To be utterly disgusted by the woman cutting down yellow ribbons commemorating the October 7th victims in Muswell Hill yesterday morning

When Jewish people are being attacked and murdered on their way to synagogue on Yom Kippur

When you literally can’t move or look in any direction without Palestine Palestine Palestine in our faces

On the eve of the anniversary of the worst atrocity committed against Jewish people since the Holocaust, a small, unobtrusive memorial for the victims of that unthinkable, barbaric attack was destroyed yesterday by a despicable woman who turned up with scissors and cut the ribbons down, one by one.

Ribbons for women and girls who were raped and murdered.
Ribbons for babies ripped from their parents’ arms and slaughtered.
Ribbons for men beaten to death.
Ribbons for the hostages still suffering every moment.

And this disgusting individual took it upon herself to come along with a pair of scissors and cut each one away. Her excuse? They “condone genocide”.

Let’s not pretend for a moment that that was her true motivation. It was a revolting demonstration of the antisemitism that has become so shamefully rife in this country that it sickens me.

This woman needs to be named and shamed for the loathsome person she is.

I said “Nationality aside too as I’m sure there are good people on both sides and bad people on both sides , but do you really think the life’s of terrorists like Hamas have the same worth of yours or mine ? Or your partner or your parents who I’m assuming are good people and never supported jiadism or any way of terrorism ?”

but yes pretend the rest of the sentence didn’t exist 🙄🙄🙄 . You extreme Palestine supporters really like to plant hate where there isn’t . Or do you like me to agree with you that Hamas supporters are as worthy as anyone else ?

You know what you said. Your only qualification was ‘children aside’, so you think ‘Gazan’ adults are fair game because their lives are worth less.

Any Israeli groups you’d care to single out as having unworthy lives?

sabababa · 07/10/2025 15:27

Nestingbirds · 07/10/2025 15:08

Would you expect Israel to just do nothing about the slaughter of thousands of their innocent civilians and the hostages being tortured as we speak?

People prefer Jews when they don't fight back and let themselves be slaughtered.

No I said children aside as children anywhere are in my view innocent ! Again you are reading what your dirty mind is telling you not what I said !

There is a reason why Sudan , Syria etc have no marches . It’s a pity so many refuse to see it . And again I say this as someone with no religion affiliations . Jews unfortunately probably were and still are the most prosecuted people . It’s a pity political correctness doesn’t allow people to openly say it .

So no Israeli groups that have 'unworthy' lives, just Gazans? All Gazans are guilty?

What about those slaughtered in other countries - why aren’t you up in arms about them?

JustJani · 07/10/2025 09:48

And it certainly isn't "small and unobtrusive" - it's extremely visible and obvious.

1200 people dead, 254 hostages. 48 still missing, at least 20 of those likely dead. Women murdered, raped and their naked bodies paraded. Babies ripped from arms and murdered.

And you feel a bit uncomfortable that people have a memorial. Fuck me… Remembering this is not condoning a war. Remembering this is human. Those poor people and their families.

Yes, quite.
Appanretly there was a joke among the Palestinians in Yarmouk camp in Syria while they were being besieged and massacred by Assad's forces (which also included Hezbollah, the darling of Kneecap) that it's a shame that they are not being killed by Jews as then someone might pay attention.

Every country in the world is going to defend their own nation when it is under attack. It’s just ludicrous to suggest otherwise. Hamas knew precisely what they were doing. How convenient for Russia too….

Children aside , can we all be adults here and actually accept some life’s are worth more than others ? That is a crazy thing to say- people are not born terrorists! People become ‘terrorists’ through circumstance, radicalisation, grooming, ideological convictions etc.
(I don’t doubt that those involved in Oct 7 were terrorists, I used inverted commas because at various times groups have been deemed to be terrorists who we now don’t consider to have been, eg the ANC, the Suffragettes)

And what's telling is that people are still engaging and agreeing with that poster as if they have just said a normal thing that wasn't heinous.

AngeloMysterioso · 07/10/2025 09:58

Everyone should be saying Fuck Hamas. Including those who are pro-Palestine. Including the people in Palestine who are suffering as a direct result of the attack.

But no. The people of Palestine that you feel so sorry for cheered in the street when they saw footage of the attacks. They crowded around the truck carrying Shani Louk’s beautiful, broken body and spat on her corpse.

But yellow ribbons and “Fuck Hamas” stickers make you uncomfortable. Ok.

Firstly, I agree a memorial shouldn't be defaced.

Can you read this back though and see that you're generalising the Palestinian people in the same manner you're complaining the Jewish people are being generalised?

If you feared for your life living in a dictatorship ran by a terrorist organisation, would you be protesting the 07/10 attacks in the street or would you play by the rules to ensure the safety of you and your children?

Don't kid yourself that morals are what's keeping Israel wiping Palestine off the map in one swoop, the threat of being punished by other more powerful countries is the only thing preventing that from happening.

It’s just that they won’t all break international law, ethnically cleanse a population or consider a death tally of over 50-1 to be proportionate. Nor will they exact ecocide, destroy academia and health services, maim children and use banned substances in their weapons. Ideally they wouldn’t use an entire population as a test case for new and ever more dreadful weapons technology.

Whataboutery at its most obvious.

Not all. It's a legitimate question to ask
israel's accountability for what's happened in Gaza is one thing and certainly something to be discussed. However, WHY the obession with Israel to the almost exclusion of anything else is another? And it's dangerous too - as what happened in Manchester has shown.

This is the new way of threads on Mumsnet it seems. As long as the targets are Palestinians, migrants or Muslims anything goes

And do you think it was okay for Hamas to start this awful situation by massacring so many innocent people in Israel?

Right, because there's no civil society in Israel, there's no democracy, there aren't 2 million Palestinian citizens of israel either. Here we go with demonization of Israel....

You've just read a post about someone who has said that apart from the children, Gazans' have a different moral compass and their lives are worth less than others (i.e. Israelis).

Instead of calling that poster out, you've chosen to engage in whataboutery on why people are discussing Israel / Palestine on a thread about Israel / Palestine.

I actually can't believe the depths to which people are sinking on this thread. Beyond awful.

@AngeloMysterioso Genocide is what Hamas would do to Israel if they had the means. Their stated aim is to wipe Israel and all Jewish people from the face of the earth.

I know in the last two years I've heard the Israeli government say the same thing about the state of Palestine and the Palestinian people...

Ive literally watched Netanyahu say he needs to wipe out gaza and that even the babies will 'grow to be terrorists'.... is this normal to some people because it's about Muslims? It's not anti Muslim?

It’s not anti Muslim , if anything can be anti
Palestine . Lots of Muslim countries don’t like Palestine . This is a specific region issue not a religious one IMO , at least not when it comes to Palestine maybe it can be said against Israel since it’s the only Jewish country .
