To think any "pro-Palestinian" marches today should be stopped?

Today is the second anniversary of the 7 October attacks.

Apparently "Students from London colleges are planning a joint march in the capital, while Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol and Sheffield are among other cities said to be expecting protests."

In my view, the timing of these marches proves beyond doubt that they are antisemitic in nature, and there is no place for them on our streets.

Do you agree, and if so, what would you like to see happen?

The prime minister says it is "un-British" to hold pro-Palestinian protests on the second anniversary of Hamas's attacks on Israel.

I’m not opposed to the protests in general. Maybe today could have been more of a vigil or memorial for the lives lost on both sides and for the safe return of the hostages. Both “sides” coming together

Yes, that would have been much more appropriate in view of the peace negotations taking place.

Well the march about to happen where I live is absolutely not the vibe anyone is suggesting would be appropriate. It’s angry and hate filled and filled with bigots.

CopperWhite · 07/10/2025 12:41

Palestine is either nothing to do with British Jews or it is. People on here seem to want it both ways. Relevant to Jewish people when they want to ban a march but nothing to do with them any other time because they are not Israeli.

Do you not think that the timing of today's marches is relevant to Jewish people worldwide, given Hamas's genocidal intent?

It's terrifying. Some people just can't see it. Of course there is those on the marches with pure intentions. There's people with genuine intentions everywhere. It's the others without and using it as an agenda that are the problem as are those gaslighting that it's not happening. There needs to be an honest discussion about the problematic
Issues.

StarlightRobot · 07/10/2025 12:49

Why not protest against Hamas today? They committed the evil atrocities on 7th October and they are oppressing Palestinians. This brings together both causes

noblegiraffe · 07/10/2025 12:50

Anyone who tries to pretend that this vigil for Palestinian martyrs and their 'resistance' on the anniversary of October 7th is anything other than a celebration of the massacre can get in the bin.

It's blatant.

Do you not think that Israel's destruction of Gaza and it's people is also relevant (and that many Jews don't identify with that particular ideology)?

StarlightRobot · 07/10/2025 12:53

I do not believe that any person choosing today to March against Israel has innocent motivations. By choosing this day, they are showing us who they are. I witnessed first hand individuals celebrating in London with Palestinian flags the day after the October 7th attack. No offensive from Israel had started yet. It was a pure celebration of killing Jews. I fear that we will see the same disgusting displays today. I am really saddened by this but also worried- these protests by a hateful minority are driving up Reform’s voter base.

Gosh, is that admitting that 'from the river to the sea' actually is a call for the destruction of Israel?

Normally they try to hide it.

@noblegiraffe I may be dim by asking, but if the land can only ever have been Palestinian (according to the poster) what territory do they say the Jewish people originate from? Jewish civilisation goes back a very, very long way! The poster is completely silent on this

I think that would be called an inconvenient truth, like pointing out the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem is built on top of a Jewish Temple.

They generally like to claim that all the Jews in Israel are European, but that isn't true either.

StarlightRobot · 07/10/2025 13:17

Ok- so the poster is completely denying the origins of Jewish civilisation. That is completely bonkers and disturbing that it being stated as a ‘truth’ on university campuses. Opposing genocide is one thing, but denying the origins of an entire ethnicity is on a completely different level!

Anyone protesting is as bad and disgusting as the rabid Hamas terrorists that caused this. So completely and utterly disrespectful.

Get a grip.

I don't know where to begin with that poster. The gaslighting is pretty intense.

My mind boggles at what film they are watching... presumably not the one Greta refused to see.

Will Isreal avoid killing any Palestinians today ?

Will Palestine stop killing Israelis? 🤷‍♀️

MummytoE · 07/10/2025 13:27

No, as long as the genocide continues so should the protests

StarlightRobot · 07/10/2025 13:31

@MummytoE

But what are these protests really about? Globalising the infitada? Denying that Jewish people originate from Israel? Arguing that they should be removed so that Palestine can occupy the river to the sea? This is what is so disturbing about them- there is a whole pile of offensive misinformation being promoted at these protests which is putting British Jews in danger. And- to choose 7th October for the ‘protests’ speaks volumes

Pigeonpoodle · 07/10/2025 13:33

I think protesting today would be distasteful and provocative. Moreover, I don’t support the stance of the Pro-Palestine protesters…

The suffering of the Palestinians is down to Hamas who glorify death and martyrdom, and cynically want to goad Israel as much as they can, to kill as many women and children as possible (yes, absurd as that seems, Hamas is a death cult and death is seen as a blessing to them). That’s why they base themselves in hospitals and schools.

However, I still don’t believe that pro-Palestinian protests should be stopped, as long as they are not violent.

I believe strongly in free speech, and that includes the right to offend and upset with your words. That doesn’t mean I think it’s morally right to offend and upset whoever we choose, but it’s a slippery slope if Government decides where the line is, and makes moral judgments over what we can or can’t say.

If Palestinian protesters want to offend and upset, then they’ll only harm themselves - let them hand themselves by their own petards!
