To ask if you'd live in a tiny home? Tiny house, motorhome, boat or caravan etc.

Just watching Tiny home tours on YouTube.

I really admire the way the homes are organised. I don't live in a big house but it's still bigger than these.

Watching has made me want to do more decluttering. And also appreciate what we have. Although the people living in these homes seem very happy.

We couldn't do it because of family staying sometimes.

I love watching tiny home videos. I’d absolutely love to live in one. You can have the trailer style ones custom built for about £40’000.

Not sure how I feel about the ones that have the net flooring upstairs or as a sleeping area, I’d probably prefer a solid floor.

Have you seen the tiny Japanese “apartments”? They are even smaller

YumYa · 07/10/2025 15:21

No I haven't seen the Japanese ones I'll have a look.

I haven't seen net floors either?

Just found one in the UK that looks nice.

I lived on a teeny tiny canal boat for a year quite some years ago.

When my kids are all grown and flown I would love to live on a boat or in a caravan again.

Abhannmor · 07/10/2025 17:09

I love caravans , so well designed, never seem to get cluttered. Winter is challenging though?

Nourishinghandcream · 07/10/2025 17:17

I love being away in our Moho but there is NO WAY I would want to live in it.
We don't even do long holidays as I would not want to be cooped up for too long, instead we take regular, short trips.

Not even a small Moho, six-berth for two of us & Ddogs.😆

BuffaloCauliflower · 07/10/2025 17:20

I fantasise about this a lot. I’d go caravan so can easily move it about and travel. I’d need a storage unit somewhere as well though.

Hatty65 · 07/10/2025 17:21

No. I'm claustrophobic and they look dreadful. Neat and clever storage solutions, yes, but horrible to live in. The Japanese apartments/hotel rooms make me feel ill. It looks like being trapped on a submarine!

NeverCouldGetTheHangOfThursdays · 07/10/2025 17:24

I definitely would if I was single. A friend of mine lives in a converted 7.5 ton horse box and it's lovely. There's a little wood burner in the living area so it gets really cosy and he's constructed a fold away balcony area on the back.

Bottleplant · 07/10/2025 17:27

A tiny home is my dream, but I think it needs to be somewhere warm, in a beautiful place, where you can sit sit/eat/cook outside a lot and you need to live alone and do any entertaining outside. Someone under your feet in one would be awful.

havingamarvelloustimeruiningeverything · 07/10/2025 17:28

I’d happily live on a canal boat. And my current life plan involves me buying a little one bed flat once all the kids have grown. Would be mortgage free, with minimal council tax and heating bills. I’d take a tiny home and financial freedom happily

PoliteSquid · 07/10/2025 17:31

Not by choice. I don’t want to live by myself, but also I like having my own space. I sometimes need walls and a door between me and DH/kids!

Titasaducksarse · 07/10/2025 17:33

I've a campervan and I love being away in it however the weather plays a huge part. When the weather is good you essentially spend most of your time outside so the space is no problem. It's when it's cold and wet that cabin fever sets in.

zipadeedodah · 07/10/2025 17:37

I'd love to

I'm surprised it's not more popular, what with the housing crises ad all.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 07/10/2025 17:40

I would be happy to live alone in a very small
place, as long as it had opening windows, preferably overlooking the sea! It would have to be alone though, not even with my husband. In fact, especially not with my husband!

TomatoSandwiches · 07/10/2025 17:44

By myself? Absolutely, I feel quite envious of people that manage to do this tbh.

childofthe607080s · 07/10/2025 17:59

No because when the weather is bad you can’t exercise and you can’t get anything dry

KilkennyCats · 07/10/2025 18:01

What on earth is a net floor?!
It’s making me dizzy to think of it 😁

YumYa · 07/10/2025 18:09

I'll have to Google net floors.

I think they’d be really popular as alternative housing if it was easier to find somewhere to legally park them and live full time.

I’ve stayed in a Tiny House and loved it, it was properly insulated with a small wood burning stove - I would happily live in one, if only I could buy a small bit of land and put it there.

Unfortunately, where I live the planning laws and council restrictions mean that’s not possible.

JohnTheRevelator · 07/10/2025 18:13

I lived in a tiny home many years ago before I was married. It was a converted garage (not as bad as it sounds,I assure you!). It was basically a living/sleeping area, with a separate tiny kitchen and a shower room/toilet leading off the kitchen. We even had a small backyard! It was fine for the year we were there, but I don't think I'd have liked it long term.

Mossstitch · 07/10/2025 18:21

I was looking for air b n b local for xmas and came across a gorgeous shepherd's hut set in a wildflower meadow, I'd happily live in one of those if i was on my own (can't cos grown up kids don't appear to want to leave🤣)

HarryVanderspeigle · 07/10/2025 18:28

I would quite like the idea if I was on my own. But as I live with dp and kids, absolutely no way! I also wouldn't live happily without a garden, so needs to be a tiny house with garden. But the idea of extreme streamlining of stuff does appeal.

Elsvieta · 07/10/2025 18:31

If I was single, maybe - always been a bit claustraphiliac. Not with anyone else, though - sometimes you need some separation.

KittyRannaldini · 07/10/2025 18:31

Oh absolutely. If it was just me, I would. Maybe when the child has grown up.

stargirl1701 · 07/10/2025 18:36

Yes but alone. Not with DH or DC! 😂
