 22:55

My breakfast is croissants, butter, posh jam and coffee. Then I open the Buck’s Fizz.

CautiousLurker01 · 09/10/2025 23:01

Bundleflower · 08/10/2025 17:48

Smoked salmon with poached eggs. Washed down with Bucks Fizz. The ‘Bucks’ element optional!

This before we had kids… and again this year as both will be 18+ and will likely sleep in and skip breakfast! Looking forward to a tiny bit of sophistication and bubbly this year.

AmInotreallyfamily · 09/10/2025 23:26

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toasted brioche
